I like braid on spinning reels because you dont have the memory problems like you do with mono.

What if...?
I've noticed that Pinnacle has some great customer service. What if I were to buy a Pinnacle reel, say in the $80 dollar range, and after fishing it find that I don't like it? Not that there is anything "broken", but it is just not a satisfactory product? Maybe it is grinding, not smooth, cheap drag, ect. I'm not bashing Pinnacle by suggesting any of those things will happen, I just want a good product before I buy Pinnacle instead of say Daiwa or Shimano.

Help Me With My 2010 Rod Shopping
If you have the money, the shimano SAROS reel is amazing. You can get them delivered to your door priority mail, new in box from ebay for $99. They are lightweight and built on a small frame with plenty of power. Go to the online/ebay store "Lakeside Reels". Its a small family owned buisness and they have GREAT service and prices on many reels (many SIGNIFICANTLY lower than msrp). In my opinion, you cannot tell the difference from the Saros to the $180 Stradic FI, except that the Saros is smaller framed. But the Saros has power - almost 15 lbs of drag in 3000 size! Look it up on Shimano's website. I think that the Citica or again if you have the extra a Daiwa Advantage, but thats getting a little pricey. Although you could probably find a great deal for it at Lakeside. I don't have any rods in the $100 dollar price range for Bass fishing, so I can't really recomend any. I do mostly saltwater fishing, where reels are more important than super sensitive rods. But most true bass fisherman say that a sensitive rod is very important, and the little bass fishing experience I have, I find that to be true. I hear nothing but good about the Falcon Bucoos and Originals (the originals are even cheaper than the bucoos!). Plus, they are made in the USA! Good luck, I hope you have a good season!

Broken Reel Seat Help
Im not saying I have a solution, but I would definately think don't epoxy the reel on. Maybe try to return it or send it to manufacturer (and insist that they pay shipping ;D)? Can't hurt to try.

Ultralight Reel?
whatever your current favorite spinning reel is. Get the size to match a medium action rod. I fish for bluegills with a medium spinning reel and ultralight rods and it might not be perfectly balanced, but it will cast far because of the wider spool and less line twist. You can cast a long way with four lb line, a ultra light rod, and a medium reel.

Worst time hooking yourself
Last summer when I was working on my dads boat I had to get a customer's fish off. We fish in the ocean for seabass using what bass fisherman would call a drop shot rig. Except our's are weighted with up to a pound and we use 5 odd hooks on them. At the begging of the trip we always ask the customers to hold the sinkers for us when we take their fish off so that nobody gets hit with flying lead or gets an unwanted piercing (the boat is rocking). So this guy, unlike most, actually held his sinker. I got the fish off, and he decided he was done holding his 5 or 6 ounces of lead, I forget which, so he dropped them. Its lucky nobody got hurt.... oh no wait I DID. The hook came down and with the sinker pulling it down stuck in my elbow. But the best part was how the guy saw it happen and didn't say anyhting. Not a serious hooking by any means I just love how I'm standing there bleeding and the guy says nothing. ;D
