Ike has been offered new Boat deal....
Ike, according to another site has been offered a boat deal with Legend Boats. Doesn't say he has taken the offer, but one has been offered. Legend Boats are becoming very popular here in the south or should I just say Texas. They appear to be very durable, looks very good, and from my friends and others, are very dependable. With Ike onboard, I see their stock rising if he accepts. Matt.

Differences in high and low priced fish finders?
You will be better suited to put a quality unit on the dash and a cheaper one on the trolling motor. Things that make things cost more. More pixels for better resolution. More power output from transducer Cone angle ( the amount of coverage you see with that transducer)....15 degrees, 20 degrees ...... Types of transducers, Thru-hull, transom mount, 3-D Gps Color- Once you have used a Black and white for awhile, you will understand why color graphs can't be beat. Display size. Best thing to do is wait for the new Fishing Expos that will be kicking off late Dec early Jan and go watch some of the demo models to see what you like. Matt

suspender type PFD's
Game Warden explained it this way yesterday. If it is a Type III PFD it is legal and if it is Type V, it is not legal unless worn the whole time out. If you flipped your boat, the Type 5 would sink where as the Type III would float. A Legal PFD that doesn't have to worn 24/7 is one that will float. Note, not all Sospenders that automatically inflate are given type III status, there are some on the market that do not meet USGC standards according to the GW. My understanding is Type II are floatation devices. Type III are floatation "aides" Type V's are "special Use Devices" Test are conducted thru the Commandants office of the USGC. There is not one state that doesn't follow USGC recommendations as per taining to boating safety and general navigatble waters. matt

Ohio State Buckeyes or Michigan Wolverines
Michigan barely beat Ball state at home, if you schedule cream puffs, you better put up 50 points, and thats something Mich. didn't do against any of those cream puffs. Northwestern gave them a test, Minn. gave them a test. They just didn't dominate those weaker teams like they should have. At least Florida scored 62 on a div II team, well, isn't that the way Michigan should have beat the lesser teams? One game with a margin of victory of 31 points against either INdiana or Illinois. All the others were less than 30, that really show something. If USC wins out, they will be the #2 team, and they do have a shot a winning, Pete Carroll is no slouch when it comes to NC games. USC was given no chance losing 85% of its offense, Linehart, Bush, White, and USC is reloaded and ready to play. NOt even one year later, Pete has them in position to play for a fourth title. Matt.

Insert Joke Here...
Some people would rather be poor and happy at what they do,, than be rich and miserable at what they do. That is one thing I tried to bestow upon my daughters. If you aren't happy with your choice of career, you will take that unhappiness home to the family. Better to love what you do, than be miserable at a good paying job. Matt.

crawfish and their claws
Craws are a favorite staple in winter time for needed protien to develope the eggs. Most live baiters will pinch the pinchers off to keep the craw from grabbing or latching on to something on bottom. Never had a problem with live or plastic craws. They work, and work well. Matt.

suspender type PFD's
I purchased the Stearns SOS"s for around 75 bucks at BPS, its manual inflate with co2 or blow-up tube. I concur with Billy Bob as to not counting as a legal PFD unless its worn 24/7 while in the boat. I was under the impression that the auto inflate does count as a legal PFD since it will inflate on its own as per the Game Warden who stopped us on Fork this year when LBH and crew was down. Since we carry the vest also, we were not cited for not having them on, but was asked to what type and he explained that we were okay because we had the vests in the boat, so we are legal. I can't see how one would be legal in one state and not another. I will ask about it later today for clarification on Texas laws. I like the light weight in the summer, its alot cooler, and I just undo one snap and drape it over the steering wheel with the kill switch still attached. If you fish by yourself, and wear a vest to begin with, I would not recommend them, if you were to get knocked unconscientous, you would not float unless you have the auto inflate, and who is to say it will work. I do know that is all I had in the Navy at my GQ station, auto inflate and manual tube. They have been around for ever. As for wearing the manual inflates in cold waters, again, I would consider how fast hypothermia can set in and give you problems trying to grab and inflate it while trying to get back onboard. I like them in the summer months only. Safety first. Matt.

Max HP ?
USGC rates all boats for motor sizes. I do know that most of the trails I fish will disqualify you for running an oversized motor that doesn't not meet the USGC Label plate that comes with all boats now days. Max HP rating plate says 100HP, then its 100 horses Max. I understand that motors and technological break throughs have a lot lighter motors out there to replace the older heavier motors, but speed and stability are key concerns as well as weight distribution. The USGC is the one who could best answer that question of legalality. Matt

Why Is The Abbreviation For Christmas "Xmas?"
I never looked at it that way, it was just a short abbreviation. Ever try to put Merry Christmas on one of those small To: and From: tags on a present, sometimes its hard and Merry Xmas was easier. Matt.

Ohio State Buckeyes or Michigan Wolverines
If I made the whole list from Pac 10 and Big 10, Big 10's list would be very bare of any good teams, a handful. Go ahead and post the Big tens cream puffs to be fair. Its simple, you brought up the records of Pac 10, but failed to show just how much of a difference there is in schedule strenght, and there is no comparison to who the pac 10 played when compared to the Big Ten. Not even close. Matt

Ohio State Buckeyes or Michigan Wolverines
USC played better teams than Michigan and Wisconsin, and no one should be puninshed for conference strength. When your conference is down, thats were the non conference strength show up and Michigan and Wisc. don't get any points for playing cream puffs period. Only two teams under 500 overall and the Pac 10 plays a few good teams out of conference. Tenn, Ark, Auburn, Boise St, Lsu, OU twice, and ND 3 times. Big ten can't even come close to showing that kinda of non conf. scheduling. The big non conf games for the Big Ten, Rutgers who won, Penn State lost to ND, Cal beats MInn, Osu beats TEXAS, Pittsburg gets beat by Purdue, ND beats MSU, ND beats Purdue, and ND gets beat by Michigan. Notice the contenders didn't play the tough schedule, it the rest of the Big Ten who played better teams. Don't care how weak the Pac 10 is, USC has done its part so far. How many BCS teams did Michigan beat, 2, ND and Wisc and Wisc. doesn't deserve the ranking, they didn't play anyone other than Michigan. How many BCS teams will USC have played, Ark, Cal, ND. Better find a different angle, because you can't win strength of schedule or show that the Big Ten within is all that either. And the same goes for the Big Ten, 6 out of 11 teams have loosing records, the sixth best team in conf. is 3-5 and there are 5 more teams that are 3-5 or worse. Not much of a comparison, and Big Ten had the softiest non conf. schedule out of the two conferences and theres no comparison at all. Its USC's to lose. Hookem Matt Matt.

Ohio State Buckeyes or Michigan Wolverines
Catt, nothing above average about Michigans schedule. It speaks for itself, nothing great, two good wins. What other non conf wins boosts their strength of schedule? ND and Wiscnonsin are the only good tests, and the last one they failed, OSU, so no, they don't deserve a second shot at OSU. Vanderbilt Central Michigan Notre Dame Wisconsin Minnesota Michigan St Penn st Iowa Northwestern Ball State Indiana Ohio state. On the same note, Wisconsin who is the 3rd best team at 11-1 and 7-1 in conf. played Bowling Green, western Ill., SDSU, Mich and lost, Indiana, NorthWestern, Minn, Purdue, Illinois, Penn St, Iowa and Buffalo. No Notre Dame, no OSU, really a tough schedule. Wheres the creditable wins? Other than Michigan beating Notre Dame and Ohio State beating Texas, what other notable wins are there? Who? Look at the Pac 10, they played Ark, Nebraska, Tenn, Auburn, Boise State, LSU, Minnestota, OU, and OU, ND 3 times. Seems to me the Pac 10 plays outside the box unlike other conferences. I have said before that Florida played 8 out of 12 games at home. Their only tests thus far have been in conference, and parity in that conference shows, but doesn't make you a title contender either. How do you expect us to believe in Florida when they schedule a Division II college? 62-0 means nothing, shows nothing, and thats just one of the weak non conf games they played this year. Its USC's to lose. Matt.

Ohio State Buckeyes or Michigan Wolverines
That not true, USC has played to toughiest non conference schedule. USC played Arkansas and won something like 50-14, they beat a ranked Nebraska who is big XII north Champ, and will play Notre Dame. If they beat ND, they would have beaten 3 of the top ten BCS teams, Ark, ND, and Cal. Their offense can hang with most teams and their defense isn't bad. Michigan had its one game playoff to see who represented the Big TEN, and OSU won. Matt.

Ohio State Buckeyes or Michigan Wolverines
All bets are off. I don't think Lloyd Carr will have to say anything to his team and what Bo meant to Michigan football. One thing for sure, if OSU has any class and I believe they do, they will give moment of silence before the game tomorrow. Can't say how this will inspire Michigan. Matt.

Got goe with OSU also. I think it will take 30 points to beat OSU and I don't think OSU will give up 30 to Michigan at home. OSU 34-17 Matt

New Lure coming out.
Anyone had the chance to see a new lure coming out that doesn't move from the spot it was cast to. A Top water/medium diver. The lure has multiple possibilities, can dive up to 8' or less by position of the rod tip. You can walk the dog with half the action required on a spook type bait just by giving it a half wind. Shaking the rod tip and half a wind gives it surface flutter like injured bait fish. The patent on this bait was 1998, its taken a few years to get the bugs out. The current protype was made from wood, two pieces that are hinged. The finished product will come from ABS plastic early 2007. A top water bait that dives or doesn't move when on top. Will this be the "new lure of 2007" like the "chatterbait" was in 2006? Matt.
