Fish with real big lures - surface or swimbait - then you can tell people you aren't catching BIG fish - I've done this for years and you will see some fish and learn a few things and maybe eventually catch a huge one.

big noisy in your face topwaters with long casts - you must keep chunking and chugging but eventually (sometimes) (sometimes often) they will eat years ago I would try to finesse these snobby cruisers but over the years I've decided it's more fun and more productive to challenge them to eat a big noisy meal this isn't a numbers technique but it is good for big fish when your chance for numbers is slim at best

Johns lake is between Toho and Apopka and holds really big fish and isn't too big a water to figure out - if you fish apopka the gourd neck spring is where you have your best shot.

jig fishing - sharp hooks - don't be afraid to fine hone your hooks - I know we have hooks that are incredibly sharp but if the jig has a heavy hook I'll touch it up with a diamond hone

I just found out about river rock lures - they make a sled/jig? anyway they make a great jig that you screw soft plastic bait into - I fished it for hours in our rocky snaggy river - caught fish and very few snags - with a white 4" twister tail it is a killer walleye bait and with a tube it is good for sm - there are any number of ways to rig it

I try and use them all - with good knots I don't think it matters - like most of fishing what you have confidence in is what will work for you. Try them all and build confidence one way or the other.

They may just get dormant and tough to get to bite - in a pond a situation made for a 1/32 oz ned rig and some patience.

I'd use a mh spinning rod with 20# braid and a mono leader of 8 - 15# test - will handle big fish in cover if you keep your cool. There are no real substitutes for the original rapala.

Bass tournaments illustrate that (during the same time frame) bass are caught on different lures, techniques, depths, etc. They are caught by anglers of all different types from highly organized to hardly organized - some approach with science and some with a lucky hat. The common theme shared by all successful bass fishermen is they are on the water fishing.
