  1. I'm in the M/XF house as well. It doubles as my topwater rod.
  2. Color me surprised. Not what I was expecting under there. My only concern is that thing looks narrow. Narrow = tippy.
  3. Call me a cynic, but there's a reason there were no pictures taken with the cover off.
  4. I've bought 4 boats like your looking at. The first one, I put more money to get it in shape than I paid for it. Fished it for a year cause it wasn't what I wanted. Second one, needed a new floor. The one place I didn't check was bad. Rebuilt that one and fished it for a year. Not what I wanted. Third one I rebuilt and never even fished out of before I sold it. Then I bought my current boat cause I was tired of settling. I've been in it since 2005. Thought I wanted a small lake boat, so I bought another project. Started into it and said screw it, not worth the time and money. I sold it after I tore out the transom.
  5. I agree with that. I only have one rod that a CI4 2500 feels good on, my 6'10" Mag-light NFC dropshot rod. They're just too light for any of my MLs and Mediums.
  6. This was the boat, but not the motor. I kept it when I sold this boat. Light it was not. My current boat, a 17' Lund got a whopping 8mph too with the 20hp kicker. It's considerably heavier tho.
  7. That boat will be a slug. I had a 14' StarCraft with a 15hp on it and it maxed out at 8mph.
  8. Most of the ones I've seen either had the cowl off or were being towed back to the ramp. May the Force be with you, not behind you!
  9. I have a spool of nanofil. Never fished with it. I just use it as pull loops when wrapping rods. From your description, that's all its good for too. Glad I never spooled it up.
  10. That's a seriously old Legend. I'd equate it to a Premier of today. A good find nonetheless.
  11. No, I'm not getting every dime, sometimes I'm getting a few more. I'm probably an anolomy though, as I build my rods in my spare time between customers rods. I get every bit of what I pay for parts out of my personal builds. I don't put my name on my rods with the intent of selling them some day.
  12. Was lazy last night and didn't glue it up like I said I would. I picked it up tonight though. This is a Bushido SJ72/4-8 that I'm donating as a doorprize at the Youth and Family Outdoor Show that I display at every year.
  13. I tried a couple times to send rods in those heavy St Croix cardboard tubes. 100% failure. PVC only for me now. It's no guarantee it'll make it in one piece, but I'll make them work a little harder to break it!
  14. I finished it up last night. Added a little more length to it (brain fart, made it too short). Will post pics once I glue it up on the blank.
  15. In case you were wondering, this is how it goes from square to round.
  16. Me either. I see glass boats putting out drift socks to go as slow as me sometimes. Not saying I don't need to drag one on occasion too. Sometimes it's just too windy to not use one.
  17. finished it up this morning.
  18. From Billy V. Northeast Rodbuilders. He has blocks and strips, but I cut my own strips most of the time. He has mandrels now too. I'm probably gonna be ordering a 5/8" from him. Sometimes you need a bigger one than 1/2".
  19. You weren't the first to point that out. I have many, many HF coupons.......MANY!!
  20. so much truth in that statement.
  21. That actually sounds like a decent boat, especially if you can get it for $2500. see how it fishes as is and maybe upgrade the sonar one year and the trolling motor the next.
  22. I had to turn the inlay first just to see how it would come out before gluing up the rest. Gonna finish turning it tonight.
  23. A little something I'm working on this week.
  24. Lol. The last chuck I bought was only $20 less than I paid for my lathe!!
