  1. perch!
  2. ten inch powerworm!!!!
  3. i like a thin wire hook on my shakey heads and just make sure they are razor sharp. i normally dont have much of a problem hooking the fish with them with the technique you described. ill take up the slack and when i start feeling weight ill lift up and reel at the same time
  4. theres no pumpkinseed!!!!
  5. i like to use a shakey head as the weight on my drop shot rigs

these are great tips from a smallmouth king! take his words as the gospel. best thing you can do is pick something that you have some confidence in be it color or shape or size, and then go out and throw it. that is the best way to learn what to do, and to see how the bait works and fish react. i struggle with spinnerbait fishing and ill sometimes make trips with just my spinnerbait box in order to work on technique. and don't get frustrated if youre not catching them either, its only fishing!!
  7. yeah bluegill for sure. pick up some gill colored spinnerbaits and get to chuckin!

look into suspending rogue's too. they have a nice action and if you tie a feather on the back hook its even better. i like x raps too, there are a bunch of color choices that makes covering all the forage bases easy. those suspending types are good this time of year (well in my neck of the woods at elast, water temp around 48). when tehy get a little bit more feisty, floating jerks work well too. the bps jerkbaits are nice and should be checked out for a decent cheap alternative
  9. even at 7 dollars for 4 hooks, i cant justify it. the way fuel costs are and the distance from my local walmart (that doesnt have them anyways, you guys have nice walmarts i guess!) id be lookin at about 10 bucks a pack. or i could get a 20 pack of lazer sharps for about the same price. i end up losing them before they get too dull or rusted to use anyways.

summed it up perfect. no need to change hooks, they should be plenty sharp.
  11. true, but how many people (me) just did it for free hooks. of the around 600 people the have viewed this thread, im sure about 80 percent of them signed up for at least one, and probably both things. assuming that they are giving away just 3 packs to about 400 people, 6 bucks for 3 hooks, thats 2400 dollars. now if everyone signed up for both, they could be getting potentially 6 hooks and various other products probably costing the company around 6 grand, just from traffic from this website alone. its a decent marketing stategy yes. but i was saying they realized "oh crap" when they noticed how many people were signing up and how much money they lost so quickly. the odds of people buying more trokars is the risk they take when they give the stuff away. youre right with your assumption, but personally, at 8-9 bucks for a 4 pack of hooks, they can keep em.
  12. looks like it could be rthe ticket to some finicky bedding bass1
  13. got a feeling the deals are gunna get pulled after being posted on a site like this. i bet they are realizing they are getting a bit more traffic right now. i tried anyways, but i'm not expecting to get much, if anything, or in short order. worth a shot though!
  14. wait until you feel the weight of the fish pulling on your line, then lay into it. dont just wait a few seconds cause sometimes they smack it and miss. if that happens just keep working in normal cadence.
  15. aaron martens, kvd, casey ashley. welll maybe palaniuk, oh yeah probably swindle too. cant forget about ike either. chris lane would be a good one too. ah heck, this isnt an easy choice!
  16. love to use gulp products! ive used the straight berkley product (exact same lure without the scent) and couldnt catch them. put on a gulp and couldnt keep em off my line. thats trout fishing though.
  17. rubber worm= use all the time. cant remember the last time i left the dock without having some variation of a rubber worm tied on. normally a t-rigged 7 inch powerwom. its a great lure that works for many applications
  18. Highschool is not a joke, thats bad advice. It is the building block to your professional career (whatever you may choose). Proving yourself in highschool can get you scholarships and better luck with admissions for the college of your choice. Your bank account (or your parents) will be very grateful. I didn't take highschool serious until about junior year, and then I made dean's list every semester after. I am now attending a private college and barely having to pay for it because I got good grades in highschool (as well as community college, another cheap alternative). I know fishing is important to you, as it is to everyone on this forum, but sometimes you need to prioritize to better yourself in the long run of things. Now when it comes to getting a job in the future, highschool has everything to do with getting you a job. Without highschool, you would not be able to get into college, and with the job market these days, without a college degree, you aren't getting a job. It's that simple. You may be able to get a job, but it is not gonig to be what you want, or on your terms. I'm not sure about getting a job in the fishing field, (I'm a realist) but definitely look into marketing if that's what you prefer. You may find down the road you don't care for it. Apply yourself to everything you do though, it will pay off immensely in the future. It sucks, but let your education take precedence over your fishing career for now. If you do that, you will have more time to fish in the future instead of having to work 60 hour weeks at minumum wage to pay bills because you didn't go to college and couldn't land a job. Take my advice or not, but I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors!
  19. could use a few more spinnerbaits and maybe some creatures! besides that, i'm pretty well stocked. we didnt really have much "down time" here in new jersey this year with how the winter was. I fished open water one week, was on the ice for 3 days the next week, and then back in the boat the following week. i havent even respooled yet! oh yeah, that reminds me..... i need some new mono for my topwater rod!
  20. shhhh about those things! LOL, those dont look like johnson silvers, but they look similar. johnson silvers have been one of my go to smallie baits for years
  21. i like stowaway spinnerbait boxes. you can put 3 different types of baits in them and keep them somehwat organized
  22. i'll tell you what, they sure are pretty lookin. to rich for my blood though.
