  1. With the recent flood of complaints about ABA, this is gonna be interesting. No doubt that BASS has cut back on opens and other trails needed to help qualify for the Elite series. ABA might be just what the doctored ordered, or maybe not. Time to sit back and Matt.
  2. Xmas trees have been sunk before most of us were born. Xmas trees offer smaller bait a chance to hide in the denser limbs, thus crappie love Xmas trees and so do bass, but don't take my word for it, just look at fishing reports from good lakes that are void of timber and vegitation. Hit the docks with Xmas trees tied off them. If chemicals are a worry, look at all the lakes houses that fertilize their yards and think of the run off from those properties back into the lake. A mixure of brush is always a good choice, brush that extends vertical and horizontal makes good habitat. Matt
  3. jdw174, Welcome to the forum. Hookem Matt
  4. Same could be said about the majority of magazines and pricing, its moot point, they are all pretty much like that. Matt
  5. Rebates are available for those that buy the 1/4 lb spools of Big Game. http://image.basspro.com/images/images2/free-offers/BK%20Big%20Game%20Line%20offer3.pdf Matt.
  6. Hope this helps some, its not the one I was looking for. http://www.blackwell-synergy.com/doi/abs/10.1046/j.1439-0310.2001.00671.x?cookieSet=1&journalCode=eth I am still looking for one good article I have read. Matt
  7. Both. They both make excellent worms. I catch alot of big bass on 10 inch power worms, and brush hogs are excellent flipping baits. Matt.
  8. I don't see how USC can slip with their remaining games. USC is #3 with remaining games with Cal, rival UCLA, and Notre Dame, still two top 20 teams. I also don't think margin of victory is part of the equation, so a win is a win, even if its a comeback and by one point against the worst team in the country, it is still a win. USC controls their own destiny, and as close as the numbers are by BCS, one loss is gonna drop either UM or OSU enough for USC to over come. Matt
  9. Unless they have made a schedule change that has not been posted, the original date is in April, the 9th-15th, and their current site still shows it to be the same, it appears you may have the only booth that weekend. Matt.

That shows the age and design of that master piece. ??????? You think??? A lot of my older Hellbenders, lucky 13's and such have that same design, and I can say I have never lost a hook due to breakage. Matt
  12. So Raul, where can I find this insanely expensive japanese super extra ultra thin nanotechnological advanced space age multipolymer " ? Got any URL's? Do you use the standard Palomar knot with this kind of line? Or is there a new knot I must now learn. Any advice helpful. Thanks Matt.
  13. Theres another reason to prefish a lake. Safety. Safety, Safety!!!!!!!!! Prefishing for a pattern is one part of the equation. Learning the lakes navigatible waters is pretty high on my list. Knowing what coves offer shelter from winds. Knowing where marinas are located in case of emergencies. Learning where other ramps are located in case of break downs. Learning where that hidden stump is just under the surface with out going 50 mph to find it. I looked at 25 DFW and area clubs, I didn't find any local clubs that banned prefishing unless it is championship waters. This is very simple. Find a club that meets your requirements. Clubs vote on such issues, and it appears that the majority of clubs have no problem with allowing prefishing. We have too many lakes that are slammed by pleasure and tournaments, the 20 lb plus stringer still show up every weekend most of the time. Good lakes handles the pressure and the ones that don't speak for themselves as by the evidence of the catch rates with or without tourneys. Alot of clubs in the summer have iron man tourneys, we fish from dark til sun up, night fishing. If you don't know the lake in daylight hours, you shouldn't try to learn it at night. Matt.
  14. My bust on a typo, his name is Brent, and It was just a typo. Brent is one of many who have the same views towards Ike, and correct me if I'm wrong, but the best way to put someone in their place is to beat them consistently where it counts, on the water. Matt.
  15. http://keyetv.com/watercooler/local_story_313163750.html Hit the video link, after the commercial, a nice 8 pt buck video will appear. Nice Buck. Matt.
  16. Trust me Catt, this isn't about TX, and I'm not a USC fan at all. But they played Arkansas, whos only loss is to USC, they played Nebraska who will probably be the Big XII north Champ and was ranked like #17 when they played USC, then they will play Notre Dame. Most teams would suffer a loss on one of those three games. They get to play CAl, UCLA and NOtre Dame, and if they win, they aren't dropping, their going up, up, and up. Strength of Schedule couldn't be better coming into Dec for USC. How about the Scarlet Knights. I wished they would win out, no matter what rankings they get, I hape they run the tables on all remaining games. They showed they are very soldi team, too bad they don't have more quality games to be played other than UWV. Pitt, UL, and UWV isn't gonna be enough to get it done. But KUDOS to Rutgers. Matt. Matt
  17. Makes me want to buy some digital equipment, does the fish come with camera? LOL You are consistently producing nice bass, and those are 2 more to add to your list for 2006. Great job as always. Hookem matt
  18. My take on Ike has always been a work in progress. First, I defended his antics saying, "There are worst role models out there, and since when did fishing get seen by 10% of the population, given the publics chance to witness it first hand or by the early Sat. Morning viewing times. Then the flag incident came about. If I had any hindsight, I would have kept quite ( no laughing Please), (purely hindsight on that remark also). The guy can fish. The guy gives back to his fans long after the other guys have gone. Last point, Ike doesn't need his resume read for us, his is well known. Could someone tell me again about what Brett has done in his 12 years of BASS? LOL. Matt.
  19. I too have had the monkey under control, he and I have an understanding for the past few months. Our new BPS is opening this weekend 25 miles away. I know they will have big sales going on. He allowed me to save to get more bang for my buck. I loaned him to my daughter to tag along with her as she buys dear old Dad some stocking stuffers for Xmas already. I to have had the monkey under control, under his terms of course. Matt.

Catt, \\ what was the reason to try bubble gum in the winter? Was it because of the pink skirt.? I like off the wall choices because of past success, but for me to pick pink when I have never used one in the winter would be a reach for me to try. Matt
  21. Can you tell us your conditions that you have tried in? Afternoons, mornings with the sun up, cloudy, windy, blue-bird day? Water temps, clarity of the water? What baits did you try and what was the conditions? Welcome to the forum, Matt.

I'll take Southern Fried any day. Got love the older bands also. CCR, Canned Heat, Eagles, America, Van Halen J Giles to the Allmand Bro. BlackOak Arkansas, Rainbow, UFO, Thin Lizzy and a whole bunch already listed in these eras. Bob Seger is an all time favorite, but then again so is Marshall Tucker and Loggins and Messina. Matt.
  23. Any answer that requires multiple syllables is a bad idea. Short and Sweet, NO. Its a no win situation either way, cause if she didn't feel fat, she wouldn't ask. And any answers that start with Well, Baby, Why, Uh, or How should I know? Your gonna suffer some where along the way. Could be the diet she starts means you gotta eat the same stuff she cooks for herself. Or the usual punishments we have to suffer thru. Age, weight and appearence are notorious fight starters. Matt.
  24. A loss is a loss. Who else, if we are looking at one loss teams have played a tougher schedule out of conference? Florida? Tenn? Texas, Mich, if they lose, Lousiville, UWV? Who played the tougher non conference games? OU should be looked at with one loss also. There true loss would be TX. And they would have been ranked a lot higher when they played, so does TX get credit, no. Auburn, what quality wins do they have out of conf? The risk of having a tough out of conf. schedule can take you out of the title chase, but is rewarding when you run the tables. Pac 10 may be having down year or just parity, but USC didn't control that aspect of the season, but did have control over quality non conf. schools. I see USC rising if they keep winning. USC vs Cal with be big jump for either, specially if cal wins, their only loss at this time would be to Tenn on the road. Matt.
  25. Strength of Schedule may not be tabulated, but quality wins should have some value in voting in AP and so on. I think as I tried to show one conference, the SEC, how basically 4 teams have been contending over the years, and they each usually give each other a loss. Its very easy to see when you look at Kentucky's win loss against teams. I haven't looked, but would suspect that in a ten year period, UK would not have a 2-8 record over the top 4 teams in conference and the same could be said about the other whipping posts. I would say they have parity within the conf. but the only way I see a clear cut top 10 team is to play another top 10 team in another conf. Years past, you could coast, now I think you must take a chance, look at OSU last year, we beat them on the road in their house, that pretty much put us in the drivers seat. OSU did the same this year, the down fall is, if you lose, you put your self in a deep hole in trying to climb back up the BCS rankings. I love my horns, and also think UT is not the same UT that played OSU the 2nd game of the season. I still think USC vs OSU is the game that should be played if OSU beats UM solid, that means USC must win out, with non-conf. wins over Arkansas, Nebraska, and soon to play Notre Dame. You have no control over injuries or how tough your conf. will be this year, on paper, it looks tough, but things happen during the season that you never have control over in your conf. If Rutgers wins out, they have quality wins over Illinois, Louisville and UWV, is a 33-0 win over the Illini quality? Just who have UL and UWV played, Miami is not the same team of years past. Would it be enough for Rutgers to go undefeated and get into the NCS game? I'll root for the underdogs to get it done because they haven't ever had a cinderella year like this for decades. Gonna be interesting going into Dec. Hookem Matt.
