Hows the fishing at toledo bend???
Catt, Fished for 3 days, I couldn't tell ya if the lake was fishing like a lake like it has for many years past or as a river. Past years, Fork and Twakoni was low and had no water to release, but the last 18 months, Twak and Fork have been full and lots of water has been making to T Bend. They have been cycling those gates off and on. Noticed they'll drop it about 4 ft and shut the gates. I hit my ridge, had grass on the 16ft range and off course the drop off of 50 ft. Had the 2-3 lb bass dialed in, but the bigger ones didn't show up. Was told that the bass had just moved into the grass at six mile about a week ago and that jig bite was starting to progress. Big worms produced first light and mid day. Slow in between. Chris and I caught about 20 on that ridge. WE would of had about 12-13 lbs each day in that one spot. No one else around us caught them like we did, and I saw all kinds of presentations. Couldn't of ask for better weather, I mean we didn't get blowed off the lake, so the rest was minor details. Matt

Going to Texas in August....Would like some Info
Grapevine can be tough on newbies. Lots of sank brush piles since the lake is older and natural cover has rotted. When the lake is low and should be at that time of the year, you will have lots of bank fishing available. Will send PM. Hookem

Red light photo enforcement program
As Burley mentioned. The cameras come with a nice price tag. So instead of voting for the funding on up coming budget issues, Civilian compaines are doing the installation and providing the equipment free. In return, they will mail the ticket and collect all fees and the city gets a small cut. What a better revenue system, a company who pays for the camera, the installation and posting of all signs stating a "photo enforced intersecton, the billing and collection of fines, and the city just sits back and collects their share. In short, local government will either raise your taxes or find other avenues like redlight cameras to help support the growing city government budgets.

Camping
Love the tent in the spring and fall. In Texas during the summer, its almost too hot to climb in a tent at 10pm in the summer.

Sunken Brush Piles
Bass seek newly flooded timber and shoreline grass immediately when flooding occurs. Why would a green brush pile make any difference? "If" you placed them in good areas, you can catch bass off of them the next day.

Scientific approach to bass fishing
I would say, the less experience you have, the more science you try to use. Specially to those trying to take bassing to another level, and that don't have to mean going pro. Wind, temp, barometer, seasonal pattern, and observing on the water whats happening are all forms of science, just as understanding the food chain for bait fish. To the experienced guy, that science is like tieing your shoe!!! You just do it with out thinking of the knot. It becomes common sense to guys with time on the water.

If you could fish with any 2 anglers..Who? And Where?
My dad got the bug burning for bassin when I was six, thats over 40 years ago. I'd love to have my Dad around for another trip. The second person would be my mother, the other huntrer/fishermen in the family who could hang with anyone. My mom made at least 2 trips to Mexico a year in the 70's for bass. She was die hard as well. I was blessed to have come from parents who enjoyed the passion.

Fish Kill - Where are the pics...
You posted it was from good source that is was Co anglers who killed majority of their catch. Trip Weldon said as reported by the SA paper, That 68 co anglers fish died, which leaves 90 for the pros. How is any one to believe anything as my whole point has been. He said, she said. Who do we believe. If anything, I kept saying wait and see. There are two sides to every story is my point. You said, Not me, that you have reliable sources. I have said we learned a lesson from Falcon, lets educate the rest of the anglers. Answer me this. You said the problem was worse, cause fish never floated they sank . Then you have pictures from friends and media. Media ask you not to show them, but what about your reliable friends who had pictures as well before the trip, they weren't media? Then, without fizzing, those fish wouldn't have sank in the first place, bladders keep fish from diving for long periods, of course you knew that. But BASS wasn't fizzing and they have inadequate equipment to handle that kind of weight. And we learned that one the hard way. Which I pointed out, when has any BASS record ever been shattered like that. Clear lake didn't come close to those weights. Again, based on someone saying BASS was warned, well, if history shows itself, the same warning was said for Clear Lake, Amstad as well. It didn't happen until Falcon. So what is it? They sank or the birds ate them all? Was there a fish kill with the FLW in Wisc? Yes, not looking at what died or how. The fact was, it was plastered in the news, newspapers, magazines, and airways. Thats the only point to be made there by me. it was news!!!!!! Don't give hoot about what the reports said, it was news, thats the point. By the way, no disrespect to your friends. But what do you call some ones little blog full of fishing reports? I'm not gonna run around and scream the sky is falling when their are way too many stories out there that are miles apart. There are two sides to the story. You said it was Co anglers, Trip said it was 68, thus 90 were pros. I gotta believe that the penalties were real and Trip is telling the truth as for what crossed the stage alive at that time. Those fish are recorded and penalties accessed. How reliable is your source? You are quick to point out things are inadequate and who killed the majority of the fish.

Hydrilla on Lake Conroe
Look at who owns most of the property around Lake Conroe. Some are retired, and some are weekenders, but most have recreational boats, not all, but alot do. They have money and pay property taxes and would like to be able to use the lake. What kind of fun is it for owners who have hydrilla mats that prevent them from fishing off their docks, or swimming from their docks. Makes it a pain in the butt to get their boats in and out of their boat houses/stalls. Conroe would be one of the best lakes in Texas if they would leave the grass alone. In Conroe's short time long ago before the grass carp was turned loose, she was kicking out some 15 pounders and then the grass got ate and the bass went down hill. From tournament results from this year alone are showing it takes some 25+ pounds to have a chance to win. Some great sacks have came out of there this season. Big fish as well. Rayburn doesn't have alot of property owners, its mainly national forest park land. Toledo Bend is primarily good ole folks that fish for supper and sport. You'll have some areas that are good for recreational activities, but timber filled lakes have a way of keeping them located in certain areas.

Uncomfortable lunch encounter today.
I guess I always give some people the benefit of the doubt first. I wasn't there and would assume as you went into the bathroom, if it was a affair that you witnessed, he would have told her he knew you. But can you say for sure that their was affection between the two? Maybe she was old family friend who lost a loved one, husband, and he was just being "there" for her.

clear water ?
I haven't seen clear water in along time. Been fishing stained, very stained water at best this year. No complaints, that means mother nature gave us much need rains leading into summer. I need a refresher course on clear water baits as well. I down size my line to begin with. I like translucent baits that are small, sometimes rigged with tiny splitshots.

Fish Kill - Where are the pics...
Unless those pictures are shot like crime scene pictures, ie......... a number is set next to each fish, you want be able to tell if it was 158 or like some have said 4000-6000 lbs of dead fish. I love Chad Potts and his trail, this is not an attack against BC, its to compare some statements. BASS was critized for release spot, but BC had to have guys in the water as well, shallow enough for them to gather fish on the bottom. No critizing of BC for their release spot. They have always done great on their own. It was said most of the fish sank at the BASS event, then how will a few pictures tell an unseen story or the truth. It was said that the majority never floated, they sank. Since over half of Bass Champs field was asked to release in deep water, how do you really know how many bass sank out there? Honest question, it was said deep hooked fish may needed to be fizzed first, then how do you get survival rates from fish that never hit a scale that could have sank to the bottom and never floated frpm BCs? ABout the sinking of bass, I can tell you that fish caught from the deep can't swim down due to the swim bladders, so sinking is not the norm on fish coming from the deep and having bladder issues. Trip Weldon said 65 out of the 168 were Co boater dead fish which is contrary to another statement of it was Co boater who killed their catch cause pros are pros. Who would know that, people present or a source that told someone? Too much blog being written and believed and even when pictures comes out to give exact numbers. Even the tackle store is just blog. Why has it taken so long for anything publically to show up? Notice when we said only one paper covered it, then some one said read some blog. What happened when the FLW had fish kill after tourney in Wisc? It made all kinds of press, not just bloggers. Senile is correct. Livewells space on lakes like Falcon are at a premium. We have a great example to help us in the future to learn from. If its such a big story, then why hasn't Zapata told it? You better believe the Wisconsin hometowners told the press of how the FLW left tons of floating fish to be found. Either they sank, or the birds ate them.

Hats off to Chrysler.............
Chrysler was one of the first to give longer warranity. 7/70, no american owned car manufacturers came close to that at the time. With the price of oil at all time highs, the Auto industry is gonna need lots of programs with incentives. Lots of people are either selling the gas guzzleors or getting economy cars as well. Jobs will never be the same in the Auto industry since automating has taken lots of jobs over the years.

Anyone from here fish the Falcon Grand Chalenge?
I like those kind of wild card tournaments. Adds some fun for the not so serious tourney guys. mskes them want to come out and play. I was at one not long ago that was 5 fish stringer, but they paid 1000 for largest striper and walleye , 25th paid 250.00, but first out of the money which would be 26th paid 1000. and so on.

Anyone from here fish the Falcon Grand Chalenge?
Where and what is the Falcon Challenge? Congrats on the top fomish. That many boats and teams makes for some serious pressure on some lakes. Nice going. Matt

If BASS hasn't already released a statement, do you think maybe next year they will? Any body see where Zapata Texas Residents ripped BASS publicly? Me neither! This story was so big, I think one newspaper reported on It.

Les Miles dismisses Quarterback Ryan Perrilloux
He signed a letter of intent with Texas then back out and went to LSU. Could you imagine all the off field trouble UT has had in the last few years, then add Ryan to the mix. I hear Sam Houston State takes troubled QB's. Just ask sooner fans.
