Help me "make an offer" on an old aluminum V-bottom
Looks like boats of that size WITH a trailer go for around 3 to 4 hundred in my area... It hard finding a trailer only anymore haha. I think something this small I will throw on top of the Jeep until I find a cheap trailer. I found a free 19 ft. bayliner on craigslist. The boat is free but the guy is selling the motor and trailer separate (or trading for a riding mower). I should snag that baby and try and sell it HA. http://altoona.craigslist.org/bar/1816506942.html

Jig vs. Plastic
I've caught fish on Jigs when I couldn't catch fish t-rigged with the exact same plastic. Sometimes they just want that faster/slower fall and that bigger profile the jig can offer. I've notice if I don't get a hit on t-rigged plastics, they will hit the jig on the fall. If the jig makes it to the bottom without a bite, it's not getting bit. Other days, it's all t-rig, all day long. You may be getting bites on a jig and not even realizing it. I bet 90% of my jig bites were detected because I knew how long it should have fell and it stopped falling early (the fish took it). Half the time I don't even feel the jig get hit, the line just does something odd. Other times it feels like the jig hit a hard sponge (its hard to explain), and then rarely, the drag starts screaming and you swing for the fences.

Help me "make an offer" on an old aluminum V-bottom
I bet this thing is from the 70's I just want something to mess around with. I always wanted to mod my own boat and this seems like the perfect boat to start with. Thanks for the info guys!

Career in Bass Fishing Industry
Another thing you need to look out for it what companies are owned by who. You may try getting a job at a company that owns a fishing company, then migrating into the fishing end of things. For example, if you wanted to get in with Berkley, they are actually owned by Jarden, which owns a TON of different companies.

Help me "make an offer" on an old aluminum V-bottom
A buddy of mine's dad has an old V bottom aluminum boat. I wanted to buy one to 'restore' and just have fun making modifications. It's in decent shape, just dirty with a few scratches. He think's its 12 ft (but he going to measure it for me tonight). He told me to make him an offer but I honestly have no idea where to start. There's no motors or trailer included so it's just an old aluminum V-bottom. Any ideas on what I should offer? I can get a pic of it and post it tomorrow, but I was thinking like $200? Is that too low/high?

Who's up for a PA meet up? Raystown James Creek Launch Sept. 25th 8am meet
If you vote for multiple dates, it counts as votes. For example, I voted for all the Sundays in Oct. so it said there was 4 votes. I bet most of us voted for more than 1 date.

LOL This is a tense race! I hope 10/3 wins so DVT can make it! paangler - I hope we can nail a tiger! They get BIG in Raystown (everything is big in there, I've caught bluegills that looked like dinner plates). There's also some man eating cats.... Ok maybe not man eating, but they are weird lookin'!

When does color matter the most and least??
Different species tend to like certain colors more. For example, fish in the Pike family seem to like white and charteruse more so than other species. For bass, I can honestly say I use dark greens, browns, blues and blacks. I have never caught a bass on anything white or really brightly colored. BUT I also never fish any lakes that are clear and I think that is the reason light colors dont work for me.

Rage Tail Craw
If I had to wait that long to fish, someone would be getting hurt! I can't think of a day that a rage craw didn't produce at least 1 fish for me... well, maybe before I started using them I find myself throwing them on weighted hooks a little more now that the bite is tough. I like the way they sit on the bottom on the weighted hook vs. the T-rig.

You've got 50 bucks, what are you buying?
Rage Tail Products: Space Monkey Chunk Thumper Craw Shad Jigs - Here I don't have a preference, but I normally get Tru-Tungsten, BPS or Strike King jigs. Any color as long as it's blue and black I like to stock up on slip weights also, I go through a ton.

Who's up for a PA meet up? Raystown James Creek Launch Sept. 25th 8am meet
Cool, I think we will let this run until Wed. and we will be set! We need to pick a launch point though HAHA. There's 4 that I know of that have good fishing and are usually light on traffic. Here is info on all the launch areas: http://raystown.nab.usace.army.mil/Activities/boating.htm I'd say Snyder's Run, Aitch, James Creek or Shy Beaver would be ok for us to use. They all offer some good fishing spots and usually don't get nailed by the boaters. Guess we will have to have 1 more poll after this one EDIT: Don't forget to buy your launch passes (they are $3.00) http://raystown.nab.usace.army.mil/passes.htm EDIT Again: You can get these at the launches too so forget that last part.

Who's up for a PA meet up? Raystown James Creek Launch Sept. 25th 8am meet
AH, I forgot about Archery... Looks like either one of the days in Sept. is going to win, or Sunday the 3rd. I'd rather go on a Sunday too, but I just want to fish and don't care what day it is! HA Edit: Took the Saturdays in Oct. out (I was the only one who voted for them anyway haha).

What ever happened to Friday night fishing?
I love watching Bill Dance, Rolan Martin and City Limits Fishing. I have them all set to record on the DVR because I always miss them otherwise. On Outdoor Channel I like Classic Patterns, Strike King Pro Journal and sometimes Legends of Rod and Reel. BUT, WFN is usually on 24/7 BIG BASS MONDAY! Then Lunkerville on Wed. Can't beat it!

Softening soft plastics question
If they arent salted (or you dont care about the salt) you can boil them for 15 to 20 seconds. I do this to straighten bent stick baits or swimbaits.

The Show "Lost Lake" a Fraud?
It sucks, but it probably happens a lot more than we realize. That's TV! It's probably hard to get them out on a lake they have "never" been too. What are they going to do, give them a list of lakes and say, pick some you've never been too. If they put me in that situation, you bet I'd be researching some of those lakes I saw on the list... I like how Facts of Fishing will show how real it is fishing. I remember watching a walleye episode where Dave only caught 1 tiny walleye (almost a fingerling haha). I really don't care if people aren't catching fish, if theres enough technique info in the show, I'll watch

Career in Bass Fishing Industry
Just handle it like you would any other industry. Keep plugging the resumes until someone bites. If you can, I would get your resume looked at by a professional. I was lucky enough to find a free seminar about resumes and it turned mine into gold. I would also suggest using networking tools like facebook or even better - LinkedIn. LinkedIn is more business oriented and a lot more professional. I have had a few job offers on there just from having a profile (didn't take any though).

The $1,000,000---What to Do When They're Not Biting!
3 words: Drop shot (maybe that's 1) and Finesse (Technically thats 4, but don't count the 'and'). I was never very confident in the drop shot, but I have to say, it's a deadly technique in this heat. If they do happen to be holding really tight to the bottom, throw them a small worm (I like a purple or blue 4 inch curly tail worm). I throw both of these on an ultralight (YES, I said ultralight) and 6 lb. test. The bites are few and far between but the fight is GREAT on such light tackle. Surprisingly, it produces decent sized fish too.

Who's up for a PA meet up? Raystown James Creek Launch Sept. 25th 8am meet
Ok, here are some dates. If anyone absolutely cannot make any of these, we can remove them. I don't know of any other way to do this and keep it organized

Who's up for a PA meet up? Raystown James Creek Launch Sept. 25th 8am meet
Ok, I think Raystown wins. I'm going to kill this poll. What months are good for everyone? I'm full the end of Sept. but any week in Oct. I'm cool with. August and Nov. are open too, but I think Oct. is primetime for Raystown (stripers should be on fire then! and the LMB won't be too far behind).
