Well this weekend is kinda bitter sweet. I was supposed to go to shelbyville this weekend w/ my dad and finally get my boat out on some big water but we canceled. A lot of other stuff went down today but i ended up finally getting my first bass of the season. Tossin a 1/4oz red eye shad in gizzard shad. I missed him the first time after he hit got angry started swearing. I let it sit there as i wallowed in self pity and then started it up again and whack. The fish was nothing to write home about but at least I got one! Caught it at lake Sedgewick in Orland Park

I used'em but have no clue. I usually tie them on for my friends that "want to learn to fish" instead of tieing on some expensive stuff

I guess i should have phrased my question differently, where in the hell y'all fishin this weekend?

I was trying to avoid the crowd given the beautiful weather. It was a miserable morning on Heidecki. I imagine it was like that on all the cooling lakes with the 20+mph winds we had. Waves were white capping and my boat doesn't fit under the bridge so we were stuck fishing the south side. IT was worth it though. Get out there finally and wet some lines and burn up some of that old gas. Water temps were 54F +/- 1F on the south side of the tracks.

Heidecke (spelling lol) tomorrow. As long as i dont find anything wrong w/ my boat when it comes out of storage this afternoon! Any advice? Plan on throwin some spinners Anyone get out there for opening day today?

What part(s) are you planning on hitting? If you wouldnt mind postin a lil report and some water temps. IMa head down there in 2 weeks.

I luckily live a lil over an hour away from plano's injection molding facility. We took a trip out there to their outlet store it was amazing. I was like a kid in a candy store. I went there to buy a new tackle box because the plastic lid on my 7xxx series broke. They gave me a new one and knocked down the prices on all of the other storage containers and what not.

I got a pair of radars and am looking to buy an extra polarized lense for them. Color recommendations?

You fish it yet? Any luck. I hate to say it but i think my first trip down there wont be until mid april :/. Bar crawl for St. Pattys Day nxt weekend. Bass pro up here in bolingbrook is giving a free 2 hr topography class on how to break down new bodies of water the 20th. Essentially its the In Fisherman method of breaking water down but has a few tweeks. REO concert the 26th, Easter the following, then we are to my date. Hopefully ill get to braidwood a few times. Please keep me updated though on the bite if you dont mind. When i do make the trip down there I might have to stop on the way in through town and pick your brain.

lol ive gone through the same stuff man. I bought a tackle bag and was like man i got room to expand it until the bait monkey got me. Should be able to get to the waters next weekend by the looks of this warming trend we have coming.

LOL... I fish the cooling lakes in hte joliet area. Locally i dont do much fishing in the neighborhood. O Fo has a hidden retention pond that I do plan on hitting as soon as it thaws out, hopefully next weekend, but besides that lake shelbyville. There are some places west of here that supposedly hold some nice fish. A underfished place is lake sedgewick in orland park (centenial park) Then there is the usual, tampier and saganaski (spelling). Right now im restricted to casting in my backyard and tearing up my parents flower pots.

Smart investment, when she hits it big forget a big house, you want aloaded z-9 or skeeter fx series. Ive never had much luck in the area for largemouth. Im over in oak forest but have never fished your area.

Yea my coworker told me that braidwood opened. My rig is still in hibernation. I got to get it out one of these weekends. its probably a zoo out there seeing its the only lake fishable now due to the ice. If any ones going and is lookin for some company, just hit me up.

I started with a black maxx by abu to see if i wanted to get into it or just stick w/ spinning gear. Decided it was worth investing in one atleast so i picked up my first e7. Without a doubt an awesome reel. This was quite an off season for me. I picked up a abu revo winch for those big ol deep diving crankers and wat not and then came across curados both 5s and 7s for $140 each. Needless to say I bought 3 more lol. Sold one to my buddy and kept the other to for myself. My neighbors already know im crazy, lol.

go figure, lol illinois is prejudice. Gotta wait for shelbyville to thaw out or the cooling lakes to open up. I can tell you this, i have such a bad case of cabin fever i was flippin/pitchin in the backyard w/ the snow still on the ground. Had to play w/ my new curados!
