Rapala flatrap
Never used it, but you wanna fish this like a jerkbait. There are a few forms of retrieves to be experimented with. 1) Reel steady with twitches at 114 beats per minute. Just gotta fool around and find the effective cadence, or retrieve timing. 2) Same retrieve as #1, but with random pauses.(Seems like the best retrieve for the flat rap, which floats up during a pause, whereas i'm used to them sinking) 3) I've done well deadsticking a jerkbait with minimal action. 4) Sweep the rod a good bit to the side. This will cause it to dart like a fleeing, injured baitfish. Pause 3 to 5 second while reeling up slack, then sweep the rod again. Most of my strikes come on the pause, when the lure rises slowly. Again, experiment with cadence until the fish react in your favor. i almost never reel a jerk in steady. Also look at the many articles on this site (top left of page) discussing everything jerk bait wise

best colors in stained water
Thats my specialty, stained water Dink whisperer nailed it. Any variation on junebug. also dark blue, black, and maybe red. White and chrome are the bluejeans in any shade of clarity. oh yeah white isn't a color. :

Water Clarity question
All i can tell you is how i normally go about it. I try and keep it simple. In murkey water(all i ever really fish) I fish junebug, blacks, blues andmaybe red. If it's darker than the water, it's easier to see supposedly. Whatever, i have confidence believing that. Then the few chances i do get to fish clearer waters, i'll use greens and browns. Then as all-time quarter back, white, chrome and chartreuse colors. I've always done just fine narrowing it down this way

Everybody should have a set of these !!!
weird. really coulda used those yesterday. biggest fish i caught, i gut hooked her. i felt remarkably ****ty. took four or five min to get it out with my hands. had to keep moving her around in the water between tries (forgot the pliars cause i was just walkin around a neighborhood's lake without my full tacklebox. just a handfull of brushogs, 2 hooks, 2 bullet weights, and some tiny snippers) I eventually got her off after i put my whole hand down her throat. She bled a little but swam away fine. I'm gettin me a pair of those

Ole Miss Mascot Election
Seriously? Admiral Ackbar? will they get away with this? Will it be the coolest thing ever or will they end up being the laughing stock? i personally don't think they'll be able to do it. I think Colonel Reb' is much more appropriate, actually reflects local heritage ;D

Swimming a Jig
theres only one spot i ever use a swiming jig ;D its whenever i find grass. i've heard its good to throw them around shallow cover like anything else but i have way more luck just throwing a football or flippin jig against the bank. but when i find grass, i like to reel it across and through that grass at a steady medium pace while twitching my wrist up and down all the way back giving it a lifelike swimming action. i use a money craw on my swim jigs, those arms move like nobodys business.

Falcon Lowriders and Cara's
I agree here. I have a couple of caras and bucoos. they hit the nail on the head with the bucoo. It was probably a bad business decision for them though because after fishing with the bucoo, there's no reason to buy a more expensive rod. just kidding but it's that good though. I wish there were more actions and lengths available though. No doubt. i've always thought, if only they would have made a 7'6" heavy. but those rods are some of the best. Especially the caras. if you can afford them theres no reason to get anything else. BUT if you can afford a cara then you might as well just buy 2 Bucoos!
