Ike #6 Hated Athlete
Ike is one of the kindest most approachable pro's I have ever met. I met him at Bassmaster U and he is something else man . He treated me and everyone else who was there with respect and he stayed after to sign more autographs and to answer more questions. Ike is a great angler and a great role model.

Going to Bassmaster U?
Believe me Keepin_it_Reel, I went last weekend and it was the best fishing related experience of my life. I learned so many "pro's secrets" and little tricks to immensly improve my fishing, and if you find that you didn't get much learning out of it just meeting and talking to all the pro's is really cool in itself. I can e-mail you my BMU notes to show you the in-depthness of this course if you want me to.

Are BIG Bass Smart?
I personally believe that big bass aren't only smarter than little bass they also have sharper instincts. Many biologists and pro anglers have come to a conclusion that yes bass, even smaller ones, can learn to avoid a certain lure or color.

Pitching
Pitching is a technique used when heavy cover and shallow water are present. You do it by holding the bait in your hand with the rod held next to you, now raise the rod up to about the top of your head with the rod tip pointing straight out. Now drop the bait out of your hand and dip the rod tip down, then when the bait is falling away from you flick the rod tip up to send the bait flying, with a quick flip of the wrist. This might take a little practice but once you've mastered it you will quickly find many situations that demand pitching. Around here its a combination of both, the bas spawn naturally and the Game and Fish department takes surveys every year to see if stocking is needed.

Night Fishing
I LOVE nightfishing in the summer round here. I use mostly black buzzbaits and black spinnerbaits with huge colorado blades. But the ultimate nightbait is a big black arbogast jitterbug. This bait is old as dirt and still catching monsters for me http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.TextId?hvarTextId=1694&hvarTarget=search&cmCat=SearchResults

I'M BACK!!!
Just got back from Hampton yesterday, I was at Bassmaster University. Let me tell you I was completely blown away by the whole deal. I got to meet and talk to guys like KVD, Ike, Woo Daves, Jimmy Houston, Gary Klein, and Randy Howell. I was amazed at how approachable these guys were. For example, I walked outside for a second during one of Klein's seminars and KVD and Ike were out there talking. So I went up, said hi, and got to sit down and talk fishing with 'em for like 20 minutes. They treated me, a 15 year old kid, with the utmost respect and I enjoyed every second of it. Now the actual seminars were something else, I have at least 11 pages of notes front and back. I learned so many things its insane. And these guys are very entertaining during their seminars. Got to sit in the front center row both days . The real fun was all the free stuff, at least $75 worth of it, hard baits, soft-plastics, line, BPS discount cards, it was just awesome. And Gary Klein actually gave me an authorized Quantum Pro-staff discount card for all the new Quantum PT products, that's a 40% discount!!! . After meeting and talking to these guys I realize that they are very nice and down to earth guys who are just like you and me. And Ike actually did a little break-dancin show for us Sorry I don't have the all the pictures on my pc yet but I will get them ASAP. Sorry also for the long post, I am just so pumped up after getting to meet all my heroes.

timely advise needed
I'm not to familiar with smallies seasonal patterns but I'm gonna have to say...DROP-SHOT ...Try small worms and tiny flukes in shad colors on offshore structure, rock piles, humps, ledges, etc. Also a small finesse or hair jig in a natural crawfish color bounced and crawled along drop-offs and clay-banks.
-
are old tree stumps productive?
Old gnarled stumps+mud flat=bass heaven Pitch a jig or tube to 'em and throw shallow square-bill cb's in the spring, in the summer try a buzzbait or jig around 'em, and in the fall try burning a lipless cb and throwing topwater stick baits like sammy's.
-
Need help fishing a reservoir!
Golden shiner a.k.a. "roach minnow"...I would try a drop-shot rig with a small 4 inch finesse worm or shad type bait. Also, have you tried live bait fishing? We use shiners over here to catch some of the biggest bass in summer and winter.

Best Time to use Chartueuse
I have yet to find a situation where chart. won't catch'em, even in ultraclear water. Chart. is my staple spinnerbait color and I use a lot of chart./black back crankbaits, the only bait I don't ever use chart. is on soft plastics, I tend to use more natural colors for those.

bass cams online?
I know the VA dgif has a live webcam of a fish ladder, but I've never actually seen it.

Schooled By D.B.
I actually really liked loudmouth bass, the E3 tournaments were pretty cool and Mark Zona and Jay Kumar were hilarious together, all those skits and stuff they did on the show man those were funny. I am very sorry to see such a fresh great new show that offers a different insight into the world of bass fishing get axed.

Cool idea
Those thongs look freakishly awesome!!!...I bet those froghead ones would be killer on bass around here.
-
Cool idea
Maybe I could market mine as the Canadian Bacon Rind <groan>

Cool idea
I came up with 2 pretty good ideas for soft-baits that as far as I know nobody makes. The first one is a trick worm with a small twin-tail molded onto the rear to give it a little more action when finesse fishing in stained water. The second one is a super hog with the tail from a GYCB grub on the rear instead of pinchers, since the grub tail is oversized and really soft it moves a lot of water. Plus the colors blend perfectly, the super hog is watermelon/red whil the grub tail is pumpkin/orange and when the sun hits it man it is the best lookin color I've ever seen. Tell me if you like 'em.

School paper
The effects of invasive species on native wildlife, I did a paper on something like this not to long ago, you could do it on things like zebra mussels, gobies, snakeheads.

Fishing on the Edge (Iaconelli)
I loved his book. It was an entertaining insight into the life of a tournament angler. He goes in-depth and explains all of the demands and rewards of being a successful angler, but still manages to entertain you with funny stories and comments.

spawning bass question
In the early stages of the spawn when the female is dropping her eggs the male female both protect the nest but after the female drops her eggs she only stays by for a little while and then she leaves. This is the way the bass used to act in my lake so it could be different from place to place.

Bassmaster U. - Who would you pick to see?
I'd go with #1 since I'm already going to be able to meet KVD, not that I'm trying to brag or anything , I'm going to the Bassmaster U in Hampton VA. The presenters are KVD, Ike, Jimmy Houston, Gary Klein, George Cochran, and there's a few more I can't remember right now.
