  1. thats my secret dont let it out.. best hook ever for live bait and you will rarely gut hook a fish.. Live bait is good in dead of winter on TN River no doubt.. i still think a slow rolled spinnerbait or deep crankbait tearing up the bottom will still do very well
  2. caught a few this past week on a spot remover peg it shaky head tipped with 5" V M chopstix in green pumpkin.. just another senko type bait fished it real slow almost dead stick it.. threw anywhere there was a nice current break
  3. i fish tn river and maybe its i dont do it enough but dont seem to catch em on topwater much.. if you can find a reaction innovation vixen its the best spook i have used
  4. good luck let us know how you did.. smallie fishing is HOT right now in Tennessee
  5. work it slow then when you think thats to slow slow down even more i like to use craws, senkos, and finesse worms on shakey heads.. one of my new favorites is the zoom magnum finesse worm
  6. lowrance h2oc is a great handheld unit and will take all map cards check them out
  7. Luhr Jensen are great also and dive really good .. The 3/4 oz will get to almost 20 ft with right liner combo and a good long cast.. Try anything bright like Chartreuse/Blue firetiger.. black/chartreuse those colors produce well for me.. Smallmouth are aggressive u don't need a natural bait most of the times the bright colors cause reaction bites IMO.. hope you do well let us know how it goes
  8. tubes will wax some smallies on the Tennessee River... i just let them drift with the current and give an occasional twitch or hop.. the erratic motion is what triggers the strike for me.. try gitzits in olive green with smoke tail great color use the smallest lead head you can get away with to reach the bottom.. also buy bulk leadheads b/c you will lose a bunch.. i buy them buy the 100 for about 20 bucks.. this is one of my big go to baits in the fall and winter
  9. big crankbait in bright color football jig with yamamotto flappin hog as trailer
  10. labeling it a smallmouth rod is just a gimmick for sales.. Im with roadwarrior a few general rods will work for everything.. I carry one medium 2 medum heavys 1 heavy and one extra heavy swimbait rod and thats all i have dont have a ton of rod and reels but what i got is good quality stuff I looked at these Daiwa rods being a Daiwa fan just didnt like the size of them I prefer 7 ft plus rods
  11. bassfishinghomepage has a lot of guntersville guides who post reports.. right now hit the grass with frogs or big punching rigs
  12. hook through the lips with #4 octopus circle hook this is my preferred method for big smallmouth in the fall
  13. carolina rigged magnum lizard is my favorite summer deep water bait.. it always catches a fish or two
  14. with work im lucky to go once a week to answer the question- NOT ENOUGH!
  15. great bait i have a few packs only downfall is they are only good for one fish...i have caught few nice ones on these t-rging them with 1/16 oz tungsten weight fishing over and in between grass
  16. here in tennessee my favorite fishing is sept. through feb. and best part is you have the lake mostly to yourself
  17. for me its DD22's DT16 and Poes deep divers in bright colors .. i fish the Tennessee River and have caught a lot of 4+ lb smallies on bright color cranks.. fish channel edges and humps where there is current and current breaks and hold on!
