Suggestions? Eagle project help
You've typed out a very interesting post, and I'm sure that you will get some good replies. From my first read, I've come up with the following: Planting trees around the shoreline would also provide shade keeping water temps from getting too high. An overpopulation of bluegills could lead to stunting. You may want to look into planting a few catfish in each pond as an economical way to control those populations. Perhaps you already have done this, but you should look at our BR sponsor Pond Boss for additional ideas. http://www.pondboss.com/ Good luck on your project - Keep us updated!

Can Someone Explain the Concept of a "Run" For Me?
So now we get to test spell check by trying to type Anadromous..... Spelled correctly even though the utility doesn't think so, defines fish that live in the ocean and travel up freshwater streams to spawn. We use the same term for fish in the Great Lakes that make the run up local rivers. I can't quote the exact biological reasons why, but let's assume that they need certain conditions that can't be found out in the middle of big water. There's a lot of other fish that travel to spawn while still in the lake. Fish that spend most of their lives in deeper water usually spawn in the shallows. Some fish, like salmon will make their run up the rivers, finish their spawning duties and then die. Others like trout will "drop back" to start the entire cycle over again. I'm not sure about some of the other fish such as herring. If you want to do more reading on the subject, google the term Anadromous Fish

This Week's Weather Not Good For Fishing on East Coast
You guys need to look at this as a glass half-full thing. Tons of snow, can't go to work, you might as well hop on the old computer and order up a bunch of new tackle! There must be sale going on somewhere. You might even save more money than you could've earned by going to work!

A Fun Idea Maybe....
This is a "fun" site, junior. Like Francho said, don't overcomplicate it. Sponsors = complicated. JMO Give the boy a break. His idea, his efforts at getting sponsors, his record-keeping of all entries, him being put in charge of setting up an offical entry form, official rules, and judging all entries. Make a sticky that is kept up to date! Let's have Glenn come up with a new title like "AOY Coordinator" and let BC run the show. Then the rest of us can have "fun" keeping the boy in line! ;D

Bait Monkey beatdown
You guys just have to learn to be more sneaky! My wife didn't even notice the new 6'8" Mossyback that got added to my rod storage yesterday. If my luck holds, she won't either!

NASCAR screwed up again!
Well, Jr. got his Daytona win, so after that I think he was on his own. The powers that be may not pick who is going to win, but many times, they have kept someone who derserved to win from actually winning. Pretty sad to see a car running away from the field near the end of a race, only to be pulled back into the pack from a phantom caution. That was my issue.

NASCAR screwed up again!
Sorry Preach4bass, but I fully agree with Cart7t on his statement. When the announcers all start talking about "where's the hotdog wrapper" that causes yellow flags near the end of so many races, it has to make you wonder why. IMHO, the why is that you can't see restart mayhem without a restart. And mayhem sells. There are a whole lot of other things about modern NASCAR that needs to be tossed out. The first thing that needs to go is the COT, quickly followed by restricter plates. Then they can breakup these garages that have three or four drivers where one runs to win and the others are simply blocking. Nothing against the man as he was a legend, but Dale Sr. wasn't driving to win in the last race he was ever in. Finally, they could prune almost everything else, from the number of races, to laps, and then the number of cars on the track.

Should I get Under Armour cold gear base 2.0 or 3.0 for fishing?
That sounds like the understatement of the year! ;D I was stationed @ Grand Forks AFB for almost four years and I can't remember a day when the wind didn't blow. I'd go with the 2.0 if it was me. 40* isn't all that cold if you are active and you have a windbreaker on over the top of it. With the 3.0, you'll be driving down the road with the windows open to keep from sweating up.

How ironic
Ten Feet? Good grief, you won't get the boat out of the garage until Memorial Day unless it is to escape the flood if it all melts quickly! We got nailed last Thursday which contributed to the snow bank hgt. About a week prior to that it rained which knocked it down a bit otherwise it would have been much higher. It's been about 38 degrees for 3 days which melted is down a bit, but we're supposed to get nailed again mid-week. Today I went thru 2 towns to get my son to hockey, both towns had excavators and loaders widening the streets and knocking snowbanks down. To be honest, our inland waters needed this. I've seen the news where you guys have been getting a lot of snow this year, but 10' snow banks must be amazing. Around here we've just had a cold winter more than a snowy one. Of course I live just far enough away from the big lake to avoid most of the lake effect snow. Are people driving on your lakes? We just had the annual car races here last weekend on one of our lakes.

Moveing to Shimano Crucial or Cumara? Have you got one/do you like it?
So which ones do you have that you don't like, and are you looking to get rid of them? I've got two and like both. Wouldn't mind picking up a couple more.

is this a smelt?
Sure looks like one to me, but not positive. It's not a rainbow smelt unless you guys have smelt that are a lot bigger than the ones we have here. Probably a different sub-species.

I just signed up and WOW. What happened to working and buying your own stuff?
Just a random thought from one Ol'Fart to the rest of the "We Know Better" crowd. Do you remember what our fathers said to us? Guys like me that grew up in the age of Rock & Roll and long hair, would have made our fathers do handstands if our worse flaw was trying to do more fishing! How we ever went from a doomed generation of hippies to the point where we are the sages is amazing. If the members of Team Pampers I see around here are a sample of today's youth, they are going to kick our butts once they are sporting grey hair. They're only asking for free gear, we asked for free love!

Best Sub $200 Baitcaster
I don't care if you get a Revo or a Curado, but you will be wasting money if you don't look at Bass Tackle Outlet: http://www.americanbassoutlet.com/ Revo's are priced $30 under what most other places charge. I bought two Curados a week or so ago and saved $72! Shipping costs only $4 per/order. A guy would have to be crazy not to check out this BR sponsor.

Help Me Pprice My Boat
Yeah, you missed the motor's value on nada which would add another $1,200 and the trailer which I couldn't pull up but could be another $1,200. That would bring the price up into the same range. Also, it doesn't matter what the asking price is on used boats, its the price of the ones selling that counts. This one would probably sell for $6k if it was on the market for $7k. Just my opinion.

NASCAR screwed up again!
It would be interesting to see what the results of the last couple years would've been using this new point system. It would be nice if they would quit having those phantom caution flags near the end of each race too.
