  1. You might consider a 721 gloomis. I've used it in the IMX, it's a great 6' light action rod.

  3. In the midwest, (Kansas), Right after ice out we catch a lot of bass on heavy jigging spoons on deep breaks. The spoons imitate the shad that has been frozen in the ice. Typically I'll use 3/4 or 1 oz spoons in 35' of water along the channel breaks. Then as the south March winds start warming things up, a lot of these dead shad get pushed up in the shallow north coves. That is where we find the cats in the shallow warmer water feasting on their shad smorgasbord. It works in Kansas RW, but not sure in Tennessee with a different forage base. I definitely would try a jigging spoons if you can mark fish along the deeper channel breaks.
  4. X2, I also like Gamma copolymer line a lot. I used it quite a bit last year, mostly for spinning. I used the green and found it to have less stretch than mono and it was very manageable. Another vote for the purple box. lol
  5. It'd surprise me if WD40 helps to attract fish but I'll bet you wouldn't have any rusty hooks.
  6. Hate those bouncing lures myself. Welcome to BR
  7. Everyone has their own personal preference as to what brand or manufacturer they prefer. For the most part all manufacturers within a specific price range are going to be somewhat comparable. IMO it makes more sense to take the rod you are going to use with this reel and go to your local tackle store to see which reel balances best and which reel you prefer. I'd give you my personal preference but that would be my opinion, and opinions are like human anatomy parts. Everyone has one. LOL

  17. 71 days, 12 hours and 47 minutes.
  18. I have a pair of Slyde's a got from the 2009 promo and I like them. Like already said, they're not Costa's and not a reason to buy a reel, but a nice bonus when you do.
  19. I asked the same question a couple of months ago on another stream but never received an answer.( that is a good answer) I don't believe its a typo but it doesn't make sense to me either. I haven't seen these rods locally so I haven't handled them yet. I'm still curious.
  20. Very nice fish and WOW, is that stuff liquid?

  22. hi and welcome to BR. I grew up in the Rochester area. I've been living in the midwest for a number of years now. I still have family in Rochester and I see a lot of members from upstate New York. I really miss fishing the Henderson Harbor area. Good luck in the upcoming season and again, welcome to BR.
