  1. You gotta start somewhere. Ive seen a guy on tv before who got where he is today by winning tournaments in a belly boat
  2. geez.Well wont be too long before one that could eat that thing comes out of california ;D
  3. I understand this in a tournament situation or if you have a giant pig on and its barely hooked, but jumping makes everything so much more fun. I prefer tip up its natural and it feels better and you get every aspect of the fight
  4. The delta is 1000 miles of waterways and the pros come to california one time like every 2 years. And melones only has certain good areas and 60 boats plus weekend anglers might make things tougher
  5. Okay I'm ready for the Delta to light on fire BUT THESE FREAKIN COLD FRONTS ARE PREVENTING THAT!But i think...just maybe, that after this week things will start lighting up....so cross your fingers
  6. ummmm...As long as theres not many people, Kelsey Slough should be good. Last time when we were at the state park last year, If we weren't out on the water, me and my friend would wade and fish from shore. We didn't catch a single fish from that thing, When 2 years before me and my couzin caught about 23 pounds of bass in the 4 hours we fished it. But both those last times were in early june. I suggest you bring some sort of kayak, canoe, or belly boat and fish the tules around the park with senkos and such. That usually works for us when we're fishing around camp. When we go on our boat, we usually don't try fishing there, but sometimes we fish the edges before making a run towards clear lake oaks area. Oh and towards the mouth of Kelsey Slough there are vegetation mats on the other bank. Try a frog on that. A fish blew up on it last time i was there. Always try a frog on that lake. Last time, we were in a cold front, but we fished all the vegetation between docks and docks in the super gigantic rich house areas, and i still managed 2 blow ups in an hour. Would have kept throwin it but we left to go eat lunch and wanted to come back but the waves were tsunamis so that didnt work :-/. I also was crankin a red eye shad over the tops of weed lines and i had one follow it, but i didn't stick with it very long. I understand the lake just had a bad bad shad die off a while back, but they still eat it (or atleast try to)
  7. I don't like fishing pedro, and i don't like fishing mcclure. So usualy that means we pick from the delta or melones, and when there's a hot bite at melones, they come
  8. Thats not it.they fish the same freakin lakes all the time.Honestly, alot of tournament fisherman have a lot of bad ethics. Theres been alot of times where we have been fishing a piling or something and they just pull up right in front of you and start fishing like its nothing and okay. It just gets irritating how many lakes there are to fish but they pick the same ones over and over again
  9. like dont get me wrong i like tournaments but sometimes its just overwhelming. I dont care if its on the delta because thats 1000 miles of waterways to fish but on the lakes it gets a bit stressful when you idle into one of your holes an theres already someone in there, and theres a guy on every point
  10. Okay we are planning to go to the Delta tomorrow and the New Melones Sunday. Well, i just found out they're having some pro am 60 boat tournament or something there tomorrow. And i must say that ticks me off. I'm sick and tired of these stupid tournaments where people will make 5000 dollars IF THEY WIN. They come to our lakes like once a month and totaly pound it and add 3 tons of fishing pressure and fish out all the spots and the fish get on a tougher bite for a week or two. I mean seriously come on?This happens to me all the time.We will find out Melones or Pedro is on fire and whoops oh wait another stupid PRO AM TOURNAMENT. Seriously give the lakes a break. They fish the same ones way too much. I understand bassmaster and flw because those peoples lives depend on their tournaments and they fish 8 to 15 tournaments A YEAR and theyre usualy all different bodies of water, and i understand the little turkey shoots with about a dozen boats to just go have a little fun with petty cash for the winner. These tournaments don't really hurt anything. But these Pro Ams are ridiculous. It's basically gambling. These tournaments are not their jobs and there's about 80 boats per tournament and they fish a bunch a year and they pound the same lakes about 10 times a year and just completely raid it. I'm sorry i know this is an outburst and no offense to any Pro Am fisherman but i just get so irritated. Atleast change your guy's schedule up a little so your not on just 3 different lakes a year out of 30 tournaments. And I also understand these tournaments can help you towards professional circuits too but its just ridiculous sometimes how It's always on the same lakes a bunch of times it one year. I would like to hear some people's thoughts on this
  11. i caught a 7 pounder from a pond with a blind eye
  12. Very closely resembles this http://binil.org/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/howitworks.gif
  13. Wait wait wait....you have friends?
  14. We were fishing in a canoe down our local river and i somehow managed to catch a rock lol
  15. Mid spring to early summer for largemouth for me
  16. I heard he was grounded and almost didnt get to go
  17. Hahaha his arm is like straining to hold it. I seriously would have never expected that to come out of melones. we used to fish it all the time and the biggest bass ive ever caught out of there is probably a 3 pounder
  18. My grandpa just called and told me that someone just caught an 18.71 POUND LARGEMOUTH from a local lake called New Melones which is about 45 min away from us. The guy got snapped off on a drop shot rig and he threw a jig out and it grabbed it. The fish is now the new lake record and is THE BIGGEST BASS EVER CAUGHT IN A TOURNAMENT IN THE WHOLE ENTIRE NATION.I would never have expected that from melones its not exactly a big fish lake even know its good for numbers.Wow, thats just....whoa
  19. sounds like those smallies need a HOT SHOWR!
  20. Dude we have the crappiest fishing weather out here right now or well atleast we did during the tournament and the bag was still 76 pounds son
  21. Omg who keeps asking this numbers or size questions GO FOR BOTH lol
  22. It really depends on what situation you're fishing. They both work well in stained or murky water, but sometimes the bass prefer the flash of a spinnerbait or can see it better or other times they would hit the shallow crankbait because of the noise (assuming it has ratttles in it) or on somedays they'll eat them both up.
  23. Cuz it's freakin amazing thats why
