  1. Someone stole the cap that manually releases the brakes and covers the brake reservoir on my Ranger Trail trailer today at the lake. I mean come on. Anyone have one lying around for a late 90's trailer?
  2. Try a slider spider head 3/16, my son was flippin holes in some shallow pads on a pond with this setup yesterday and it was working pretty good. If you need a heavier hook, maybe a 1/0 with a hitch hiker to keep the bait in place better.
  3. Baby 1- #1 Bandit #2
  4. Custom 1/4 wire guard football jig in brown orange.
  5. Thanks, I was looking at those also. Decisions.
  6. Thanks, I was really interested in the way the hook works. I was catching fish on a fluke yesterday, but after a few casts it was riding down the hook. I think I'll try some skip gaps.
  7. 3 questions, actually... Anybody like the Keitech Swing Impacts? Do you just rig them on a wide gap tx style, like a fluke? And finally, how about the Gamagatsu Skip Gap hooks? Thanks.
  8. They've been around a long time. Great slop bait, like Crestliner said. Good hook up rate also. I likr the black w/ chart. tail.
  9. Thanks for the reply. I'll post how I do.
  10. Anyone have any info? Looking to go tomorrow. Anything would be helpful. Thanks, Dominic
  11. Definitely grubs. I like twin tails better, but singles also work well.
  12. I think having confidence in a lure or tactic makes you fish that way or the specific lure more, which in turn gets more bites.
  13. Candlewood had some fish on beds last week. We had a beautiful 8.5 largie weighed in during the tournament.
  14. Those look real nice. If they work like the fluke, you can't go wrong. I don't see why they wouldn't be good.
  15. Those are nice. They are fished more like a traditional jig though. A true hair jig, maribou or bucktail, I feel is a more cold water bait. Here in the Northeast I fish them from ice out until the spawn, then they go away until late fall. Hair jigs to me are a more finesse approach for rock, rock flats, ponts and some deep fishing. Skirted jigs are an all year jig for heavier structure and cover, grass, wood, etc.
  16. Thanks for the replies and pm's.
  17. Fished a 2 day club tourn. on Candlewood, thurs and fri. Fishing was pretty good. Had about 10-12 bass per day, mixed large and smallmouth. Most our fish came on hair jigs and football jigs in 15' or less. Bigger fish were deeper, 2 lbers were all over the flats. We only weighed in 22 kvd for 2 days. Winner had 32, but one was an 8.5 largie. Trying to get to Zoar this weekend. Hope this helps.
  18. Hey guys, My son and I will be in Fla. at a hockey tournament in May. Are there any good bass guides between Miami and Fort Myers? Looking for licensed, references, etc. and preferably lure fishing. The boy don't like bait fishing. Probably looking for 1/2 or 3/4 day. Thanks.
  19. 1/4 football jig or a spinnerbait.
  20. 1/2 oz. Tungsten wt. Pegged, 4/0 wide gap hook and a rattle. Pitch to holes in the thick grass. Let it hit bottom lift 4-6" and jiggle it. If nothing take it out a pitch to another area
  21. 15 for me also, great stuff. Go green. I also use 12 and sometimes 20 in real heavy stuff.
  22. I'll let you know Friday night. I have a two day tournament on Candlewood, Thurs. and Fri. and another on Lillinonah on Sunday. It will hopefully be a good week.
  23. I do sometime use a heavy jig with a skirt, but the last few years plastics have been more consistent. Creature baits (I like the brush hog) with a 1/2 - 1 oz. tungsten weight and a rattle seem to be the way to go. It doesn't hurt to use both until you find what they like best.
  24. I agree going with custom ones. I've been using my own for 15 yrs. I started selling them about 6 years ago. People want quality baits for a price they don't mind losing to the rocks and wood. You can get high quality jig for 1.75 as opposed to 3-5. Besides, it's nice catching fish on your own stuff.
