BYU vs. Washington controversy
Wonder what crew officiated this game?

Brady Down...
They have the easiest schedule in the league. Their opponents have a winning percentage from last year of .387 Pats have over come many things. Just another speed bump. Hope Brady isn't seriously hurt.

Hookemdown, I would love to see cindarella at the ball. Love the underdog. ECU would be okay with me as well.

BYU vs. Washington controversy
Only saw brief "highlight". It appeared that he threw the ball back behind him, like over behind his shoulder. Caught brief view on halftime highlights in Texas game. There have been 2 of these penalties this season that I have seen called. They are judgement calls at best. I'll place blame on the coaching staff. Its up to the coaches to cover all possibilities in a game. Six points does not equal 7 without the PAT. 15 yard penalty is big deal in close game. If I was a coach, those examples would be shown and coached upon. Worst officiated game I have ever saw in college football was OU vs Oregon State. Pac 10 officials blew that one on the field and in the booth on the replay.

NCAA FB National Champion Predictions
FOM, Stoops has failed to win the big ones since his brother left his staff. On a positive note, Michigan got whipped by a JV team last year opening day and still beat Florida in a Bowl game. So just cause the Aggies lost to Ark. St., don't mean the season is a bust. Ark. St. has played some tough teams the past two seasons and gave them a run for their money.. They played Texas last year 13-21 I believe and gave Tennessee a battle 41-27.. Hookem Matt

Richland Chambers?
Hope to meet you there. Are you fishing the Championship on Sam Rayburn as well in OCT.? I think you might have read the name Smith, Steve, won two boats last year on the indivdual and team trail. My gilrfriend and his wife, who used to be pretty salty herself, was setting together at last tourney weigh in. His wife said he C-rigs and cranks on RC any time of the year. Had over 28 lbs and won early in the season. Deep water is his forte. April was our first tourney their and first trip, weather kept us off both weekends before. We had 12 and change with weightless senkos, 2nd tourney there, Finesse worms caught 20+ fish but not much size. Good luck Matt

NCAA FB National Champion Predictions
I would love to see OSU/OU/USC play @ Auburn @ Florida @ South Carolina Georgia Alabama @ Arkansas Ya think they would only have 1 loss? Since 2002, USC has dominated Auburn twice and Arkansas twice. Don't forget Cal and UCLA have wins over TENN as well. Didn't Michigan beat the Heisman winner and Florida last year as well? SEC put their pants on like everyone else, and stats shows the SEC has taken their lumps like everyone else when it came to pac 10. SEC non conference foes since 2002 37-36 and that leaving the cellar dwellers out of the mix. Stats speak for them selves.

So I've read a lot on crankbaits, but still have one question...
Certain bills are better for deflecting away from cover. Another good tip is to use balsa bait when probing wood. Balsa baits deflect off wood better. Bagley made great balsa baits. Getting harder to find.

College Football - Week 1
Lets talk contenders since 2002. no need to bring Vandy, Miss St, Ole Miss, Kentucky, South Carolina into the picture. Works better if you don't. This way we take the top 7 teams, and gues what. Ya'll put your pants on like the rest of the country. Not showing the normal cream puffs that 99.9% of the time equals a "W". Just non conference games and bowl games in meaningful conferences. Counted Clemson, Boise State. Univ. of Miami, Florida State Say what you want, but as I have said, When they schedule meaningful games outside their conference, they are one game above 500 since 2002. And that 37-36 record don't include Miss. St, Ole Miss, Vandy, Kentucky, South Carolina, which would add some losses to that already impressive dominating record over other foes of 37-36. Adding to this, only 3 of your 7 teams have winning records against outside opponents. Auburn , Lsu, and Georgia who don't go outside the box as much. That leaves Ark, Alabama, Florida, Tenn with loosing records against other foes. Hookem

College Football - Week 1
Yep, 2008, #18 Tennessee falls to another weak Pac 10 college, by the way, 10-6 the last 16 meetings against the weaker Pac 10. Then South Carolina makes it into the polls by beating NC State. 5-7 last year. South Carolina gets there because of their 5 straight losses last year or because of Spurrier and he's got his defense back this year? Which he had most of his defense back last year as well and where did that get him? Or is it, every year SC is so dominate in the SEC? LOL I'll say Alabama is improved at this time, but i did say Clemson wasn't a number 9 team with 4 new starting offensive linemen. And how did the two heisman canidates run behing that line? How many voters does the south have compared to other regions? Theres your bias in the polls. Care to share the number of southern votes? Just because its printed don't make it true.

College Football - Week 1
And as for the weak Pac 10 They are 10-6 against the SEC the last 16 meetings. Thus, my only wish, is for ALL Conferences to play better caliber teams. I'm a fan of college football, I'd rather see BCS teams play BCS teams. Why wouldn't you as a fan of football not want to see power house games every weekend? How long does the fan have to wait to see Florida and Texas play a couple of years, home and home series? Who wouldn't we want to see one of the winningest programs in football, Tenn and Michigan play a couple of times? alabama and OU. Thats college football at its best if you ask me. How about Georgia and USC, Notre Dame and LSU, As a Longhorn fan, I waited approx 40 years to see Texas and Michigan hook up and that was due to BCS obligations. What a great game it was. Blow outs are boring, period.

College Football - Week 1
And the big 12 has what room to talk??? On the Tennessee game though, we got outcoached plain and simple once again. On VolChat some are trying to blame Arian Foster for the one fumble inside the 10 which is ridiculous and should have been just another stat. Why would you continue to throw the ball 40+ times when you are clearly able to run the ball very effectively with 2 backs and your QB is clearly not on target at all. Nevermind the fact they wouldn't move him out of the pocket and he was getting the ball along with 1-3 bruins, and this with a veteran offensive line that gave up 4 sacks all last year. Then you can add on top of this a defensive coordinator who for the past 10 years has been apparentely oblivious to the fact that people can and will throw in the flats and short underneath routes. In all due respect, we big XII fans didn't open the thread of SEC has no Equal. I do agree with why they didn't run the ball more, they appeared to be effective when they did. But, truth be told, blame your veteran kicker or the coach for calling the play that set the ball up on the left hash mark to tie. He clearly had problems kicking with the angle last night. Hookem

College Football - Week 1
This is such an embarassment for the SEC. I truly wanted to see Tennessee succeed in this one. In the past few years, Tenneesse has been the Mississippi State of the SEC East. Truly deplorable. I can't even justify that statement. 9-4 and 10-4 over the last two seasons hardly qualifies as an embarrassment "to any conference" in Div. 1A. Say what you want, if you go back 5-6 years, you'll see clemson in04 or 05, Notre Dame the next two years, then Cal the next two season, and then UCLA. I respect good teams that show case how good they are or can be by playing better non-conference games. Tenn. displays that through scheduling. Hookem

College Football - Week 1
It was a great opening weekend of college football. VT went down and that wasn't an upset in my book after seeing ECU play some last year and their final game against BSU. Neither was the Utah Michigan game. Utah is good. Loved the BGU win over Pitt, the only losing record from last year to be preseason ranked. Carl, Sorry about your Vols last night. Great respect for Tenn playing the likes of Cal two years and opening up against UCLA this year Hookem

NFL re-instates Adam Jones.
Jake, whats your take on Shawn deciding to forego the knee surgey. I think God only gives you one set of knees and you should take care of them. Did 15 years stationed in San Diego with the Navy. Like the Chargers as well.

NFL re-instates Adam Jones.
No worries. The PlayMaker, Mr. Irving took him under his wing. Lol. ;D ;D ;D

NFL re-instates Adam Jones.
Cowboy fans are not patient. I know the maturation of young QB's, and I say young due to playing time, about 3-4 years. Romo has done what very few QB's have ever done in a season and a half. I have always thought you needed to be sharp in December, peaking, going into the playoffs. And Your dead on, the Cowgirls played poorly late season. When has Romo ever played 17 games in one season in his life. I think Romo needs to play into playing shape for a few extra games. Go Cowboys.

Talk is cheap Catt. Football is decided on the field. We want ever know the outcome of those games. They weren't played. Top 5 all time college football rivalries. #1 watched OSU vs Michigan #2 Neb and Oklahoma #3 USC vs Notre Dame #4 Texas vs Texas aTm #5 Alabama vs Auburn Say what you want, but these are from years of ratings, and the people watch these games every year as per the annual ratings. Alabama and Auburn are #5, Some how the top teams keep appearing. USC, Notre Dame, Michigan, OSU, Texas, Nebraska and Oklahoma. Seems to me, the premier programs are the very same in the top 10 wins of all time. and amoung top rivals watched every year. Those are facts that stretch back for decades and decades. Where is Florida, Auburn, Ole Miss, Vandy, Kentucky, South Carolina, Miss. State, LSU and Arkansas on these lists? Where does LSU Florida game rank in rivalries in the public eyes? TV raitings and all time wins seem to say different than opinions..

Instant Replay
Two points of concern, all tape reviewed will be from New York studio. I hope the cell phone isn't busy. The only reviewable calls are foul poles and homeruns that are borderline on the fence. I'd like to see replay for game winning runs scored at the plate as well. They left all the other calls on the umps shoulders. Some umps call tighter zones and that cool. I just think if the technology is there, use it on the close plays to get the game right.

NFL re-instates Adam Jones.
Adam Jones plays this year. By the way, for the second straight season, New England has the easiest schedule again. They're opponents have a combined record of .387. So that undefeated season looks good again this year. By the way, howed that work out for them last year? Can't wait to start the season. Go Cowboys.

The $EC has no equal
In 2003, USC could have just as easily been BCS winner if they were allowed to play. Why was Auburn, undefeated and get passed by? I argued that one for the Tigers as well. Do they get the title game right every year. Last year? Do they not tweak the system every year even after schedules are set for years. All these things change the landscape of college football. The year OU got blown out is the year that I think KSU whipped them in the Big XII title game and USC got slighted. Was that fair for OU to lose the big Xii title and still get the BCS championship game? I love all college football, why wouldn't any fan want to see the best games every Saturday. Who wouldn't want to see Georgia play USC in regular season. You think Vandy playing Michigan like two years ago is the match up we all watched. I bet if it was Florida and Michigan, it would have been huge, but not the Vandy Michigan matchup> Again, as a fan, who wouldn't want the best to play the best during the season. To be the best, play the best, it leaves no doubt!

Moot point Catt. You think just because 4 of your colleges beats up on its own, thats a test. Its only a test when they beat other premier college to show case their strength. You can't control the depth of talent in your conference, but you can challenge other programs. To say USC and OSU play outside their conference is why USC was selected as best college team ever, along with two Heismans in the same back field that year. Same guys getting paid then for saying that are the same ones saying SEC is best conference in football. AGain, howed that work out for USC that year. University of Texas Longhorns, 2005 NCAA Football Champions!!!!lol Games are decided on the field by scoreboard, not analysts. AGain, the WEST., Arkansas, Miss State, Ole Miss, Auburn, LSU, and Alabama. Your west winner two years ago was thrashed by USC 70-10. Other than Auburn and LSU, who in the west has been BCS contender? LSU beats the same boys over and over. In the East. Vandy, Kentucky, South Carolina, have been BCS bound when? That leaves Florida, Tenn, and Gerogia. Wasn't Georgia's last hurah in 82 with Hershal Walker? And which one of those schools gets the softer confernce schedule looks great in standings, but who did they beat to show case the strength of the conference? Just like all other conferences, some talent comes along to make the other teams look good, but they aren't title contenders. Eli Manning did what at OLE Miss, BCS? Yep, Jay Cutlter put Vandy on the map. South Carolina and Holts and Spurrier have done what? Kentucky?? Same can be said for the ARizona, UCLA, Oregons, Purdues, K states, Tech, Okla STates and so on. Every once in awhile, schools get talent and compete, but BCS contenders year after year. Those are the facts, like its been said, college football goes in cycles. Every year, the debate of a BCS playoff system is brought up. MY standard response is to put more emphasis on strength of schedule and play more meaning ful games. I haven't changed on my postition at all.

The $EC has no equal
This wasn't about big XII or a personal attack on you Burley. Its about the SEC has no equal. But since you went there, my tiny little 12 has 3 of the top winningest programs in college football history. SEC, they have Tenn and Alabama and there not top 5. The others being Michigan, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Texas, Penn State, Oklahoma, USC, Ohio state. Thats some good company and great series between them. Where does the SEC rivalries play into these power houses series. They didn't!!! I remember Thanksgiving many moons ago, Neb vs OU. Don't remember Florida and USC or Georgia and Notre Dame or LSU and Penn State. Facts say you have some good teams, like every body else does. Facts will show that when the SEC wasn't making news in the south, it was the University of Miami and Florida State, when those programs slipped in the southern belt, SEC football took the stage. All the press was with those two programs and look at the Title games those two represented in that era. By the way, the same analysts who say the SEC is the greatest, are the very same people to announce USC as the greatest college team ever before Texas beat them in the BCS championship series. LOL and they pay them for that stuff.

The $EC has no equal
You can say what you want, but when has Miss. Miss. State, Vandy, Kentucky, South Carolina even under Lou Holtz didn't do that great, Alabama, and Arkansas say they have been legit top ten teams year after yea?. top 25??? Long time!!!! The SEC is great when they play in their back yards. Just how many of those teams have had schedules like USC, Notre Dame and others every season? Playing teams that can end your title hunt within the first two games. Notre Dame has played USC, Michigan, Penn State and others for years, USC beat Ark. 70-10 two years ago when Ark won the west conf. of the SEC. Cal travelled to Tenn 2 years ago and got trashed, Tenn travelled last year and got trashed in Cal. You know that weak Pac 10 who at least travels to play Big 10, Big XII, and SEC teams. 4-5 good teams every year that feast amoung themselves. Florida and LSU play div II colleges, whats that about, wins? How would you like to be Florida, and have to face Miss, Miss. State, and Arkansas for your West scheduled games? Every few years, the schedules align to be great seasons, then the other years they feast on themselves. Big XII is no different. How Georgia is number 0ne beats me. Do love that winning Texas QB they have pulling the trigger. Lost to South Carolina at home who lost last 5 games. Lost to Tenn on the road. Tenn got thrashed by Pac 10 team. Almost lost to Troy at home. Best two conference wins, 6-2 was Florida and Auburn, and Florida lost 4 games. They beat Vandy, Kentucky, Ole Miss, and Albama who was 4-4 in conference. Florida has Tim back, they'd be number one before Georgia got my vote, but thats just me.
