This^. I'm pretty much exclusively a shore-bound angler, and I use a couple of 5 1/2' rods. THey're just the ticket in areas where a longer rod would be impossible to cast such as areas with overhanging tree branches. I can also fit a 5 1/2' rod in the cab of my Dakota pickup without bending it. Tom

I've got a Shakespeare 1980 President II model HB (whew!) that still sees occasional use. It's built like a tank and weighs about the same as one. It was my striper trolling reel for many years. Now that I don't fish from a boat anymore, it gets used to chuck heavy lures for wipers, and for catfishing duty. Tom

Your wood top bench will work fine, if you don't mind a few burn marks on it. I've been melting and casting lead on a wooden workbench for 20 years or more, and other than a few black spots, it's holding up just fine. Besides ventilation, be SURE you wear eye protection and gloves. Molten lead is around 700 degrees and a droplet in your eye...well I'll leave the details to your imagination. Tom

This^. I don't "hate" Senkos, I just don't use 'em much because the technique drives me crazy, but they DO catch fish. Since I never have (nor will I ever) fish tournaments, I don't feel obligated to fish a bait that I don't enjoy fishing just to land a few more fish than someone else. Tom

A good bartender will carefully pour a Tequila Sunrise to look like the pic I posted. Once you stir it around a bit, it comes closer to this color. It's one of my most productive worm colors. Tom

Same here. I usually carry 2 b/c rigs and 1 spinning rig. I usually have a couple of rigs stowed in my truck for backup. Tom
