  1. Bomber Salt A - Chicken Scratch (yellowish white) MirroLure Pop A Dog - Bone color In the NE thes are the only 2 you need.
  2. I use both. I mostly use the wire guards around some kind of shallower cover, as the ones I use are 1/8 oz. I really like them for docks. Never really tried them in the thick weeds, but in sparse or scattered grass they work well. I mostly pitch fiber guard jigs in holes in the grass and around deeper cover and grass lines.
  3. I fished with guides in Florida twice. Once in the salt, once in the Everglades for bass. On the saltwater trip we wanted artificials and fished bait. Was told the same thing you were, they're not hitting lures. I just recently got back from the Everglades and that trip was totally different. The guide had everything mapped out before hand. No bait, meant no bait. He had all the tackle that was needed and was even in the tackle shop we met at buying some extra baits he was catching on. It's ok to take your own stuff, but probably not necessary. Just make sure he knows what you expect from the trip. Good luck and have fun.
  4. Asst of worm wts (1/8-1/2) and hooks (Wide Gap 1/0-4/0) Asst of 7" worms, I like Berkley (blk, red shad, blue fleck) Asst of 4" worms, I like Luck E Strike Razors (blk, grn pump) 1/4 and 1/2 grass jigs 1/8-1/2 footballs Couple of buzzbaits and spinnerbaits.1/4 and 3/8 for now. Definitely a popper or two. A couple of crankbaits for various depths. I like Bandits. Just my .02 though. I forgot the Senkos, DON'T, 4" blk blue flk and watermelon
  5. Same tee shirt, sweatshirt, shorts and hat. I have a matching set for 2 day tournaments. Plus I've kept 2 small toys in my boat that the kids brought on when they were real little. They've been in the tackle locker for 9 years.
  6. Thanks for the info. I ordered some star flash skirts to try out. Probably not what I'm looking for though. They always seem to do away with the good stuff.
  7. I normally use some sort of split tail trailer, but I also like stright tail worms and even twin tail grubs sometimes. I very rarely use a trailer hook. I'll probably start though. I had some fish come off and hit the spinnerbait short the other day.
  8. I prefer J style w/ a flat eye. I never had any problems, so why change. I guess its all what you prefer. My son's been using some 1/32 oz. big bite jigheads w/ a megabite style hook and seems to be hooking fish pretty good on them. All the other tiny heads come with real small hooks, so I can see how this would be an advantage in this situation. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but I think it's just preference.
  9. Thanks. How about Starflash, it seems to have similiar qualities?
  10. Welcome from NY, but way below Rochester.
  11. If your fishing mat with some holes, I'd go with a 1/2 to 3/4 tungsten bullet weight, heavy duty WG hook and a creature type bait w/ rattle in it. I like the brush hog. I peg with toothpicks, but wieghts with the screw wire work well also. A jig of the same size will also work, its probably not as thick once you get through. Let the bait hit the bottom, lift a few inches, twitch it and pay attention to the bait, a lot of times they won't kill it.
  12. 1/2oz. tungsten bullet weight, heavy wire offset worm hook, a toothpick, glass rattle and brush hog. Pitch or flip to any holes, let the bait hit the bottom, lift a few inches and shake it. Reel in and repeat as necessary. If all else fails read the post above mine.
  13. Thanks, I'll check it out. Dom
  14. Anyone know where to get the hydro silk skirt material, or possibly buy skirts. Also, is Starflash close to the same product. Thanks. Dominic
  15. If the fish are located under docks and you can't skip a bait, I'd say presentation was really important. Now once you get it under there, will they hit it? It depends on the bait, color and presentation. Yes, I think it's very important. But.... I'd rather be lucky. ;D
  16. 1. Yes 2. Possibly a small membership fee 3. It's never too late 4. Do what fishfordollars says, he hit the nail on the head
  17. Culprit used to make a 4" straight tail worm that was very good. It's bad enough I can't get these anymore, but they also had a color "chocolate mint" that caught when others didn't.
  18. I was in the Everglades a few weeks ago and we were fishing 12-16" worms, eithe with a small 1/8-1/4 bullet wieght or no weight at all. We would cast to the edges and drag the worms across the thick stuff and then let them fall slowly down the drops. We caught some nice fish doing this. I've normally only fish 7" or smaller, so this was something new. It was a lot of fun.
  19. Try Bass Pro, I was in one of the stores last week and saw a few on the racks.
  20. Voted plastics, but a jig comes a real, real close 2nd.
  21. 1/4 oz jigs (brown orange and all black) 3/16 slider spider heads 4" finesse worms (green pumpkin and blue fleck) asst. bullet weights and hooks brush hogs (green pumpkin) senkos (4" watermelon and blk blue flake) popr buzzbait (1/4 all white) 7" blk power worm 1/4 and 1/2 football heads yamamoto double tail hula grub (green pumpkin) bandit cranks keitech swing impacts (pearl) up to $100 worth
  22. Hopkins Shorty, drop to bottom, lift a few feet and let fall on a relatively tight line. I've been using silver buddy type lures as an alternative for deeper fishing with some very ggod results also.
  23. Dave, Thats the problem. I put the card in and none of the buttons will do anything. With out the card in everything is fine. I'm just wondering that maybe its not compatable with the older unit. The card is an fhs pro east premium, maybr I need an older version?
  24. Thanks, I'll check it out. Tried what the book said, but it seems the unit is not reading the sd card. Could this card be too new for the unit? I even made sure the unit had all the down loadable updates.
