Rod builder question(it happened to me)
I don't buy anything rodbuilding related from ebay. Never will, either. The few things I've seen either appeared to be poor quality, knock offs or higher priced than my suppliers. I agree with Eddie and Booten. With a few, rare exceptions, I buy from mudhole and fishsticks. I've gotten better service from them than I have any vendor in any business that I've dealt with. There are many great vendors to choose from... once you find one, post about them here so we all have another trusted option to use if our's is out of something. My only complaint with mudhole is that they had free 2nd day shipping on Thursday and were out of the 5C70MHf blanks! ...lol

Spin Vs. BC for light tackle
While there are a few BC outfits that handle light weights well, there are fewer anglers that can. For probably 80%-90% of the world, spinning tackle is a necessary option for certain techniques or conditions... especially if there is any wind blowing. To some degree all spinning reels will twist line. troll it out once in a while to remove twist and you will be basically trouble free. Baitcasting isn't hard to learn... and if you avoid the really light stuff it's easy to be proficient from very early on.

Shimano Warranty Work
I can only assume that like any service center, this is the busiest time of year for warranty work as well... the fishing season has ended for many and it's time for service and warranty work. I would be that they are just swamped.

P-line and Izorline
Great offer and feedback, thanks! No need to send me the line, I have a buddy that works at the local academy so I can probably get them for the cost of your shipping them to me. I appreciate the offer though, very nice of you. How is the CX as far as abraision resistance? I fish a lot of timber and rocks? Thanks

inflatable PFD's - Mustang, Sospenders, etc.
price is not the issue... nearest bps or cabela's to try some on is over 2 hours... and being a bigger guy, I'm told that fit may be an issue from brand to brand. Anyone know why the cabela's brand is so much less for same auto/man features? I read all 82 reviews on the auto and about 78 were positive. price isn't an issue but I'm not going to pay 2-3 times price just for a brand name. ?

Difference Between 1 and 2 Piece Rods?
I think you misunderstood ReelMech's explanation. Stiffnes (power) and action (taper) are independent of one another. Most ferrules today are working ferrules and the actions are really very close. The differences are not in the tips but in the area of the joints. But in all the multi piece rods I have built and owned, they look and feel slightly slower, not faster in action, since the ferrules are flat(er) spots. Having a ferrule, even a working ferrule, creates a flat spot when the rod is loaded... the result is more bending behind the ferrule- which will slow the action, not make it faster. To the OP- 1 pc. rods are typically more sensitive, lighter, better balanced and stronger. (all terms relative)

buzzbait retrival?
While I rarely fish them slow, I almost never pull them steadily, either. I like a sputter or almost a stop and go burn.

Looking for a "name" to go on my all Electric Boat...
"Noah's ARC" (or Phil's)
-
Looking for a "name" to go on my all Electric Boat...
You might consider "Amped Up" or "Heavy current" or "Short on Cash"

Looking for a "name" to go on my all Electric Boat...
how about "High Voltage" with a lightning bolt as the underline.

rod wrappers...
That will work out great! You have several options for tensioners too.

Should I buy it?
If he really wanted to rip someone off, he would sell it online, or not be willing to meet for personal inspections. JMO

P-line and Izorline
Seems I have also heard that the CXX is pretty "xt-like". I wonder of the CX is the same? I've been reading up on Izorline... (I made the mistake of googling it) I have to admit I am intrigued. The platinum is said to be very tough and abrasion resistant, and I gather from other reports it would also act sort of like XT. I haven't found much on the xxx.

Should I buy it?
If it was "custom built", you better question him some more... unless they started offering that blank VERY recently. It is not available from any supplier that I know of. On blanks that are sold to builders, Loomis supplies a decal with blank information, but the blank is not marked to the naked eye. Also the decals Loomis supplies with blanks are not the same as the decals used on the factory rods... so if you see the factory decals, I'd feel safe. But if you are told it's custom and it has a "BCR" decal- you are being taken. Besides, no one sells a custom built GLX for $150... even if they are starving.

P-line and Izorline
Thanks, Gentlemen. I probably should clarify... whatever I end up trying, it will be in the #14, #17 & #20 ratings only. All on BC gear. Also any differences in cold weather noticed?

How far south?
I just assumed that the big ones were all north. My PB is 5/1 at Belton... lake record is mid 6's. I believe the Stillhouse record is high/middle 6 lbs.

How far south?
We have smallies in several Central Texas reservoirs. (not as big as up north but up to almost 7lbs)

P-line and Izorline
Looking to try something new... I'm looking at Izorline, P-line and Gamma. Any experiences you can share about these would be appreciated. Any possible comparisons to XT would be great as well. Thanks, Keith

09 Big Bass Hunt
Exactly!! As evidenced by so many big fish coming on drop shots, finesse worms, minnows (TX state record) and a variety of other small baits. Big baits do catch big fish but only when you are fishing where big fish swim.

How far can Thread go?
correction, most will be under a yard.

How far can Thread go?
a bunch of rods... on many guides, you'll use under a yard of thread

Should I make a Reamer?
Go buy a single 3" by 36" belt (coarse grit) for a belt sander... cut a 1/2" wide strip and epoxy it spiraled down an old blank. You'll get several reamers out of each belt. You can use any wax. I used regular turtle car wax and furniture wax in the beginning. I don't use wax anymore.
