  1. Lebron scored the last 25 points straight and 29 out of the final 30 points scored. One of the best solo performances I 've witnessed in along time. Was good game to watch, and the series has been pretty close for the most part. Matt
  2. Watch your backside, take care, and thanks for all your efforts. God Speed, Hookem Matt
  3. A person can learn to control breathing thru lots of different teachings, yoga and such, or prescription medicines. To say you don't trust a polygraph is the same as not trusting the monitors you see in an ICU at a hospital, or other areas, same equipment, just looks different. They are nothing more than vital signs monitors. They can not be used in a court of law because they can be beat. To say the equipment is inaccurate is wrong. They record exactly what your body is doing. Not to say that one can't be off, but that is why I do periodic checks, or to calibrate them on a normal routine. What requirements for calibration is set forth from the state for such devices(polygragphs)? Don't know. I did beat a speeding ticket in court for asking about calibration logs for a speed gun used by the Texas State Troopers. None could be produced to prove to me that its accurate and my cruise control is off by 7 mph. The use of a polygraph is used to keep the honest guys honest and scare the dishonest ones. Do you think you can find 200 extra guys to ride in a boat to watch each team? Do you think running a paper tourney will stop cheaters? If they stake fish out to take to the scale, whats gonna stop them from the same practices on a paper tourney? Don't blame the device, only the operator for interpreting the results, after all, the device doen't call anyone dishonest, the operator does that. That same device has probably help save a loved one at some time in your life, and its the doctor or nurse reading the info making the call. You might ask a polygrapher when was the device calibrated for accuracy. A device that could ruin ones name should have standards set forth. Periodic testing should be maintained. I have a individual file for every piece of medical equipment I maintain. If I change a battery, lamp, or do a corrective repair, it gets docuemented and goes into the file on every device. I have a simulator that is calibrated off site by a company that has no affilation to the hospital, this is my checks and balance to ensure my test equipment is accurate so I can maintain hospital equipment accurately. My worries with taking a polygraph is what training or how long has the operator been doing polygraphs. Remember that if your heart rate jumped from 65 beats on being asked your name and then 85 beats on being asked if you caught all fish during tourney hours, its not the equipment saying anything, its the human operator making an "hopefully educated analysis". Matt
  4. Tournament ethics, ???????? This last April, I was fishing a 3 day event on Sam Rayburn, after tourney hours, I offered a guy 20.00 for a bass. It wasn't for the tourney. One hour later, it was filleted at the boat ramp, a nice 7 lber laying at the ramp in the water. Maybe his ethics were different than what you percieved. Matt
  5. Thats a question we normally ask YOU, Whats next Russ? Matt
  6. Rain in late Spring in Texas is a rareity in late May. Normally by this time, we would have had a few triple digit days. None thus far in my area. On the positive side, its mainly been rain and not severe, so I have managed to get on the water every day lately and the fishing has been great in the DFW area. Matt
  7. Pros on both sides of the fence have different rules, ie.......FLW pros don't have a very strict off limit period as the BASS does! Pressure doesn't play into the equation for all pros either, ie...... Byron Velvick doesn't have to do well on the water to make a living, so pressure is only part of the equation for some. AN angler who excels with versatility does well on the tour. Denny Brauer is one of the best jig fishermen ever, but half the lakes on the newer extended tours, he doestn't display enough versatility to be an angler of the year. He's a great pro, but the lakes that are scheduled today look at well rounded strengths. Look at AOY's from the early years. Versatility was limited, alot of techniques used today was not introduced yet. Todays guys have learned alittle of everything. 20 years ago, you didn't have the western lakes, the western light line tactics. Most of the tours were on southern lakes, with mostly southern pros in their back yards. My thoughts are, Versatile fishermen of today are better apt to "MAKE ADJUSTMENTS ON THE WATER", that applies to "some" of the casual anglers as well as pros. Hookem Matt
  8. If that was your first video, you did a great job, thanks for sharing your day!!!! Hookem Matt.
  9. I don't see how winning the most NBA titles ever is bad luck. Wish my Mavericks could win just one. I don't see how you can penalize a team for playing rookies when playoffs are out of the picture for your team. I don't think you can fairly judge teams for tanking games when rookies finally get time on the floor. I think the lotto should apply to the bottom teams only, not a dozen, maybe the worst four teams, and the rest fall in line in order of record. Greg Oden will be around for years if he stays healthy and out of trouble, Portland will be force in the west for a long time. Matt
  10. I think clarity and color depend on natural lighting in the day. Overcast days versus blue-bird bright days does make a difference in blade choice on spinners. If a bass can't see 1ft due to muddy conditions, then color would not be my first thought, vibrations and noise would be first consideration. Also if color/contrast are not important, why is a tight wobble in the winter produce better than the large billed big wobblers? Water is usually clearest of all during winter months when the water is denser. Hookem Matt
  11. Mother Nature has away of restoring the Soul, and the pursuit of bass is icing on the Cake. Hookem Matt
  12. What do you want, a Brownie medal. Compare how much money they have won to conventional baits. No comparison. And most guys used multiple patterns, not 100% of those fish were all swimbaits. Matt
  13. There are many types of jigs. A bitsy jig can be fished with a spinning rod just as a lot of Shakey Lead Head jigs are. If your fishing heavy grass mats, then the right tool for the job would make it alot easier to land the fish. Heavy grass mats require grass rakes to haul a big bass out of the grass. What is the action of your rod? Matt
  14. bassmatt, Try this link. If it doesn't give you all the answers, post some more questions and someone will be along to help further. http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/worm_rigs.html Matt
  15. Weightless or splitshotting maybe the answer. Matt
  16. Funny, I just assumed that a crank that hunts was a good thing. Like the old saying, "that dog will hunt", I assumed a crank that hunts is one that catches fish, regauardless of the action. Hookem Matt
  17. Thanks for the info, you learn something new every day around here. Matt
  18. Welcome to the forum bassmatt!!!!!!! I am from Texas. I have never heard of that river. Can you give us some info on it? How did it get its name? Sounds like some sort of Indian name. Hookem Matt
  19. This time of the year, I like the Strike King Quad shad with four willow blades. Seems to work great with shad spawning. I just purchased my first Booyah spinner baits this weekend, this model has three willow leafs. A little cheaper than the 9.00 Quad Shad. For the river, I'm fond of the old H&H's. Matt
  20. Number one, they catch fish, they are made of quality, ie....the split rings and hooks don't need replacing as some of the other cheap baits. They run true out of the box. I guarantee that if I buy 5 Mann's -1's, one or two will not run true out of the box. Remember, these baits basically were designed because of the ultra clear water that most japanesse lakes have and the enormous amount of preasure that they receive. These baits were created to look real. They are pretty baits. The only complaint I hear is the price. Matt
  21. Just back out to the nearest breakline (depth change), ditch, creek channel that is near. They won't be far away from the bedding areas. Matt
  22. Some times its a combination, boat position is key also, just as your approach. Did you catch that bass by casting into the wind? Was that fish positioned by the wind, was it the current, was it in the shade, maybe sunning. What type of vegitation was it holding by? Does the vegitation have wood mixed in, or soley grass. Was that bass holding on the edge of where two types of vegitation meets, like pepper grass and hydrilla? Are you getting hit around wood only? are bass holding next to pipe docks, wooden docks. Put all the pieces of the puzzle together to unlock patterns. Matt
  23. Randall, So you remove the back hook on all cranks? Can you eloborate on the theory of why or how you feel this helps land more big fish? I see the pictures you post, Grasshopper ready for lesson. Matt.
  24. Kudos to Matt and to the team of Doghouse and Randall. May I ask how you are presenting the Bluegill? What action or speed are you imparting to the bait. Matt
  25. Sweet fish, sweet release. Matt
