  1. First go at carp this year, I caught a nice 31" fish. Huge girth, it was probably feeding on my chum. My wimpy spinning rod really gives the fish a parabola to play against, but it sacrifices some control over the fish, especially when trying to land the fish. I would rather have my rod bent like a parabola then have the hook pull with a stiff rod. However something a little stiffer might be better. Cabela's salt striker baitrunner reel still going strong. Bait was cooked feed corn tipped with a fake corn on a hair.
  2. Those wels pictures are haunting my dreams... I would fish for those things if I had access.
  3. power fish, shallow cranks, spinnerbaits/inlines, topwater. Cover water and you will find some biggins. I very rarely dink around with small finesse soft baits in the river. Chatter lures also
  4. Caught two it should have been four though. Lots of boils and swirls fun action.
  5. thats one hell of a first fish!
  6. Aggressive stripers far up a northeast river hittin topwater... gamefishing dosen't get much better I reckon
  7. This is a good tactic.
  8. if the rod is rated you could throw up to a 5/8 oz. so 1/2 oz would be fine. I would throw mono to a steel leader with a swivel.
  9. You could throw 1/4 oz spinners with the 6' 6" M and hit pike. A 6lb pike will hit a little spinner.
  10. Schoolies upriver! hopefully the start of a successful campaign! Fish in the dark was a little bigger.
  11. Wow the carp are nuts for your soft baits!
  12. Look at the gator head on that thing! You should be scared to wade in that water!
  13. Are they there now may 1?
  14. Came from the fish tank?
  15. Nice. Digging through the tacklebox and changing lure after lure can pay off!
  16. That river is smoking good job
  17. I think the thing they see is a big ugly clip and crimp tubing that is on the business end of the leader. Some presentations and situations I think leader visibility can be a factor.
  18. You picked the right college!
  19. Nice toothy fish. but i got to tell ya, i noticed your not wearing a life jacket, in those frigid waters on a yak your taking a big risk. Especially when your dealing with landing big fish. If you lost balance and fell in it could be real bad. My yak year I wore a life vest every time, (night fishing, big lake, cold river) its just part of the gear with kayak fishing. I don't mean to lecture you but I gotta make the point.
  20. A couple aggressive buggers. A little corn on a hook you could probably fill a bucket of em. But you are probably going for bass.
  21. A fun day at the river with friends is awesome. At least your bro got some slime on his hands!
