For the most part, isn't one taught to cast to the shaded side first before probing the side that the sun is cast upon in warmer months. Take a dock for example, early morning, a bass may be feeding in front or behind that dock. As the sun rises, it adds more light into the water and that bass will retreat to the edge of the boat dock, and as the sun gets higher, it positions it self further under neath the boat house. Light penatration plays an important part in positioning of fish.

Don't know the make up of your lake, creeks and such that run into the lake. This is the time of the year that bass start feeding up for the winter. The bass are trying to gain some weight for the winter, or adding a layer of fat for the winter. The primary bait source in Texas are shad. Shad will cruise to the back of creeks in the fall due to temp changes, and or, if those temp changes don't happen like in years past, the bass still know fall is coming due to the amount of light during the daytimes is getting shorter. Either way, the bass know to move and chase bait. Find where the bait goes and you'll find bass close behind them.

Wind creates a current, it positions zoo planktons (micro-organism) which are what shad and other bait fish eat. Wind can break the mirror image or glassed effect that cause fish on fairly clear lakes to go deep into cover on days like this, wind breaks up the surface and allows fish to move to the edges or open waters.

I think SF wins the west easily, Saints win the south with possible wildcard team Atlanta, GB wins the north with possible Minnesota as wild card and Dallas 10-6 wins the east with possible wild card as well. My first experience with commorants came in Cali. You guys think the bass line up for the trucks, try 100's of commorants eating dumb trout. Between the fishermen and commorants, the rainbows don't last long. Do some research on how much a commorant consumes in a day, multiple that time the number of birds, yes, trout get eat by the bass, they are easy dumb prey, but its not as big an issue as its made out to be. You could stock trout everyday in Texas and you will not grow those bass. We don't have the growing season that Cali has, pure and simple. Cali bass can grow 365 days a year, the bass don't have to endure 40 degree water temps for a few months of the year or 90 degree water temps. The Socal area is blessed with the ideal climate pure and simple. How many 20 lbers have come from northern Cali, were the growing season isn't as nice and trout is plentiful? Many a San Diego articles was written in the mid 80's about the commorants and how the fishermen was getting left out standing on the bank, the study showed the commorants can wipe a trout load out in hours.

From the late 70's to 1994, I don't remember a trout stamp at all, it was just pay an extra 5.oo at the lake gait if they were stocked, no matter if ya was fishing for something else.

I guess thats why I won't fish the "good ole boys" tournaments that aren't run better than this. I expect the normal checks to be done. How hard is it for the Director to be at the launch ramp and take money as guys launch boats and do livewell checks? Would have prevented this guy from cheating on the spot. Just asking for a license when accepting his entry fee for the first time would have prevented fellow fishermen from being cheated.

I'd like to know what kinda of guys run these Florida tournaments. I'd also like to jerk a knot on the TD's head for not ever checking for valid fishing license. At the first of the season, we have to show valid TX license. If you won money, you'll be asked to show you had it in your possesion. How does a guy get past livewell checks prior to the start of the tournament? how does he get the fish out of his truck to put in his boat using the same ramp at the weigh in? I'm sorry, directors that lax need a knot jerked on their heads.

Not true SAM. Every eventual BCS champ was ranked in the AP poll to start the season. The lowest ranked team to ever win the BCS title was OU in the 2000 season and they started the AP poll at #20 that year. No team has ever won the BCS title that was NOT in the top 20 to start the season.

Take Texas and Okalahoma off the poll, no team in past decade, bcs era has won the title with a freshmen or sophmore starting at QB. Also, no team from a non BCS conf has ever played for the title. So scratch TCU and Boise off the list also. I'll have it narrowed down when the AP polls come out on the 21st.

If anything, last year should have prepared most of you guys for this type of finish to the AOY race. Ike came from 11th in points last year to almost win it with 2 post season tournaments. Skeet had the lead with 249, KVD was 233, and Ike was in 3rd with 225. Post season brings pressure, Skeet had a great regular season, so did the Patriots at 16-0. How did the post season work out for the Patriots? I'm sure AOY will get some minor tweeking under new ownership. I've only see 10 different AOY formats over the years, its not like ESPN is the only ones to ever change AOY formats.
