  1. Will the winning stringer consist of spots or Largemouths? Will the winning angler target both? You could win or lose the classic just on your game plan alone!!! Spots or LM! Guys like Wirth and Marten would be strong contenders for spots and persuing offshore structure for spots. What is the strength of your angler and why did you select him to win? I still like Tak, he excels on lakes with cooler water, great lipless bait and shallow water cranker, he will target the Largemouth bite for bigger bass. I also like Kelly Jordan, another guy who excels in shallow water LM fishing. Care to break it down for the rest of us? Hookem Matt
  2. When I get home to night, I'll look for a website or number. Part of the proceeds of this book goes to the Childrens Miracle Network. Great deal for all. Matt
  3. Riverat, Firstoff, welcome to the information highway of bass fishing. What a great detailed report, you will find a group of guys who will enjoy those types of reports. I would love to see a picture of the modified spoon w/ inline spinner. again, Welcome and hookem from Tx. Matt
  4. A very good bait, sometimes I use the garlic marker to make the tail chartrues in the winter. Matt
  5. Anyone recall seeing a BASS event were a few competitors had to lasso one of the competitors boats off dry ground? I don't recall if it was a federation tourny or what, but the guy got caught in some one boat wake and ran ashore. Took two boats to tow him off the beach. I bet he gets embarrassed every time they show that clip. matt
  6. I got my info off of the Inside line. Gary Y's site. Matt
  7. I love the Bomber series, which used to be excalibur baits in suspending models. To get to the real deep waters, I use Mann's 30+ in saltwater tackle, works great for deep bass. Matt
  8. Is there any way I can get dis-ability with this illness? I could use the time off to heal with pay. Matt
  9. Yep, getting swarmed by hornets sounds like a good stunt to do. They are funny. I can't recall how many times I have hit a receiver hitch, and boy do they hurt. Matt
  10. Can I borrow that one Roger? Its too funny not to pass on!!!! Matt.
  11. If I had to profile an individual for screening of Peta members, he'd be one that fits the mold. LOL Matt
  12. Matt Fly replied to Catt's topic in Everything Else
What a story book ending if the Saints could win it all. I bet the lead in stories to Super Bowl Sunday show some flash backs to the days when paper bags was standard issue at the ticket window. Catt, I sure would love to be on Bourbon Street the night the Saints win it all. Could be one of the all time best street parties ever. Good luck, I watched Drew Brees play in HS at Westlake, he has always been a class act. Matt.
  13. A guy from PETA applies for a job at a animal testing facility. Could have happen to a better guy. http://www.broadcaster.com/video/player.php?clip=393 Matt.
  14. As for why you can't respond on the website, have you paid for the membership that gives you that right? I found that out just by visiting one time. There are different levels of memberships, A standard membership only, does not give you access to their forum, just allows you to fish their trails. I found that out upon my first visit, you would think that some that has fished that trail for years would already know that. As for them wanting there name in neon lights, if what we have seen on here is an slight indication, an all out attack would ensue. I wouldn't either. Common sense! Matt
  15. For blue bird skies, clear water, I like white, chrome w/ blu back, Tenn. shad colored cranks by bomber. Spinner baits with silver willow leafs and white skirts, or a white/blue skirt. Translucent skirts are best. For cloudy days, I still like white cranks, some times with Chartrues on the backs, instead of Blue backs, black or dark colored with chrome sides. I go with brass blades on spinners baits with white, white/chartreus. Clear water gives bass a chance to feed by sight, so lures that look life like are the ticket, normally moving pretty good. I also don't like any rattles or noise with crystal clear water. With water so clear, bass are normally spooky, so the less noise the better. Matt
  16. Primarily in the winter in Tx when red baits dominate catch rates. Other than that, I haven't seen a difference in catch rates. Matt
  17. The use of a nail allows for finese fishing of certain baits. As Hawgin mentioned, placing the nail into certain baits makes them fall different. I use the lead nails as flechero mentioned, you can bend and brake a nail easy with your hands, and use the amount of weight you see fit. I recommend the use of a pool or clear water area to experment with the placement of weights and fall rates. Learning which rigs will give you backwards motion on the fall helps get baits under docks and structures easier. Matt
  18. I have a book that is writtten by 10 guides from Fork on Fork. Each guide covers all 12 months individually. This book didn't cost 300.00, but is worth the price I paid. I wouldn't sell it ever. I have fished Fork religously for 11 years, and I still learn something new all the time, new spots, new tricks, magical stumps that seem to always hold good fish most of the year. One of my partners, Willie, fished with one of the authors, Willie mentioned to him that he bought the book, and ask him if his inputs were public knowledge, or public holes that every one knows about. Rick Carter mentioned that in his July chapter, he mentioned 3 spots, and he proceeded to take Willie to all 3. 62 fish later, Rick asked him if he had any doubts on his spots. Rick proceeded to tell Willie after the day was over, that those first two spots on his list that he was fishing this week have all produced multiple double digit bass this week for Clients. Willie was repeat customer many times with Rick, and Rick just wanted Willie to catch the double digit bass he has been after. I would pay 300.00 as long as I know who the contributors are. Matt
  19. My Dad and personal experiences from being able to fish a multiple varieties of lakes across the country. Matt
  20. Some lakes just have magical spots. Before I die, I will make a trip to Varner. Awesome way to start of the day, looking at Hawgs. Thanks Randall, takes my mind off the hospital closing for awhile. I want to kiss one of those Varner hawgs some day. Matt
  21. Shad, I asked D Hannon the same question this morning about bass giving off a phermone that alerts other fish. Matt
  22. You have Pat Summit and you brag about dancing? With Coach Knight approaching the mens all time win record in basketball, I thought ESPN and others have slighted Pat Summits accomplishments as a womans coach. Coach Summit and Ladies Basketball are always a threat for a real national title. Matt
  23. Cindy is not your typical blond or is she? I have watch her show this last season, she eats anything once. some of the stuff she ate would gross out Fear Factor competitors. I watched her in Aftrica with a tribe, where they bring in the cows for breakfast, they took a blunted arrow and shot the cow in the jugular or another vien that flowed large amounts of blood into a gord vase mixed with flour. That is their one source of food for the day. Blood and flour doesn't sound like my kind of breakfast any day. I watched her dig large grub worms from trees to eat. She is not your average city girl. Matt
  24. I told my self, I just don't see it in Texas, I see 1000's of boats every weekend, and no way fishing is declining in Texas. Well, according to all the TPW web sites, the numbers in Tx, the numbers of fishing licenses sold have decline for the most part. As for the amount of money being spent, theres no decline there. I'd have to agree with the thought process of the internet, Playstations, and modern technology being some contributing factors. What has increased over the years is the amount of families that now own water toys such as jet ski's and such. I don't see a decline in lake usage at all, maybe why I was hesitant on believing the numbers. The people are still at the lakes, just not fishing as much. I concur with Chris and others, if our numbers drop, some special interest groups will have their say someday. Matt
