  3. Something in Black, Blue, Purple, Brown, Green, and White. Or combine them.
  4. Guys my pops isn't kidding either. Were talking about rangers and tritons set up for side by side seating and everything. It's a sight to behold! I've seen pictures of these guys with all those rods hanging off the bow. Sort of like the reverse of salmon fishing on the Great Lakes where we run 18+ rods off the back of the boat! You can get a regular Chinese fire drill going at times.
  5. Bummer! I was looking forward to sitting down for a beer or six to see if our family trees crossed roots somewhere back in time. But I can understand the roof thing, I could have taken one heck of a road trip two years ago for what mine cost me. :-[ If that beer or six offer stands, we can do some exploring. Spelled with an "E", not "O". I can't remember seeing the name ever spelled with an "O" but I get get mail at work spelled that way all the time. We're Scandinavian Vikings! Sounds great. Ours is the Danish "E" version , though I have met a few "O's" over the years. We even have a large family down the road that had a lake named after them. It's spelled Jehnzen!

  7. I believe you are correct, sir. But I've never seen one with the "hula" skirt on the hook. Maybe an add on? I guess we'd have to ask the owner of that lure, but it looks to me like that skirt is rather stiff and could be some type of weed guard. Maybe.
  8. Sorry to hear about your loss Aaron. It's one of those things all of us go through at some point. I lost all of my grandparents and my father many years ago, but there are still many memories to fall back on. Make sure to spend some more time with your grandmother. Even though dementia takes away most of their short term memory, she will most likely be able to tell you many stories about your grandpa and the old days that you will want to know.
  9. Silvercliff.... How's Tings in Da Frozen Nort, eh? ;D Good point about the "spots" created when bottom types converge.

  12. By the way, that spoon reminds me a lot of the old style "Red Eye Wiggler" spoons. They all had those two glass eyes wired into them.
  13. I've still got some of the grubs and worms to use with those pesky little rattles. You didn't have to worry about them melting in as the bass had the ability to suck the rattles right out of those pockets..... We glued them in! I think I've even got some of the rattles floating around here too.
  14. Perfectly said, I couldn't or wouldn't add a thing. That advice was worth a whole lot more than two cents!
  15. You're right. You are a horrible person. How can you not like the Christmas ham! Not horrible, just terrible. The horrible part is sitting down to chow down on some poor ham cut into narrow strips and cooked down to the point that it has no moisture, no flavor, and is about as chewy as those pig's ears that you can buy for a dog. Years ago, there was a packing plant near Detroit called Farmer Pete's , or Peat's (I can't remember how it was spelled) that had fantastic ham. Since the day they went out of business, I haven't had a really good ham. I've had a few that were passable, but none of them were spiral cut. Sorry, but I don't see what's so special about a spiral cut anything.
  16. That's Crazy Talk! No wonder I don't let my wife near this forum. ;D
  17. In the old days, I used to keep fairly detailed records of my efforts, and then tried to tie in each days report into sections based on specific lakes, and by the seasons. Most of it was to keep track of tournament results, so I never counted dinks, just keepers and big bass. I also didn't bother too much with many of the weather factors. I would breakdown the records by the three seasons (none for winter), and then breakdown each season a little further. Spring for instance was for water temps, and pre-spawn, spawn, and post-spawn. Quite honestly, I could never see the use of a detailed weather record when my fishing days were dictated by weekends when I didn't have to work, and tournament directors who had the final say in what lake/river we were fishing. I've sort of let my fishing logs fall by the wayside the last couple of years once the desire to fish tournaments left me. Thanks to Goose though, I'm going to take up the effort again. It should be interesting to see if I can hit a few goals once I've figured out what they should be.

  20. Glad to hear that a good venting helped you clear the air. I've always been a big fan of scream therapy! Had I been in your shoes though, I would have probably used the effort expended here, to write a "nasty-gram" to the doctor in question. I wouldn't have gotten the same quick response from the doctor that you got from the BR family, but I would know deep down that the specific person got the message. Just saying.....
  21. I must be a terrible person, because I hate spiral cut ham. So much so, that I will start to sing the old commercial song; "My bologna has a first name, it's O.S.C.A.R." as soon as the wife hauls one into the house. As far as turkey goes, I just got done with that bird four weeks ago. We have two Christmas parties here at the house. One on the day before with the entire family, where finger food is the order of the day. When the kids all go to the in-laws, they can have their traditional meals. Christmas day is reserved for the two of us and our Mothers. It has become a tradition that I always cook up a little non-traditional dinner that day. This year we started with several shrimp and cold crab dishes, and finish off with a smallish sized 5lb prime rib. Once I got done making "to go packages" for the moms in our lifes, there wasn't much in the way of leftovers.
  22. Kelley got close to how we use a rubber band. Move it onto the rod handle. Take a medium thin rubber band, spin it a couple of times around the rod handle where it sits directly above the spool on the reel. After casting out, close the bail on the reel, pull out a little slack line and place the loop under the rubber band, then re-open the bail. When the fish hits, you should see a little bit of loading on the rod tip prior to the loop of line comes free. If you want extra help seeing the bite, tie a small string of brightly colored yarn onto the line just past the rod tip. It is easier to watch the yarn leaving the rod if you don't want to stare at the rod all day. BTW, the line from the spool to the loop should be tight.
  23. Did you save the numbers where you sunk the tree?

Add a little of JJ's tonic, and the garlic should override any other seasonings! ;D
