  1. Lots of good advice above - mine is - go fishing and pay attention to the whole scene
  2. Use to do well with frogs and senkos - same as every canal in sofla
  3. Throw frogs or spooks (I prefer frogs) take nothing but frogs and throw them in cover and in open water in any canal in so. Fl. - stay with it you will be rewarded I promise you.
  4. Not sure this is applicable in your case but I go to softer action rods with braid when used with treble hooks and I've not found a better knot for fc than a slowly tightened well wetted trilene knot.
  5. senkos and frogs would be my first choice - almost any fresh water canal in so. Fla. holds bass of surprising size.
  6. I figure any critter out there has as much right as I do to fish or hunt or whatever - folks can get crazy. We've had guys shooting canadian geese and leaving them to rot because they pooped on their river bank. I did have an otter strip a trotline of mine one time - gave me a chuckle.
  7. Bottles of frozen water and salt are all I've ever used and I can't remember losing a fish due to the livewell performance.
  8. I use the old mantra "when in doubt - set the hook"
  9. fish them more
  10. all good advice - for myself - jerks and topwaters
  11. New York state has amazing fishing and you can always find a career to support a fishing habit - a lucrative career now that may take a better education.
  12. One of the reasons we retired from Florida and moved north to brown fish country
  13. Myself - I would be throwing topwaters until they couldn't take it anymore
  14. They've been caught out of salt lick creek in central WV
  15. Several years ago in the everglades I killed a 6 1/2 bass in a tournament - hook on the frog was driven into the roof of his mouth - I figured it hit her brain or something she was dead when I got her to the boat.
  16. The great thing about Florida bass in their home state is they eat surface baits - most, ( 80%+) , of the over 7# bass I've caught in Florida were on top.
  17. Good lake for topwaters
  18. You did right - life is far too short and fishing time too precious to let some nitwit ruin your day - I always figure they are motherless and had no one to teach them manners - as to being armed - once fire arms are brought into the equation all bets for a safe and sane ending are over.
  19. The canal in front of the jolly roger holds some good fish
  20. I switched to mono from braid with my stiff rods -
  21. water temps over 65 - windy - I am going to be using big noisy aggressive topwaters - many over 7's have liked this approach
  22. Did you check Jolly Roger down the canal from Rolands?
