  1. hey all, I am debating on which rod to pick up after Christmas. I have decided on a Powell Max Casting rod.. the models I am looking at are a 705c, 704c, and a 703c... I fish a lot of grass and structure but i wouldn't call it "heavy" structure.. ie. artificial crates and boxes in the water, occasional trees and stumps. I fish in central PA so its not like we have 6+lb bass swimming around at will... Im planning on using this rod with texas rigged senkos and jigs... Any suggestions? Oh and I will have the rod paired with a Revo of some sort... either S, Sx, or STX with 15-17lb Fluoro.. Thanks for the help
  2. x2... ive also used it with success on an 1/8oz shakey head jig
  3. Penn State has a team... try contacting them.. i'm sure since penn tech is affiliated w/ penn state they could show you the ropes.. look them up on the club sports website
  4. Try a 4" Kinami Flash in Junebug color. IMO that is the best bait out there during early season. I went through probably 20 bags of them this spring and early summer
  5. wow if i can scrap up an extra hundred dollars i'll definitely buy myself one!
  6. definately the one where Ike snaps a fish off at the boat and dives in and grabs his line and ends up landing the fish!
  7. congrats dale!
  8. Simple , stay in school , learn marketing. And how to type, spell, use punctuation, and how to communicate with others without making yourself look like a dumb___. haha i was just going to say that may have been the longest sentence i have ever read in my life!
  9. compared to a 7 or 6 fter? yea but for being an 8ft rod i believe its relatively light.. i really like it! very well balanced with a revo stx!
  10. welcome to the forum, premadonna
  11. we just recently discussed this.. check it out [ftp]http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1253375294 [/ftp] I have one and i really like it.. i'd recommend it to anyone.. i have the 8foot flipping stick
  12. i have used a couple of them from walmart.. they do a good job. i've caught a few bass on them when i use them.. im not much of a jig fisherman and havent used a lot of different kinds.. but from what i have experienced i would def. buy more if i lose these ones.. also i havent had a problem with hook rust or anything like that either
  13. it was bad... 15 guys fished it.. a handful prefished it and did terrible.. 5 guys weighed fish.. big fish was 1.77lbs.. biggest bag was like 3 fish for 3+lbs.... really bad weekend of bass fishing... the toothy critters were sure biting though
  14. Hey guys. I have a club tournament tomorrow at the Allegheny Reservoir in Warren PA (on the border of PA and NY.) The weather is calling for some rain and 15mph wind and 55 degrees. I fished this lake this summer at a tournament and caught 3 keepers fishing a shallow flat that led into a creek... However this time of year the lake is down between 10 and 20ft... The man made structures (Crates) should be decently visible now. Does anyone have any recommendations on what to throw or what to look for with conditions like this? I was thinking spinners/baits, and some swimbaits or cranks.. any useful information would be appreciated! Thanks
  15. my W&M Tessera 8' Flippin stick gets the job done
  16. you must have a really good boater! just kidding.. congrats!
  17. my big bait is the Zoom Ol' Monster.. they got some girth to them.
  18. They tried to pull that one with me too. Here is how you solve that problem... *** has a "over $50 = Free shipping" policy. If you go to customer service and quote this, they will match the internet price and not try to tack on the shipping charge. We all know how easy it is to amass $50 in baits at BPS, unfortunately... :-[ ;D it is because of that (and the crazy discounts they give to fellow college anglers) is why i use tackle warehouse 99% of the time!!
  19. i typically use them both on a shaky head jig.. i think the only major difference is their size... but they both catch fish! I use watermelon magic on a shaky head and slowly drag it over rocks.. its deadly on the smallies
  20. hey guys how did the tournament go?
