  1. I use 6#, so in theory I would have needed 4# Gander Fluoro and it doesn't exist to my knowledge.
  2. I looked at the Gander fluoro in the store and compared it to Invizx. It's diameter is bigger per any given size. I left with the Invizx.
  3. More than length comes into play here too. I have old Chronarch SFs that have the same length foot as Curados, yet the Curado won't fit in the seat I cut for the Chronarch. The Curado foot is thicker, making a longer seat necessary.
  4. The ability to position the reel anywhere along the grip. Plus, it's more comfortable than most reel seats due to its larger diameter.
  5. 1/0? That's huge!! Lol. I use #6 and #8 for most of my dropshotting.
  6. Best bet is a lathe. That can get quite expensive tho. This is a nice alternative. You can pick up a cheap hand drill and this. http://www.grizzly.com/products/Hobby-Lathe-Disc-Sander/H2669?utm_campaign=zPage&utm_medium=link&utm_source=direct Then you need some mandrels to put the cork on. A Stanley Sure Form file, a flat file and some sandpaper.
  7. You actually can make your own lathe from a hand drill. http://www.rodbuildingforum.com/index.php?s=7f4c4bae52665c9442750c53e9cfb0e1&showtopic=34233
  8. Don't know. They have the rings. If they have a premade one, the rings will fit too loose and your reel will want to fall off. It's best to turn it yourself so you can make the rings fit snug on the grip.
  9. While Alconites are the best bang for the buck, they would be like putting hubcaps on a Cadillac. I'd go with TiSic. I'd do a natural cork split Tennessee and save the Aero for another build. Thread color.....I really like to make the thread disappear on those SCV blanks, both the green and the blue green flip. For the green, I'd just do a green nylon wrap that closely matches the blank. No CP applied. It will go somewhat transparent and you will see the guide feet.
  10. I believe that was Founders Rubaeus.
  11. 464 Unfinished. Test wraps.
  12. Blank: RodGeeks B468MMF in Pearl White Guides: Fuji Alconite K-Frames (black) Hook Keep: Kigan XLA (black) Reel Seat: American Tackle Aero Winding Check: Batson FAWC-B Butt Cap: Mudhole Thread: ProWrap Nylon A (Blurple) w/Guebrod Metallic Green trim Decals: Decal Connection (inscription), Bill-Mar (Smallmouth) We were going for a junebug wrap. In person, it looks pretty good. In the pics, not so much. The belly really isn't pink. It's a holographic decal and that's how the light was hitting it at the moment.
  13. The ML would be my choice.
  14. Another one. This is for a Forest Green Pearl SCV that's been 4+ years in the making!
  15. Oh, the lathe monkey is one bad dude and so is his buddy Chuck. They both have a few of my paychecks!!
  16. Put your hand behind the blank when you use it, if its too hot for your hand, it's too hot for the blank.
  17. Strip the guides and rewrap. Best way is to use a hair dryer to heat/soften the old finish a bit and slice the old wrap ON TOP OF THE GUIDE FOOT with a razor blade. Pop the old guide off and peel off the rest of the wrap.
  18. You won't save money, but you will get more rod for your money.
  19. There's your problem. I used to use maximum of 8# on small spinning reels and 10# on reels like a 4000.
  20. They need to learn how to apply finish more sparingly. 2 things I hate to see on rods: Footballs and a finish web in front of the guide.
  21. My 17' single axle Trailmaster is 600# according to the paperwork.
  22. NADA normally lists boat weight and the unladen trailer weight should be on the owners card.
  23. 17mm Fuji Cobra spin seat with acrylic insert I turned for another rod builder this morning.
  24. You're absolutely correct, it isn't right. If that rod didn't break on the first couple trips, then there isn't anything wrong with it and any break after that is operator error. I wish all the companies would do away with the unconditional, no fault lifetime replacement BS. It lets people abuse their rods with no consequences. But this is a whole other topic. I have no problem selling my customs for what I paid for them.
  25. Sounds like that rod isn't the proper tool for what you want to achieve. Use a rod with the smallest guides that will pass your connections.
