  1. Another fan here of 1000 size reels. I also like 2000, as I've been using a Daiwa Lexa 2000 on my ML Avid. Braid eliminates line management issues for smaller spools, so not a problem there. Never had a bass, catfish, etc. spool my 1000 reels. And I use M powered rods for the 1000s.
  2. Welcome to BR, Matt.
  3. 1/8-1/4 probably. Sometimes a little longer. Zero tag for braid to leader Albright...
  4. Hey that's pretty awesome!
  5. Welcome, Dan!
  6. Welcome, Jack!
  7. Lunkercity Fin-S 1/16oz crappie jig head, and 1.5" Panfish Assassin minnows in various colors, dipped in JJ's Magic.
  8. Nice Pic! Caught most of mine on either crappie jigs, wacky/TX rigged worms, or cranks.

  14. Wow! A hearty congrats!
  15. Indeed. Buddy of mine lost $80 sunglasses, a $100 rod/reel combo and a bunch more after inadvertently bumping a wasp nest while out kayaking. Had to dive in to avoid the swarm. He leashes everything now... Bad stuff happens, at least you seem to have a good attitude about it.
  16. Do you need a baitcaster? No. Is it worth trying out the modern models? That's up to you. Me? Yes it is. But you definitely want to enjoy fishing, and if you have a tool that just doesn't cooperate with you, then the task at hand isn't as enjoyable. So ball is in your court
  17. Good gravy, what a catch!
  18. That's what I woulda thought
  19. These guys have way too much fun!
  20. Tried it, didn't like it; however, that was before I started using FC, copoly, etc., as leader-only material. Probably would have been great for that, but I didn't hold on to it long enough to test it out.
  21. Yeah, that was before the killer beaver news! These days I'm pretty wary. Actually come across otters more than beavers, but still, they're fast, wild, deserve respect and distance despite being so darn cool! We got our gear back, but the camera and phone were toast. Spent too much time taking in water. Years later, I've recouped the costs (I think). A ton safer now, anyways.
  22. Happy birthday! Nice presents the Z man brought you
  23. Those are the moments I consider jumping in after it. Capsized my canoe a few years back, only in 3' of water, but 2 more feet of muck, a beaver-infested area with no dry land to stand on. Got my rods back, but my crocs went to Davy Jones Locker of Muck. LOL. Most expensive capsize for me, also ruined my mobile phone and camera... Today, those things go in water proof bags in my yak.
  24. Great fish!
