Tournament payback
When you say series, is there a championship involved? The more places you pay makes it more attractive to recieve a check. The real question involved is, what is pay back? 90% or 70% or what? !00 teams at 100 bucks is 10K, and what is the payback? If no championship, whats your take? Is big bass optional or part of entry? Matt

ishama monroe?
Care to define the "s" comments? Color comment and the s comment I think you are talking s as in South or southern, and IMHO, you just did what you accused others of doing. I'd back off. You ain't much better in my book for what you just did. I have no cares about civil war trivia that happened way before I was born here in the s. I have no dog in this hunt, but I am from the south and you just disrepected us all with you "IMHO" as being closed minded. Matt Matt.

Best Pro To Learn From
I love cranks, and David Fritts is the master in my book. If Jigs was on the menu, then Denny is the master. Spinner baits is a no brainer, KVD is the man. Lite line applications, it would be pretty hard to go wrong with Aaron Martens. Rick Clunn, no explanation needed, 4 classics!!!!! Matt

ShareLunker #425-Lake Fork!!
Basschaser Alls I heard was they took him to the cross roads store? Does that mean anything to you, I have two guess on where that store may be located which a person could have came from the east arm or West on one of those stores. my thoughts are the west arm, Birch or above. Just a guess. Fork has caught some water, and so has other area lakes in desperate need of a drink. Matt.

Intro and winter fishing El Cap
Welcome to the forum. I left Lakeside in 94. Can you catch me up on the area lakes in San Diego County. Are they only allowing you to fish from sun up to sun down still? Still charging daily ramp fee, park use fee, and Launch fee? How much now? Have you tried San V yet? any others? Nice to have you on the forum. Hookem Matt

How About Dem Tigers!
Congrats to the Tigers, I had no doubts of the outcome. LSU, In my opinion has one of the best pro-prospects at QB. Quinns numbers are inflated on the lesser teams they played, his numbers weren't as good against the better teams. I think Hawaii's QB and LSU's are the two best QB's. We will see draft day. I'm betting that the rest of the SEC wishes he goes pro. Congrats on the win. matt

ShareLunker #425-Lake Fork!!
ShareLunker #425 has a story with it. Supposedly Chris hooked the fish and passed the rod over to 7 year old Parker who reeled it in until he got it close to the boat. Then handed the rod back to Dad to land. Father and son team work puts #425 in the books. The Specifics Caught on Thursday Dec. 28, 2007 Lake Fork Weight 13.4 Length 24.75 inches Girth 20.5 inches Bait Rapala X Rap Moon Phase FQ+1 For those that has seen the post on Fork in the Central area. Infishermen is airing a show this week that covers the efforts that are being made in Texas to produce larger bass. I haven't watched this weeks episode, but I'm thinking its talking about the ShareLunker program. Jan. 8, at 3:30 and 6:30 CST, the Infishermen does a night session on Fork filmed in June on with Guide Ritchie White. Check out Infishermen.com to see all the air times for those two shows. They air more than one day on the Outdoor channel.

So, What Did You Get For Christmas?
I had a great Christmas. One of the gifts I got was hand made by my girlfriend. She made a culling beam from scratch. Made from a 1"x 2", she drilled the holes on the ends, inserted brads and installed the hooks from a metal stringer. She did the same in the middle and installed a nice handle that can hook to something also if you wanted to hang it. She branded the wood on both sides and ends with the UT logo and centered in the middle "Hookem". I couldn't be more proud of this gift. I had put a culling beam from bass pro on the list. This one beats them all. Matt.

BOISE ST
Ark., Neb, ND, They are not even close to Central Michigan, Bowling Green, or any other teams, no comparison. Ark lost 3 games, but to who? Pretty darn good team, just like Neb. and ND. Again, what other teams put them selves out there like USC does? USC vs UCLA first off, its rivialry game, so to say USC lost to an unranked opponent that was 8-4 is no cream puff. Neb is not the Tom Osborne team we are used to, but they aren't a Florida Atlantic team either. Trust me, I don't care for USC, but they do play a tougher schedule than 98% of the elite teams out there. If colleges want a play off system, and its about money, they stand to lose more than they gain. Keep in mind that in high school, education is still key, or is important to most. Should be in COLLEGE also!!! You lose about 200 games if you install a playoff system in college, and the smaller schools depend on what gate and concessions bring in. Regular season would be shorter and less games to be played. Playoffs work for the top 6 conf. who already get automatic bid. Heres the kicker, as been proposed, and 8 team playoff will reguire playoffs to see who makes the playoffs. lol thats funny, a play off to determine who makes the playoffs. Do you think USC, OU, Mich, WVU, OSU, Rut., UL, Florida, BSU, ND, Auburn, LSU, ARK, Tenn, CAl and others don't think they should get a shot at the playoffs. Looks like more than 8 team want to play. How do you determine who plays? The only way to seperate the top teams is by playing better non conf teams. Either way will still leave people saying they got cheated and left out. It won't solve the problems. Why have lesser teams that have went undefeated not get in? They didn't play anyone above the talent level ahead of them to gage how good they can be. To keep the existing Bowls going, and install playoffs, you shorten the season with 200 games being lost, thats only 2 weks, but thats alot of money to lesser schools who buy in. Do the Math! Matt.

BOISE ST
Its not a bad rap, its printed in black and white. They played Notre Dame and Wisconsin. Wisconsin had a great year, but played cream puffs for their non conference schedule, and didn't face Ohio St. or Notre Dame. Wisc. toughiest test was Mich. and they lost. What other test did they face? No one!!! Mich, OSU, USC all beat Notre Dame, rather convincingly. Michigan couldn't even beat Bowling Green until late 4th quarter at home. USC on the other hand, played Arkansas opening day. USC played Ark, Neb, and Notre Dame. Anyone care to tell me who played tougher non conf. schedule than USC? They could have done the same as Michigan or Wisc. and played no bodies, yet, if they win, they put them selves ito postition for the national title. If lesser schools want to have a shot, they need to go play tougher programs to show they are for real. Don't get me wrong, I love the Broncos over the past 6 years, they are exciting to watch. I know the Broncos only seat 30,000 fans at home and no large program will play there, but thats no excuse for not playing some one on their turf. Catt, if OSU loses, and Florida isn't impressive with the win, why should Boise State be Co-champs? Why not BCS Champ period? I look at OU with one loss, the Oregon St loss was Bull, and beating a one loss team such as OU, well, most saw the game, and it was one of the best games played all season. matt

best present angler
For the record, KVD threw his rod in the water this year, a little temper tantrum displayed on TV after he lost a fish, he's not perfect either, one DQ, and theres no excuse for not knowing the standing rules he's fished by for years. He's human just like the rest of us. Should have, could have, would have caught one more fish, but he didn't. Ike missed one cut all year, and how many others can say the same. We saw one of the best trail going to all parts of the country and IKe was consistent 10 out of 11 events, and was contender in the 3 majors also. You can see the FLW anglers gets no respect from looking at this thread. I love KVD, but this year he was 3rd in AOY standings behind a rookie, and IKe, I think IKE wins this round for 2006, and until 2007 starts, IKE is presently the guy on top. Matt.

BOISE ST
Almost as good as the UT vs USC game. I still think if you want to be considered a contender, and your not one of the big 6, you need to schedule games that shows your a contender. BSU played one of the best games I've seen since the horns game. Congrats to the program, the players, and their loyal fans who travelled down to support them. As with Michigan, the only quality win was over Wisconsin, one win does not make you a contender just because you played Ohio State tough. Same with Boise State, their best win was over Oregon State, and thats one quality win during the season. This season sure has given both sides more fuel, playoffs or no playoffs. Personally, if teams would schedule the tougher non conf. games, we wouldn't need a playoff system most years. Matt.

Texans, I need your help
Actually, 45 minutes up the road is the state hatchery in charge of the Share lunker program in Athens. Lots of displays, ponds, tanks and exhibits to look at, along with this years 13+ bass in their brood tanks. Could be as many as 20 or 30 Bass, just depends on the fishing. #2 has been reported from Fork before the weekend, but has not posted yet. Worth the visit to ask biologists and others good questions. Will check on what area events will be running in that time frame. Matt.

I'd like to change my vote all together. With that Poll, it kinda makes you lean towards the BASS and doesn't give FLW angers any mention which is biased. I think Luke Clausen won both the BassMasterClassic and the FLW Championship this year. It will be along time before any one does that again. Luke Clausen gets my vote. Matt

best present angler
The topic is "BEST PRESENT ANGLER". I believe theres a difference in Past and Present, and presentlly, Mikey is the best by his accomplishments, not based on opinion, rather his merits. Matt.

4 Classics is hard to beat. Clunn over the ages. Ike is the reinging AOY. That makes him the best angler this year!!! That also cover consisentency, that is how you earn angler of the year, and also, how many cuts did Ike fail to miss? KVD? Facts are Facts. Matt.

Gonna be some one coming behind me and asking about GYCB's, Culprits, Gene Larews, Reaction Innovations, Lake Fork Tackle, and others. I myself like different worms for different lakes. majority would be zoom and Berkley power worms. Matt.

Suggestions For Your First Tacklebox
RW, I think that your first tackle box was designed with no brainer baits that requires chunk and wind to catch a fish and not much thought needed. You hit the nail on the head. Its the same baits I would offer to a person who has never had much experience. Great tackle box, its designed to have instant fun and success. Matt.

My game day. . . gig'em Aggies!!

B.A.S.S. and A.B.A. join forces
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year back at you and every one else!! I was asking for facts that you stated as to be truths. Can you give us some of the districts that are in decline. Numbers? I say that because, we have so many great choices in Tx with, some have ties to FLW and BASS, but we have great trails for the weekend warrior, not too mention the great bass clubs that have open tourneys also. I respect your opinion and your common sense. My post just ask this, and I don't even know how many districts the ABA has, you state they are down, far as I know, you may be talking about a few districts in your neck of the woods, and thats not showing the whole picture. In all fairness to the ABA, there is too many choices, great choices in Tx, and all the FLW and BASS series in TX didn't have full fields for the past few years. Is that a knock on FLW and BASS when all the other trails are not getting full fields either? I don't call any of those trails a failure, because there are so many choices to fish. With all do respect, what state and region do you fish from. How many other trails are in your area? How about the guys that don't have 20 trails in there area and are forced to fish one trail! If you fish a small weekend series, and its all about the money, maybe you should step on up to one of the bigger trails that have full fields so you can get more bang for your buck. All or most trails pay back % of entries, so in all fairness, your trail pays ya'll back based on your numbers of entries recieved. This is just a suggestion. If you want larger fields in your area, then the negative press you keep generating is not going to help you achieve your wants of having a full field. Hook'em Matt
