Best Time To Buy?
yeah ive got stuff off the site before. i need something with a warranty though. im not brave enough to fix my reels by myself and i have a couple that have just been sitting cause they plain dont work anymore. i figured by the time i sent em to get fixed, paid for shipping and costs of labor, i might as well jsut buy new and have a warranty.

Best Time To Buy?
good idea in theory but by the time i get to a bass pro i woulda spent around 40 bucks on gas. closest one is 2 hours away! also i dont really have any sports shows around. there are a couple, but they definitely dont have good deal like up to 50% off stuff.

Best Time To Buy?
Hello all. I'm in the market for a new BC rod and reel. I'm wondering what the best time to buy would be? Should i wait til Black Friday/Cyber Monday? Or should I wait til early spring when they are clearing out last years model? Im in no rush to buy, just want it before next season. Also i would like to buy new so i can fulfill the warranty if need be. Even buying new off eBay sometimes can create problems with warranties.

Shakey Head Rod Length?
i use a 7 foot medium/fast. it has good enough back bone to smack it to them on long casts. i normally reel up all the slack and let the rod load up and really lean into it. i have been using 6lb yozuri hyrbid with decent success. i use the same rod for drop shot. i normally dont go higher than 1/8 on my shakey head weights.

Line Is Breaking Need Some Imput.
youre going to get this suggestion a good bit from a few people so i'll be the first to put it out there. check out yozuri hybrid 12lb. i have been using 10 lb on my baitcasters but will probably switch to twelve next year for them. i have the 6 lb on my spinning gear and it is really great stuff. the knots are awesome and the break strength to line diameter ratio is pretty good as well.

Can You Tell What A Fish Is Eating By Their Ey Postioning?
different fish have different feeding techniques, which may make eye postitioning different on different species. within the same species though, the eyes are located relatively in the same spot no matter how they are feeding. eye postitioning also has to do with a fishes need to evade predators more successfully. think about our eyes. they are located foward facing. but think also, we can turn our necks and look behind us. have you ever seen a fish with a neck? no....hence why their eyes are postioned on the side of their heads, as opposed to in the front. it gives them a chance to see things coming in from the side better than frontal oreinted eyes would give them. also bass are primarily clsoe encounter predation eaters. they can see prey coming from the side and attack without having to move extremly fast, as opposed to say a musky. a musky is not built for close quarter eating. they are built for straight forward bursts of speed, hence why a musky has eyes that are more forward pointing than a bass. hope this helps.

Is It Still Good Bass Fishing This Time Of Year? If So What Should I Use Now?
from a fellow New Jersian, the bass are still biting. ive been catching them on moving baits. ie: spinnerbaits, lipless cranks, flukes on an underspin jig. also have been catchin them deep after a front (not sure of the weather down in your parts, but we got a storm rollin in tonight, looks like post frontal conditions saturday). You dont have to buy gary yamamoto senkos either. try yum dingers, or bass pro knock off senkos. i have great success with both, and they are a fraction of the price. be persistent. keep at em'. itll happen sooner or later!

Rooster Tail Doesn't Spin Properly
the thin willows on the rooster tails sometimes have a hard time getting going. give it a little twitch right before you start reeling and itll get the blades spinning. FWIW, i have the same problem with panther martins and mepps too. its the same thing with all of them. the smaller blades of inline spinners dont catch as much water as their spinnerbait counter parts, therefore its a little harder to get the blades to spin. a quick twitch of the wrist before you reel gets em goin. also, might i add that a low lb test (4-6) is best suited for it because it is easier to feel the blades thumpin.

Yum Crawbug
not sure i can picture what you are talking about. i normally fish them on a normal tube head (between 1/8th and 1/4). I normally color the claws to match the crayfish by my house

Updated: 4/14 Need Help Buying A Used Bass Boat Off Cl
being a small water fisherman (a lake in my state is probably a pond in yours) i look for a few things in a boat. i have been searching craigslist as well for stuff and have narrowed down my decisions on whats important. ease of launching on a small lake (<40 acres), stability, agility, and strength. I'm not out there trying to go 65+mph across the lake. my choice of motor size would be no greater than 60 probably. also, most of the lakes i fish are either shallow and rocky, or shallow and full of stumps. because of this, fiberglass isnt really an option for me. since im not fishing big lakes, maneuverability is also important. anything over around 17 feet it kind of unwieldy around here. so basically what im saying is take into consideration the waters you plan to fish, and your needs. for me the ideal boat is a 17 foot aluminum mod-v with a 40 horse on the back. for you, it may be very different

Little Fish Or Skunked?
dang you guys that could "do without 3 pounders" must be blessed. a limit of 3 pounders in jersey is almost unheard of

Things Bass Fisherman Say...
not sure if this one has been said but i say it to my buddy after he misses a bunch of bites "hey are you sure you put hooks on that thing?' another one i say often when fishing with people that dont put much time in on the water is that "its not the size of the bait, its the angle of the dangle"

What Action For The Veritas Rod?
the MH is definitely pretty stiff. the tip seems like its slightly leaning towards XF on my fast action as well. I throw c-rigs and 1/2-3/4 ounce jigs with it mostly, hope that helps.

M Or Mh For Flukes?
thanks. its not gunna be a dedicated fluke rod, but will probably have a fluke on it when i want to throw one. im looking for something that will definitly be better than my other options for a fluke, but something that i can hopefully use for throwin light t-rigged worms and the like.
-
M Or Mh For Flukes?
well, im talking about mainly just a single fluke, but was wondering also if a medium could handle a double fluke rig. i fish a fluke on my 6' 3" but feel like im not getting the casting distance and the hooking percentage i want because im not movin enough line on the hookset. i wasnt sure if i should just up the rod size or if should actually up the power to mh. also i normally throw it in sparse weeds where a spinnerbait gets fouled up too much or over shallow rocky points. ill also fling em at some "schooling" fish too if i see them in open water

M Or Mh For Flukes?
Hello all, been searchin for a bit for an answer but havent come to a general consensus. I'm lookin for a fluke/ general setup casting combo and im trying to figure out if i should get another mh or another m. I'm leaning towards medium becuse most of the things i throw are under 1/2 ounce. my mh heavy rod only really comes out when im jig fishin or throwin frogs, and my one m is too whippy and the other is only a 6'3" so im looking for about a 7 footer. can anyone vouch for throwing a double fluke rig on a medium rod? trying to keep it equal to or less than 100 bucks. any help would be great, thanks!

Good Bass Fishing Books
I'm in the middle of In Fisherman's Largemouth Bass book. It is an alright read, its pretty basic, and also pretty dated.

How Far Will You Drive For Good Fishing?
depends on how good the fishing is. id be willing to drive an hour and a half for a 25+ fish day. if not, i got plenty of places where i can catch 10-15 bass in 4-5 hours almost everytime that are within 45 minutes of me

What Do You Consider A Trophy-Sized Fish?
in my neck of the woods a 8 pound larry would be a giant! heard many a tale of them being caught, never actually saw a picture of one or had someone look me in the eyes when they told me the story though haha. I have a pb larry of around 7 lbs. I only have about 1-2 six pounders to my name, and a half a dozen 5 pounders. a larry over 5 here in jersey is definitely a special fish, but i wouldnt consider it a fish of a lifetime in my home waters. now a 6+ pound smallie would be a tank for my area for sure. still hvent broken the 5lb mark on the bronze back. more than a handful of 4+, only a couple over 4 and a half.
-
Lets see your best.
heres the second biggest/ prettiest smallie i caught this year. caught it in january, had to break through a couple inches of ice with a spud bar to get the boat out!
