Rod/reel Storage
I always take all reels off of their rods, strip off the old line, and then stored inside. Unless of course they get sent in for repair. Rods all come into the house and put into rod racks for storage. I like to look them over to see if any need to be retired/replaced during the off season. All electronics and tackle boxes come inside as well. About the only thing left in my boat is my net and mothballs.

Too funny! Add "anniversary" to your "don't forget" list. Add to that Mother's Day, and Valentines Day!

Biggest Weekend In College Football
A POX UPON YOU SIR! The idiot from WV has taken a storied team and turned it into the mirror image of Minnesota! I'm off to find a gypsy to see what it would cost for a curse to stretch that sweater vest on your sidelines to where it could fit a new OSU coach like Charlie Weis!!! ;D Charlie would be a better fit in Michigan , he would keep their recent tradition intact. Do you think they've got enough intelligence to hire Harbaugh ? I'd love to see Harbaugh come back to his roots.

THE BOYS
As far as I could tell, the Cowboys played really well for about 54 minutes...... They beat the way the Lions played by about one quarter!

True Grit
I beg to differ. Obviously you haven't seen the Will Ferrall remake of Land of the Lost... : : Seriously though, while I am more of a Clint Eastwood fan, I feel your pain. I shudder to think of remakes of Outlaw Josey Wales or Unforgiven. At some point, I'm afraid that you'll get to see that very thing. We'll probably have to wait until after Clint has passed away, but it will happen. It will be so great to see The Gauntlet with all that realistic CG!!!!!! Isn't that what makes these remakes so much better? Pardon me while I bring up a little left over turkey.

Learning to catch river walleyes from the bank
We have a river in this neck of woods that holds a fair population of walleye. While I spend most of my time fishing from a boat, there is a time during the late fall that I do fish from shore. We've caught a number of fish using a very simple technique of slowly working floating Rapalas across gravel bars at night. The river has a stretch just below a Hydro-Dam that carries a modest current where the river bottom goes from semi-deep pools that tailout onto the rock/gravel bars before dropping into another pool. We fish over the rock/gravel bars using a #13 floating Rapala in gold color. Positioned above one of these bars, you cast out and slightly down stream, and allow the bait to drift for varying amounts of time. Then slowly, at a pace where you can just feeling the bait working, retrieve it back towards you. Normally, you'll know when a fish hits. However, if you feel the bait hit something, a light sweeping hookset will tell you if it's a fish. If you hang up, simply give the bait slack line. The current, along with the "floating" nature of the bait will usually allow the bait to back off the snag. But take a half-dozen baits with you! It does take time to get the feel of this method. We usually hit the water about a half-hour prior to dark, and will fish for a few hours. This method has gotten us some very nice fish, many times bigger than the typical daylight boat fish run. One last thing, keep all artifical light to the bare minimum as you can spook these fish fairly easy.

True Grit
IMHO, This remake of the movie True Grit is just like all of the other "newer and better" movies that have been made in recent years. Low talent screenwriters, directors, and studios, trying to cash in off of formerly successful films! The performance that John Wayne gave in True Grit earned him the Oscar. I can't imagine that Jeff Bridges is going to come anywhere close. 3:10 to Yuma - - The Original with Glenn Ford and Van Heflin was another very good movie. The remake was a poor attempt at copying the same. Has anyone had to suffer through the 1998 regurgitation of the movie Psycho? Poor Gus Van Sant tries to upstage one of the greatest directors of all time in Alfred Hitchcock. If Hollywood can't figure out how to come out with enough quality storylines of their own, without ripping off the people who made that place famous to begin with, then they need to find another field of work. You have to wonder what people would say if some hack decided to re-write every book that a great author had penned. Use the same title, just make it "better". How far would that go? Of course, that's just my grumpy opinion. >

AC Adapter Plugged in Outlet
Where is your nearest smoke alarm in relation to that plug? Perhaps a 110 source of power to that kind of unit as many new alarms have both sources of power. If the alarm was put in after the house was built, it would need to tie into the existing electrical system.

November Candian walleyes
LOL, I must be going blind as I didn't even see the trolling part on your first post when I read it. That or I just wanted to scroll to the pictures too fast. My middle son keeps harping on me about reef runners as well. I've already got more Hot-n-Tots, Wally Divers, Shad Raps, and Lord knows how many stickbaits. If I keep trying to stuff more Plano boxes in that boat of mine, I'm gonna need a bigger boat! ;D Anyhow, those are some mighty nice looking fish.

Oh Yeah, tubes work for all kinds of bass, both LM & SM. Somebody is going to tell you this, so it might as well be my turn. Read these articles that are attached from this site. You could spend days reading all of it.

Message Sent To Manns Bait Company
If you are a fan of the old TV western Gunsmoke, perhaps you would recognize the saying that one of the grizzled old characters, Festus Hagen, repeated many times on that show; "I wouldn't slam a door that hard!" Mann's Bait Co. has been a successful business for many years, and I can assure you that nobody in business survives with a reputation of gouging its customers. Writing to the company with any concern about their products, whether its price, quality, or anything else is commendable. A very successful client of mine once said that the best customers are the ones that bring complaints back to him, while the worst ones were those that simply left with no comment at all. Having said that, I agree with Glenn in thinking you went a little overboard with some parts of your letter. Maybe it was due to anger, or perhaps not having first hand knowledge of what it costs to operate a business these days. Wages for many employees have been stagnant for years, but that doesn't mean employee costs have stayed the same. The cost of employee health care has been going up 10-15% a year for at least a decade or so. "Rubber Worms" are actually made with plastic that is a by-product of petroleum. Have you seen what the price of gasoline has done lately? Of the three basic materials needed to make a worm, plastic, dye, and scent, I'm sure that plastic is by far the most used and more importantly, the most volatile. While there are lots of variables that could be included in a price increase, the simple bottom line is that a company must remain profitable while not having control of many of the costs associated with it's business. Add several other factors that you may not have thought about. First, when was the last time that the company had a price increase? Its possible that the old price may have been sufficient several years ago when the cost of a barrell of oil cost $40, but not in today's market where that cost is double. Second, many companies set a price that must be good for at least that current year. This means that some padding needs to be put into a price increase to cover a possible jump in costs, ones that they have no control over. Nobody likes to see the cost of the things they use rise. No business, at least the ones I deal with, wants to raise prices if they don't have to. But if I was going to leave you with one last thought, it would be to ask if you would have been as upset had they just closed their doors, laid off their employees, and forced you to find a new product all together. BTW, I don't work for, nor am I associated with Mann's Bait Co.. I'm just a simple old accoutant that has worked with companies just like them for the last 30+ years.
