Sunline Fx2!!

I'm starting to get kinda sick of watching those guys toss shaky heads and catch 12 inchers off docks. I feel like they're not really showcasing much skill. It's practically the same episode over and over. Don't downsize! Go for the bigguns!

I love both and need both in my boat at all times. You can't go wrong with either but I would highly recommend buying both!

I'm a big fan of glass or composite for those baits. I use a 7ft H glass rod with 17 to 20lb flouro. Works really great for me. Your setup would definitely work fine, just giving another opinion.

The Shimano Zodias was meant for that reel!. I have a Chronarch on the 6'10 mh. Match made in heaven.

Grass fishing is my jam. I look for mixtures of 2 or more types, hard structure in or around grass, and subtle depth changes. Fishing acres of grass beds is tiring and can mess with your confidence but if you stick with it, it can be very rewarding. I'm flipping 95% of the time, frogging the other 5%.

You could always ask where everyone sinks their brush piles! lol

You don't think inactive bass will strike out of reaction or instinct?

That's the only way I can force myself to try anything new...leave the shallow stuff home! 1 or 2 different deep water techniques outta time I'd say. That's me anyway. I like to get really good at a certain technique before I move to the next.

I've always used a palomar with fireline. Worked great for me.

While I'm not a fan of frogging with spinning tackle, I do have a friend that is. He uses a medium heavy mojo with 30lb braid. He doesn't seem to have any problems.

I would think just the opposite. It seems to me that when fish are actively feeding, it doesn't really matter what gets thrown as long as its in the column of water the fish are feeding in. I can't imagine you would see a difference in what color bait is working since, most likely in an active fish situation, all colors are working. To me, it's during the tough bite that you'd want to be more precise with your bait selection.

I'm curious to know how many times you tried those combos under similar conditions and had the same result. What I've come to understand about anglers, myself included, is that once we get bit on a particular bait, we'll often continue using it every time we hit the water. This is why I'm skeptical on the importance of color. Once we have success on one thing, we'll use it more and ultimately catch more fish with it. But is it really because of the size, action, the color? Or is it just because we had that success and now use it more than anything else? My hat's off to you if you have tested that several times under similar conditions. I know I would have a hard time trying X when I've had success with Y!

My go to bait is a jig. My big fish bait is a jig. Not a finesse jig....a big, heavy jig, with a big trailer.

Was the smaller spot dead? Can't cull a dead fish. That's my best guess.

It certainly isn't their responsibility to replace your rod for free if you break it accidentally, but is it so wrong for them to offer a replacement for your $200+ rod at a discounted rate? I think it actually helps these companies maintain a loyal customer base. I only fish brands that have flat fee replacements for broken rods. Can't afford not to with how much I fish and how much money I put back into the sport.

Shimano's new warranty isn't terrible. You can pay a replacement fee of 50% off retail for a new rod. Fast and free shipping too. When you look at every other replacement plan, they all seem to run around $50 to $60 for the fee plus $15-$20 return shipping. Not much of a difference.

If I don't catch over 20 a day up in Northern NY it's not that great. That's 20 legal sized bass of 12 inches or larger as I don't count anything under that. I also spend 99% of my time throwing big jigs, frogs, and bladed jigs which always get me the biggest bites. I tend to fish every day like it's a tournament, looking for at least a 15lb sack of largemouth or 18-20lb sack of smallmouth since those weights will put you in the top 3 on most of the bodies I fish.

For me, the baits/techniques I use dictate what size line I use. That being said, I tend to use heavier line than most (heavier than I probably need to). 16 to 20lb fluorocarbon and 50 to 60lb braid are on 3/4 of my rigs. I flip, pitch, and frog most of the time though so those line sizes are "necessary". If you tie solid knots and make sure your line doesn't get frayed you will be fine with much lighter line. I've been pleasantly surprised by how strong 10 and 12lb line can be.
