I love fishing in the city, i work right off the river and just a couple blocks east of the lake. I try to get out there a least once a week, it's definitly becoming a much more productive smallmouth fishery. The next illinois smallmouth record will most likly come from the lake,

Wacky rigged zoom fish doctors and centipedes, I cant stop cating fish. I caught a 5 and a 3 in one day thats pretty good for illinois.

I leave for canada on the 31st for a four day trip. I went with my buddy and his family last year and we did really well on pike and walleye, but those guys weren't really interested in fishing for smallmouth. This year I would like to target some smallie since I love bassin and I know thier there, do you guys have any tips. The place were fishing is lake Vaughn I think its a backwater area of lynx lake. I just bought a Dawia caldia 2500 reel and im looking for a rod to put it on. I thought it would look good on one of these rods and I've heard some good things about them but I'd like a little more info and opinions, since I can't find one to check out in person.
