  1. I know what you mean. I have been caught on the lake when a thunder storm came out of nowhere. I carry a handheld VHF radio in the boat. It has the weather station on it & will beep me when the weather is changeing so I can get the update. Most of the guides carry them & have base stations so if I get in trouble & have to get to safty in a hurry I can let someone know where I am at. They are a good investment. If you fish on big water don't leave home without one.
  2. I agree with Road Warrior. I do keep a bar of soap in the boat in case I need a bath or have to wash my hands. Mudfish, Catfish, & Jackfish will hit your lures & after handling one of them I'll wash my hands. They are a enemy of the bass. If fishing in heavy weeds I'll spray on some fish formula to help slide thru the weeds. I wonder if that helps but they say it does. I can not tell the differance.
  3. I fish on Santee Cooper in South Carolina & can do so all year long. Lures & presentation change just like any other lake. I try to fish 3 to 4 days a week. Like Nick I retired to go fishing. I don't tx. fish anymore because I threw my alarm clock away. I get up when I wake up. I don't have a train to catch. I fish for Largemouth all year & in late summer early fall chase stripers some.
  4. I thought the centerfold was either J.T or the Roadwarrior ;D lol
  5. I use a hand operated Minn Kota 74# trolling motor. I have a handle extenison so I can steer it with my knee. A power button on each side of the deck to run the motor. Both my feet are flat on the deck, my hands are free to fish & I have never had a broken steering cable. My feet or back does not hurt at the end of the day which is a big plus.
  6. J.T. must be pretty smart. I own 6 or 7 Curado's & they are good. Pflueger just came out with a left handed President & I bought a couple. This reel is very smooth I can pitch it further than I can cast my Curado. It's a 10 bearing reel for $10. more. The Pflueger is the way to go.
  7. I have had both. I use hand operated this way I have no cable problems. I had a motorguide brute (41#) on a 158v Ranger & it worked fine. I have a Minn Kota (74#) on a Ranger185vs now & it works fine. The Minn Kota is much better in the grass.
