  1. I had good luck with Trojan batteries. They lasted a full 6 years. Replaced them with Everstart and only got 2 years out of them.
  2. WOW, very nice
  3. Put some red hooks on them to draw more strikes. And, make sure to fish them on red line, because it disappears under water. Good advice, but you forgot to mention the red boat and red hat
  4. Congrats, Had a few DD's myself but mine all have teeth or silver stripes. Best green one only 7. Very nice
  5. I've heard what is said about fisherman and streching the truth a little. Also heard there's about 25,000 members here. Waiting for about 24, 900 or so replies then i'll take my turn. LOL. Great catches guys!!!
  6. My neighbor was jug fishing for blues and caught a spoonbill, a once in a lifetime thing. We started talking about freak catches and I told mine. Wife and I were crappie fishing with 1/16 oz jigs on ul's. We always bet first biggest and most for bragging rights. After several crappie she gets a lmb about 5 and constant trash for next few minutes. After no more than 5 mins I caught a 221/2'' l'm guessing went close to 7, ending the trash talk. We've all had the unexpected on the end of our lines. What kind of crazy or surprises have you all had while bass fishing?
  7. sounds like it would work fine for throwing or skipping light to weightless offerings around docks. Probably better suited to jigging for eyes though.
  8. Oh just noticed you're from WI. Don't think it will make a very good ice rod. LOL
  9. I have both Techna AV's and St Croix rods and agree with RW. The rods are comparable and you will enjoy your AV. Use a quality reel and start fishing.
  10. Sorry forgot to attach link. http://www.piscatorialpursuits.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/551790/Gander_Mountain_Black_Friday_R.html
  11. Posted an earlier message asking about BPS reel option advice, as they have several reels on sale in the $80 range. I really wanted a Revo STX but was having a difficult time feeding the monkey the extra $120. TW was sold out of the RH Revo STX $135 reels. I found this link for Revo stx's at $100 at Gander Mountain if any one is interested. Contacted the local Gander Mountain store and they were unaware of the sale but said it looks legit and would get back with me.
  12. Thank you all for all your input. I'll be ordering a BPS Pro Finesse reel today. I realize that there are better options, ''for a price'', but I believe this will work fine for me. I favor the round reels also and if money wasn't a factor I'd be ordering a Shimano Conquest 50, but I do like eating as well as fishing. Thx again!!
  13. Sorry, I didn't remember listing Shimano as an option.
  14. Bought a GPS Finesse Pro 6'9'', 1/16 to 1/2 oz. for throwing weightless worms and small cranks. What reel would be best? BPS has Extremes Pro Finesse and Rick Clunn reels on sale, or an extra $120 for a Revo STX?
  15. Thanks for your responses and opinions. They are appreciated. Sounds like I can't go wrong with this rod. I'll be ordering one soon.
  16. Brian, was leaning to the 6'9''. What are you mainly using this setup for?
  17. Looking at the 6'6'' or 6'9'' 1/16 to 1/2 oz BPS finesse rod for throwing small shallow cranks. I would probably use a Revo premier reel I have, or possibly an Abu UC4600. Does anyone have any thoughts on this or is anyone using a similar setup. Rods are on sale at BPS now.
  18. Rod will balance with an Abu Garcia Soron, this is what they were designed for and its what I would use. I have several Abu spinning reels and never a problem. It would cost about $100, a little more than your budget. If the money is too much you could get a 600 series Abu for $80.
  19. Why not post your question on the Shimano product support forum?
  20. I also use and love the Gamma copolymer line. No one line is the best for every situation but for me the Gamma is the best of compromises for the most situations. IMO, it has the manageability of Trilene XL but less stretch and less memory. As for the abrasive characteristics most of my fishing is in fairly open waters so it has worked well there too. I would definitely give it a try.
  21. Are these rods too new for any opinions, or did I step in the stink bait at my whiskers fishing friends house?
  22. Has anyone handled or fished these rods yet? I am interested in the 6'9'' mh or the 7' m. I don't know how a mh shorter rod is rated for 3/16 oz when the longer 7' m is rated for 1/4 oz. Anyone know?
  23. I am looking at buying some new rods. what do you think of Allstar? Looking at the platinum or asr lines. They seem like a good rod for about $100.
