  1. First off, fish when you can regardless of moon phases. If you read articles where bodies of water recieves influx of tides, it does help position fish during active periods. But the majority of lakes do not have high or low tides due to moon phases. I agree that during spring, and if the weather and other conditions are met, the first wave of spawners can be seen as around the full moon. Mother nature doesn't always agree with the lunar charts, so go fish when you can. Matt.

You didn't hear about the biosonix this year. It was widely advertised last year and KVD'S 3 wins in a roll. I think that competitive events have put a hold on most of the so called Toys. I know lots of guys with 3000.00 units on their boats and they don't know how to take advantage of the technology. As long as someone is buying the products, they'll keep making them and it doesn't matter whether you fish for money or pleasure. You can have a stock car, that doesn't make you a nascar driver. Matt.
  3. Get rid of the SEC teams and BCS possibilities. They played a soft schedule like Texas does, and having parity in conference doesn't make them a power house. SEC has the same 6 teams over the years as whipping post, easy wins. 2 Mississippi colleges, Vandy Alabama Ark Kentucky South CArolina ARkansas. Thats 8 teams that haven't been a real contender for years. That leaves Georgia who almost got beat by Colorado at home 13-14, Fla, Tenn, Auburn and LSU, the same teams beating up on each ohter every year. The sec is tough, but not the best conf. and they don't test them selves by playing ohter power houses early. When have these teams been a contender, serious contender for the sec championship. Florida has 8 home games this year, and very soft non-conference schedule. The only two teams that played anyone out of conference was Ark vs USC and Vandy vs Michigan. No other non-conf. games meant anything, very weak. Look at Fla. schedule, SOS is weak, yet they ranked them up high in BCS, no way they deserve that. Matt.
  4. The rules and practices are known up front. The option of not joining the club is the choice to make. Find one that suits your choice. Nobody is making a living off club tourneys, it is to get out and fish. First off, club rules are voted on in most cases. Officers are elected as who President and so on. Take a vote, if majority wins, either continue to fish the club or find one that is in your best interest. Matt.
  5. I wouldn't penalize the guys who get to do what we want to do. Fish. This is a club, clubs are supposed to be laid back. Most fish a club and not a trail to get away from the politics and rat race. Commraderie seems important to clubs, the very thing the Friday nite camp fire shows. One alternative is to fish the club tourney on Sun so others have the option to pre-fish Sat. Pre-fishing varies from lake to lake. Some lakes can take the pressure, some can't. I have read that its good to keep some fish in the livewell after encountering a school. It has be said that bass emit a scent, PHERMONE, I think, that warns other fish when immediately released. Matt.
  6. Drop shotting with heavy mono works well on Fork. Matt.
  7. A little update, I haven't had a cig since the end of the 3rd quarter of the national championship game Jan. 4th 2006. My horns put me to the test that night. I have puffed on a few cigars from time to time. Cali, this probably isn't what you were talking about was it. Matt.
  8. The advice of tieing a loop not or flemish knot is just as key as the motion. There are a lot of new limp lines that can be tied with a standard palomar knot, but the right knot allows you to impart this action easier. Matt.
  9. Vick is one of the winningest QB's playing. Whether he throws or runs, he's dangerous because of both. One thing Vick hasn't had is a full core of good recievers. He's had Crumpler and one reciever, but when has he had talent on both sides? The bears proved they have a ***** in the armor against the Cardinals. They can be beat if the QB has an off day. Gonna be interesting season. Giants are 5-2 and playing well, but remember Pittsburg last year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its good to play well early to put wins up, but "peaking" at the right time is the key to making a strong run in the playoffs. Lets see who is playing well and strong in Dec, thats when they really count. Matt.
  10. I kiss almost every bass, but its not the kiss, its the words that follow. I thank each bass for giving me a moment of their time. Thank you bretheren for the moment. Kiss and release. Matt.
  11. You never know who has came out and done what. Could be natural, could disease, could be done by man poaching. There are numerous types of chemical available to public that when used, takes oxygen out of waters, the smaller fish are effected first, and larger one later. Ask the experts? Matt.

Avid, Do you ever use the hellbenders? Not quite the same design of metal bill, but sure does seem to catch fish still. Matt.
  13. Dirk, do what you need to do, we'll understand. Fork will be here another time when the boys are ready to experience Fork, they'll be welcome also. Matt.
  14. I'll take Tom Brady and their defense. I will also take the running game of the Patriots, if they can eat clock up, they keep Peyton on the sidelines. Keeping Peyton on the sidelines is the best defense, and that doesn't always mean he loses. Matt.
  15. Freshwater Cowboy, Welcome to the forum. Matt.
  16. What was it he did lately that qualified him for the 2006 Elite Series? I think anyone who could come up with the money was qualified. Jimmy has earned his spot in history, but not sure he earned his spot on this tour. Matt.
  17. No one is perfect. The trotliner who doesn't mark his trotlines as per state laws. The jet fleas (jet ski's) and other PWC that buzz behind you to jump your wake. The wake board boats that blast their music. The crappie fishermen who leaves their ropes hanging under bridges to tie up to again. The guy who's beer can or soda pop cans that is floating across the water. The bass fishermen who lets his empty zoom worm ziplock bag float across the water. It isn't just bass boats who fish in tournaments, their are lots of pleasure fishermen who exhibit this type of behavior also. With all this being said. I do think that most of these cases are on PUBLIC WATERS. These same folks that decided to live on the water and have lake front lots are aware of what goes on a public lake. Allowing someone to post one side of this is letting the public be mis-informed. How many fishermen, tournament or not, get up early and go fish? Thats just blaming, and pointing the finger at a very small percentage of guys. Public is exactly what it is. Some one who goes to the lengths to plan an outing of peacefull fishing should find out more details before going to a Public lake. Poor planning on their part doesn't mean that a boat zooming at 60 mph is breaking any ordinance or restrictions. Getting too close is showing lack of courtsey, but then again most stories are told to sway the side of one opinion or other. Rudiness happens in stores, parking lots, freeways, sidewalks, and just about everywhere theres public. Its a small percentage compared to the paved roads we all share. Public is the key in this topic, and I'm sorry some forget how to behave in public. Matt.
  18. Too early to say, but the Giants and Bears are the two best as of now for the NFC. AFC has San Diego, Denver, New England, and Indy. Tony Romo can play, if he limits his rookie mistakes and play like he did Sunday night, the boys might get a wild card. Matt.
  19. Did you read what *** posted on 10/4/06. Matt.
  20. That was a good response, and I needed a laugh today. Thanks Matt
  21. Bubba has done some field testing for the guys coming down from the north. We think Truimph boats may be right for fishing Fork when bumper boating becomes the norm in the shallows. http://www.toughboats.com/index.cfm?subpage=SendToAFriend&page=4 Matt
  22. For those that are not familar with Fork and the Marina most are staying at. Its located about 1/2 ways back in Williams creek next to the hwy 17 bridge. This bridge narrows, so the fish who are preparing to stage for spawn will be located on the edges of the timber on the sides of the creek and funneled under the narrow bridge. Crappie will be on the brush that has been planted by other fishermen also. You can motor over at night with out running into any timber and tie up on the edge about 200 yds away from your Lodge. No real dangers to worry about as long as you observe your surroundings in the daytime. Last year, the crappie were staging on the brush piles under the boat house, and out in the channels. Some big bass was also caught off the dock by other guests. 8 and 9 while blind casting to open waters. Matt.
  23. Permain bass club. http://members.aol.com/dondonbass/howto/index.htm Was born in Odessa, but now reside in God's country a few miles from Lake Fork. Matt.
  24. I nailed one out in front of your lodge that was close 4lbs with a spinner bait. I did tear up quite a few off of your covered boat dock also. Matt.
  25. This is a great time of the year to work on spoons, something most anglers don't try very often, but is very effective when fish are deep and suspended. Matt.
