JERKBAITS!!!!
Over the years, I have caught a ton of Bass on Smithwick "Suspending Rogues" and Rapala "Husky Jerks". Then going up pricewise, are the Rapala "X-Raps". At even a higher price is the LuckyCraft "Pointers". They have all caught fish for me, but all cost different prices.

Hard Jerkbaits
I got a selection of Pointers, X-Raps, Husky Jerks, and Suspending Rogues,....and I catch fish on ALL of them. Be sure to give them a pause between the jerks, as often, that's when the fish will hit. Sometimes the fish really want a loooooooong pause. Try different cadences to find out what they want that day. Pick your lure color by the choice of baitfish known to be present. I agree with white lures; done well with them. I usually start with a chrome/ with blue back, or a gold/ black back/orange belly, depending upon what the forage fish are.

Bass Pro Shop Gift Certificate Questions
Please dismiss the following rantings as those of a deranged topwater-junkie....[LOL] This coming summer, I will have been playing with these little green fish for fifty years with lures only. Hmm, come to think of it, maybe they have been playing with me...{LOL} Get yourself a 'Super Spook Jr' in Albino... Learn to 'walk the dawg' with this. Get yourself a 'Chug Bug' in color 'shad'...... Try different cadences with this lure, and also the Spook JR, until you see what the fish want that day. Get a 5/8 ounce sized Jitterbug in BLACK. You will thank me over and over for this if you use it at night, moving it steadily but as slow as you can to keep it doing that "Blub, blub, blub, blub" noise, making a wake on top with it. It works better for me now, than fifty years ago when I started using it. *Change the factory treble-hooks to Owner st41 trebles in size 1/0{far better hookup rates will occur then}. You need a small straight-bladed screwdriver to do this Get some Zoom "Horny Toads" in the watermelon/black flakes, and also the two-tone, brown over white ones. Buzz then on top of the water in weeds or on weedline edges, or open-water lanes in the weed. Get some Heavy-wire EWG in size 4/0 to fish the above mentioned Horny Toads on. Get a SnagProof "Bobby's Perfect Frog" in color BLACK. Get another that is all White, or has a white belly, at least. Get some Zoom "Super Flukes" in white-pearl color. {Use above EWG hooks for those , too}. Get some 2/0 Gamakatsu or Owner "Octopus" hooks [not the circle hooks]. Use these to nose-hook the Super Fluke in open water conditions for great hookup rates. Have fun with these lures. They ALL bring me great fun, and I have all of them rigged on most trips

Need Help! Time to Fish Yet?
Fish are already biting here in NY, and considering we are about two hour's drive [at least] from you, yeah, you're fish should be receptive. Now you got to find them , and then figure out a bait to work. Try a suspending jerkbait, with loooong pauses between jerks. Sometimes, they will dang near jerk the rod from you; other times they will just seem like dead weight as they hit on the pause and just hold the bait in their mouths, which you then feel there when you go to make your next jerk. Jigs would be my second choice of lure. Work them slow, especially near wood or rock. Use brown or black ones.

Newbie from Alabama!!
Welcome aboard from NY ! We were all new to it at one time or another. I have been playing with those silly green fish {or is it they have been playing with me ?} for 50 years this upcoming summer. There are four really important things to remember about Bass: 1].. Largemouth Bass are cold-blooded creatures that respond to changes in water temperatures [and other things in their enviorment]. 2].. Largemouth Bass are cyclical in their annual patterns, and once you learn their annual movement program, you can be much more dialed into finding them , year to year. 3].. Largemouth Bass will often move during each day, throughout the day, often into the shallows at low light periods of night, and then they move slightly or even considerably deeper during bright sunshine of daylight, to deeper water or under cover to shade and conceal themselves from the bright sunbeams. 4].. This is the most important one. Just when you think you got them all dialed in and think you're hot "cheets" fishingwise, those silly greeen fish will often stop biting [and move] and truly humble you. ;D Been there, done that !! Remember, fishing is 'supposed' to be fun...keep it that way. Enjoy it always. Some days are just better than others.... 8-)

** " Fish for the Cure" **
"Fish for the Cure" ------------------ On May 27th, I am hosting a fund-rasing event to raise money for Breast Cancer Research done through the American Cancer Society. I am hosting this event for many reasons, but most importantly FOR A CURE TO CANCER BE FOUND so hopefully someday no woman ever again will ever have to go through the physical and emotional hell that my wife went through, seven-plus years ago now. Over 7 years ago, my wife had a masectomy and lymph node removal , requiring 13 hours of surgery, followed by 6 months of aggressive chemotherapy. Thank God she survived !! I am seeking checks made payable to 'the American Cancer Society", an organization we all know and respect for ANY amount that you can send, even if it is only a few dollars. These checks will be added to the funds the event that I am hosting will generate, and be given to the American Cancer Society representative at the same time at the conclusion of the event. Make check payable to: The American Cancer Society Mail to : "Fish for the Cure"/Wild Bill 25 Doris Place Malverne, NY 11565 If you would like to donate any fishing gear to be raffled off in a fund-raising raffle for this purpose at the event, please mail to the same address. 100% of all proceeeds generated will be donated, and I am making NOTHING on this myself as host of the event. The American Cancer Society rep there that day will be pulling the raffle tickets, and also the 50/50 drawing that day, with ALL proceeds being donated then. If you have ANY questions or want more info, please contact me via e-mail at : fishnwilly@optonline.net Thanks so much for your support of this fund-raiser for research for a disease we are all too familiar with. Please join me and other Bass anglers to show the world , that as a group, we Bassers all do care and do give a d**n about such a serious disease . Sincerely, "Wild Bill" Holzapfel * Moderators: If I have placed this in the wrong spot or am in the wrong for posting this, I sincerely apologize. As you all can imagine, this cause is very near and dear to me.

What have you lost from it going overboard?
So far, just hats and cheap sunglasses getting blown off my head while running on pad.
