  1. Uni-to-uni, Albright (and variants) are my favorites. They are the easiest, IMO, and with practice, you will become proficient and confident in your ties. I usually use more wraps, the thinner the leader, as well.
  2. Fantastic! And jealous, too
  3. LOL, sometimes when I watched Clunn talk, my eyes slowly started to cross. He just lost me, and I consider myself someone who gets a lot of the esoteric stuff.
  4. There was only one Johnny Carson, and only one Ed McMahon. There's only one Ike, but the other guy? Sorry
  5. LOL. Yeah, I bailed a little while ago...
  6. Hey, those bare things, sticking out from the sleeves of your shirt...what are they, exactly? We don't usually see those until a few months from now. Then we'll show you all OUR fish Congrats, really. Nice catches.
  7. Nice setup. What color BPS Stick-o's are those? I can't quite tell, but one looks like Watermelon Magic? Am I right or wrong? I love that color, BTW.
  8. Coots, I'm in the "I use fluoro" group, but I've only been so over the past year. And I *only* use it as a leader -- but only some of the time. Predominately, I use either P-Line Floroclear (fluorocarbon-coated copoly line), or Yo-Zuri Hybrid (fluorocarbon-bonded copoly). Those two lines, are by far, more versatile than pure fluoro -- in my experience. And my PB, and many many big bass have come off those lines. FWIW, I also am a soft-plastics fisherman, so my presentations are much slower, in the fishes "face" longer than a crank bait, as it were. Only saying this to plant the thought that fluoro is not the everything line some make it out to be. But like Glenn said, it has its place. I will tie it on when I have a feeling the conditions require it. If I happen to hit a snag and puuuuullll to try and free the hook, I need to retie the fluoro leader. I don't always do that, and several times I've regretted not doing it. So my personal experience with fluoro is both positive and negative.
  9. Before I went all-braid mainline + leader, I used, among other lines, clear blue fluorescent line. It worked and worked perfectly fine. I caught all manner of fish, including *plenty* of nice bass. Like others encouraged you, you'll be fine. Plus it's fairly easy to see especially under a black light, according to the night fisherfolk.
  10. I used to use stabilizers, first on a canoe, then on my first kayak. I made my own out of lobster buoys and PVC, along with Scotty rod holders. They are great for keeping you from being tippy, if you're worried about that. My main reason for using them was to stand in unstable crafts. My current hybrid kayak doesn't require them, I can stand with ease. So if you're a guy who doesn't plan on standing, you might like the extra stability they provide when you're fighting a fish and get pulled to one side, or you lurch quickly for some reason. If you plan to stand in the Moken 10, then you probably want them. 2 cents.
  11. Welcome aboard, Clark!
  12. Welcome aboard, Zhou!
  13. 1) I fish all the way down to size 4 Gamakatsu Wide-Gap Finesse hooks. I fish them both seated and standing from my yak, no real issues to speak of. 2) 2/0 - not necessarily. How are you setting the hook? Do you reel down the slack, then sweep your rod? Or do you do a quick jerk of the rod? I personally find the former a more consistent method to hooking the fish, that as well as the ONE....TWO...THREEE hook set. 3) I have tested a lot of different hook brands. I like the Gammy WGF hooks probably best. Gammy drop shots next, I like Owner wacky hooks, as well. Tested much more, these are just my favs right now. I also never use an O ring. I know some swear by them, but I never have. I prefer to use heat shrink and hook perpendicular to the worm - if I even use the heat shrink at all.
  14. Yeah, me too, but I was just making certain, LOL.
  15. LOL. Well, I have such a guilty conscience that I have to tell my wife when I've made a purchase I shouldn't have. The only one I've not revealed, so far, is the Avid. The Chronarch was after that, and fully revealed. Actually, she knows I have the Avid, but no details (and which needs to be replaced under warranty for broken tip). So I've had to make up for things with roses, "hey hon, buy whatever you want tonight" type of things.
  16. I could never buy something priced that high (unless I won the lottery). My wife would quickly deal with me and send me to the doghouse if I even entertained the thought. Great looking, but I'm in the beer wallet, champagne taste category.
  17. I'm glad we all realize dailycurrant.com is a satirical site, like The Onion... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Daily_Currant
  18. Gotta love satire! Like this, too: http://www.theonion.com/articles/russian-officials-promise-low-death-toll-for-olymp,35201/
  19. Don't know if any of you have seen one of these before, but I stumbled upon it while browsing. At almost $500 USD, it is out of my range, but a darn slick looking rod - at least I think it is. Weighs in around 4 oz, and the different weights are magnetic inserts into the base of the rod handle. Anyhow, just thought it was cool looking. http://www.pecheur.com/en/gb/buy-spinning-rod-caperlan-premonition-85121.html
  20. Welcome aboard, Joe!
  21. Awesome catch, and welcome to the forums!
  22. You're not alone, Hootie! Things have been really wonky this afternoon on the forums. I've been logged in as other people, etc. Glenn is working on it. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/130847-issues-with-forums/
  23. Nope. Belay that. Posts are not showing up when I make them, until a bit later... EDIT: Well, isn't that weird. I make a second post and all are there. I'll shut up now and let Glenn fix things.
