Introduction And Questions
Welcome aboard, Drew! Not sure what the issues is. I usually can find what I'm looking for when I use the search function. Perhaps you can elaborate a little more, i.e., a little more specific on what you're searching for?

Braid As A Leader
No reason you can't use it as a leader. But I can't imagine one why you'd want to. I use extra braid to repair my kids' school backpacks (when they leave a lunch in it and the dog(s) shred them apart to find the awesome smelling food left therein, LOL).

Hook Set Technique?
Typically reel down, lower rod tip, lift. If using heavier hooks like on a jig, it is all relative to the situation. I will do a quick lift, but never a massive hookset like I see so often on TV. Just me and my preference. Not that there's anything wrong with it. Excitement is always part of the hook-setting equation, soooo.....

Don't have any of those rods, Tony. But I wanted to welcome you to the forums seeing this is your first post!

Braid
I use 10lb PP on all my spinning gear. Caught a mess of 6 pounders on it with zero problems. Swear by the stuff.

Daiwa Procyon
Can't speak to the Procyon reels, but I do own two Stradic 1000FI reels, and one Lexa 2000SH reel. I've compared the Lexa quite favorably to the Stradics in terms of smoothness. I really like the very positive feel of Daiwa's bail system, a tad more than I like Shimano's. But (granted, there's a size difference) I much prefer the lightness and gear ratio of my Stradics. If I had extra $$ laying around, I'd love to try one of the new Ballistics.

Drop Shot Question (Noob)
Welcome aboard! I don't tie a swivel for drop shotting. So i normally tie a leader about one to two arm stretches in length, and tie the hook about 24-28" up from the bottom.

Best Sunglasses
Strike King makes a decent pair of glasses. Some guys here swear by them. Personally, after several pairs of poly carb glasses I decided on buying a pair of Costas (with wife's approval, of course). Haven't regretted it for a moment. Not a scratch on them after years of use. Oh, got the glass, not the plastic. For me it was worth the expense. May not be for you, so be sure to read online reviews of the SK's, and other brands. Other guys here will chime in on their experiences.

Kayak Help
The price-point certainly limits what you'll be able to buy in terms of quality fishing yaks. But in that range, I'd look on Craigslist, and classifieds for used Wilderness Systems Tarpons as they track very well. You didn't mention whether or not you need to stand, so I'll assume that's not a need. There are other brands I'd recommend, but the best advice is to find a kayak shop near you that has a demo days where you can get some on-the-water time in various kayaks. That'll help you determine the best fit for you. As well, they'll have recommendations for you specifically related to fishing and the type of requirements you mentioned.

Line Diameter For Baitcasting Reels?
My BCs are spooled with 20# Power Pro which has a 6# mono equivalent diameter. I don't have a huge issue with line digging in, although it does happen. Not enough to bother me much.

Micro Guides And Leaders?
Sorry to revive an old thread... was curious and searching so I commented... I was looking at the new BPS Carbonlite micro last night, strongly considered it, but passed due to this very issue. I have no idea what size BPS is using, but I was quite concerned it wouldn't work. And I use 20# Power Pro and up to a 15# leader. Pretty good at tying a very slim, and tight Albright/mod. Even so.... But the weight difference - to me - was stark. Quite a bit lighter, the micro rods.

Quantity And Quality In Your Life
4" Senko, and knock-offs 4.75" Zoom Finesse worms Wacky rigged has caught me the most 6 pounders of anything I've tried. Also scored me my PB at 7.5lbs (no, that was a 5" senko, actually).

More With Buddy, Or Not?
I catch more alone. Buddies I have are like me, kayak fishermen, we rarely get out together due to work schedules and such. When we do, we end up separating most of the time anyhow because we all have "our" spots. For safety, I always wear my PFD, have a whistle, water (drinking), etc. Someone always knows where I am. I don't fish at night, though. Reservoirs here are sun up to sun down.
