Salt water and freshwater gear
I heard that you shouldnt use your freshwater reels in salt water cause it will ruin your reel. Was wondering if i did use my fresh stuff and cleaned it right after fishing salt if they would be ok?Really want to fish but dont want to spend money on salt equipment if i dont have to.Also if anyone knows good fishing spots in the treasure island area please tell me

Braided line on a baitcaster
When 'kevlar' line first hit the street, it did in fact groove the rod guides unless the rings were made of silicon nitride or silicon carbide. Although kevlar triggered a stigma, polyethylene braid is a different animal. I use nothing but PE braid, and I've only seen guide-grooving once, and it was the tiptop guide of an $80 Bionic Blade with non-fuji aluminum oxide inserts. Roger Thank you roger I guess when i made that post should have said they wear 40$ wal-mart rods that the beginer and average fisherman buy,and for people who dont have 100$-300$ to drop on a st.croix.

Buying a first all-purpose baitcaster rod/reel.....opinions?
Name brands were not my first thing i look at when buying rods&reels.Number of bearings five or more if you want it to last rods i always go with graphite rods although you can get away with glass rods when crankbaiting. But number of bearnings and gear ratio are what i look at first when buying baitcasters. So with that being said a reel with five or more bearings for first baitcaster i'd go with a ratio of 6.1 or better.Rod 6'6" MH graphite rod.

Braided line on a baitcaster
Throw that braid out,it wears groves in your eyelets of your rod,Ill never use braid again now i know that!!!!!

crankbait question
The biggest advantage to cranks is the ability to cover water.Cranks can be fished year round and anywhere on the water, open water banging the bank, deep structure etc... I try to use what bass will see in that certain type of water color. The depth of structure and cover will determine which model i fish maybe shallow mid or deep diving.

Spro Little Johns... What colors for all around use?
I got a buddy that can catch fish on spooky shad all day.I made a order for spooky shad and cell mate like but didnt oreder the PB&J,looks nice for spring crankbait.
