  1. I know you would need a lot of it, but would that foam spray work that you spray into holes in your house (like after you run a cable in). It's meant to get wet and expands like crazy once it comes out of the can haha.
  2. Don't worry man, they know what they are doing. They drain lakes all the time and the fish do just fine. You should see Sayer's Dam when they drain it. They drain it twice a year and all the fish get stuck in tiny pockets of water. They usually drain the lakes down to a certain depth because the damage is at that depth and they need to have the water away from it so they can work. They have their reasons to do this around this time. I don't know why, but I would guess they want to repair it before ice over. Ice can do damage to dams, maybe it is something that needs fixed now. The work doesn't have to be approved by the Fish Commission because the DCNR owns that lake, they can do whatever they want with it They know what they are doing though. The fishing is going to suck afterwards, but its better than having the dam break and have the entire lake rolling down the mountain side. Trust me, it's going to suck for a few months afterward, but it's going to be better for the lake in the long run. Sayer's usually recovers from drainages really quickly and they even do that yearly.
  3. Vicious makes some good line too. I haven't used the FC yet but I just switched to their braid and it's a very good product. I've heard their old FC is very stiff but their new FC is great (haven't tried it though, waiting until my trilene runs out).
  4. Well we see who won AOY and what lures they use.... Ha jk Anyway, im sure skeet has about 300 cranks laying around that arent LC. Pros have all kinds of random tackle just like us average Joes. Of course, no one can deny that Sexy Shad is a great color
  5. You arent breaking with the mono because its stretching and taking some of the stress off the leader. Braid doesnt stretch so all that impact is going into the leader. Use a heavier FC, 30 and 6 seem way off. I use 10lb FC with 30lb braid and 12 to 20 lb FC with any braid over 40lb.
  6. X2 Usually if things are that bad that nothing you have set up is working, you need to fish slow anyway. If you're mad, you aren't going to fish slow ha ha. That's what makes a good angler though, learning to adapt to changes and figure out the puzzle. Fish are predictable, yet unpredictable at the same time...
  7. Hahaha oh man thats awesome. My transducer looks like that one catt posted. I always thought that end was the business end... Wow I dont even know how ive been using it haha well now you see how much I actually use the sonar its all skill fishing for me ha jk
  8. I bet the fish are in that grass or mill foil. When the water gets hot, I target the grass. The fish are probably in there. Not on the edges, but IN the cover. Toss a wacky rigged senko or sluggo and let it lay on top of the grass. They will eventually find it. Patience is key in the heat, you have to slow down. You can try deep also but I bet they will be suspended over the deep water and not near the bottom. Look for a point and fish it back toward the deeper areas until you find the magic depth.
  9. Minnkota! I love my Minnkota and have never had a lick of trouble with it. That sounds kind of odd, I know. I don't usually go nuts over a product, but Minnkota really excels over other brands. I've hit many a rock or timber with the prop and thought it was done for, pulled it up and it didn't even have a scratch on it.
  10. Hey thanks Slonezp, you helped me too (and didnt even know it!) By looking at your photos I realize now that I am a complete idiot and have had my transducer pointing the wrong direction. I had that flat part that is sticking out toward your motor pointed DOWN into the water... I'll fix that and see if I get better readings HA
  11. Wolf and Fishing Spiders will come after you if you get into their 'zone'. I have to inspect every inch of an area before I'll fish HAHA. Those fishing spiders will pop out of nowhere and chase me out of an area... yes, a 3 inch spider chases me away...
  12. Glenn, use the powers of your mustache to find that error!
  13. I only downsize in the heat if big and slow isn't working. AND I only downsize my ribbon tail worms. I have never noticed a difference when downsizing swimbaits, jigs, or any of that other stuff (craws seem to work better if they are bigger anyway ). I guess what I'm saying is what everyone else already said: Use the same lures, only slower... if that doesn't work, try a different size.
  14. No. Well, yes, but thats going to happen with any phone haha. It will get it's updates and be pretty current for awhile. My original Droid feels old now, but it's still 'current'. Phones and tech. change so fast these days that you'll never be able to have 'bleeding edge' technology without buying new phones every few months. The Android OS updates itself pretty regularly and adds new features so any android phone is really going to be current for a good while. I can't believe how far phones have come. When I started working here, camera phones were 'the thing' and you could only pick from 2 or 3 models with cameras AND they were expensive. Now, just 3 years later, its hard to find a phone WITHOUT a camera (we get requests for that, Amish people get those HA).
  15. Yeah, I think everyone voted by now. Looks like we will be tournament free too! Is anyone coming or wants to come that DOESN'T have something to float in?
  16. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Raystown+James+Creek+Launch&sll=40.373097,-78.15691&sspn=0.021546,0.045447&ie=UTF8&hq=Raystown+James+Creek+Launch&hnear=&ll=40.367016,-78.157468&spn=0.02073,0.045447&t=h&z=15 If you put Rochester in on that page as "from" and James Creek Road as "to" it will give you directions John. That will get you close for sure. I hope Aitch wins so you're directions will be rendered useless! MUAHAHA HA Anyway, I don't mind meeting anyone in a more civilized area if they need help getting to the launch, just all have to agree on a time. The launches are pretty well marked though and have signs to them from miles out. Google's good about getting you in!
  17. I'm pretty sure student cards are the same. They just have lower credit limits (like $250). I have never seen a student card that didn't charge a yearly fee though, so watch for that. Yearly fees are stupid and NEVER get a card that has them.
  18. Tell that to the bank when you need a car loan, or you want to get your utilities hooked up after you move... I had to pay fee's on my gas and electric because I had almost no credit at all. Oh, AND I haven't finished school yet because I can't get school loans because, again, almost no credit score. It sucks, but the world revolves around your credit score now... Heck, it's better to have BAD credit than it is NO credit. I'm very anal about my bills and I have a pretty good score now (I think?), but guess what's keeping it from being real good? OH! All those school loans that aren't being paid (some of them they won't let me defer, and I cannot afford to pay them). Ok, I'm done venting...
  19. No way, this is an all day event my friend Just kidding!
  20. This is an interesting subject. I have never really took notice to the color of that area when I catch fish. I did notice the other day while watching Bill Dance though, that all the fish he caught during that episode had a red upper lip. He was fishing in 42 degree waters. I looked through some of my photos and none of my fish ever had (that I had a picture of) the red upper lip. Even the ones that were caught right before the water got hard. Guess we need to start studying bass and come up with an answer
  21. Throw some topwater baits all over that area. I've even had my bait land on top of pads, then have a bass go for them and smack them into the water. If that happens, let it sit (or give it some SMALL twitches) and that bass is going to come back and destroy that lure! I agree with what has already been said. Morning and evening are you best times to fish them, but they could be hitting topwater ALL day.
  22. I hope you guys bring these on our meet up I want to see them. All the reviews I have seen sound like they are a good rod!
  23. I have an eagle sonar unit also. It shows any little lump of grass as a fish. If you turn that fish id off, turn the sensitivity up and the screen speed (i think they call it the refresh rate) down it does an ok job of showing you the bottom and cover.
  24. Maybe he should just stick to doing commercials... How many times can 1 person retire?
  25. I thought it looked like something that.... oh, never mind, this is a family friendly forum... Raul, should I start pulling the tails off my grubs?
