  1. There is a used wilderness system 115 for sale nearby for $900 but I do not know if tht is a good price or if that is a kayak that will meet my needs.
  2. I have a cheap kayak Chute 98 and it is not the right kayak for what I am doing. I am looking for a kayak to fish out of. I will be using this on pickwick lake in some back waters. I need a kayak that is capable of tracking well upstream and stable enough to deal with some chop and waves. I have access to a lake lot so I am not worried about having to carry the kayak far. I would like one capable of covering quite bit of distance on the water. Really don't want to spend more than $500-$600. Thanks
  3. Should have clarified. Silver buddy style blade bait. What is a good hook in the mustad brand?I plan on ordering 100 of them from Captain hooks to use on my vertical jigging spoons as well.
  4. I have the mold to make vibrating lure. I have the insert to make a 1/2 and 3/4. What size hooks do I need? I would like to buy a bunch of hooks so I need a hook that is budget friendly. Thanks
  5. I have been using 65 lb braid with arigs since they came out. I am wanting to try something else to see how I like it. I know a lot of swimbait guys like pline cxx. Should I go with the clear or moss green? Is there another line that others are using other than braid?
  6. Is the processor speed on these able to handle the Lakemaster maps? I have an older 798 and when I zoom in it takes about 30 seconds per zoom level with the new lakemaster map.
  7. I completely understand that there is more to this than gear. However, for my skill level the gear I am using is not correct. Got to change something. Can't automatically change my skill level without putting in more time with the jigging spoon. Don't want to waste time using wrong gear. I will be switching to a moderate action as WRB suggested and see if it results in better hook ups. Thanks for all the replies.
  8. Lost the small mouth this weekend by the boat.
  9. I have lost two of the biggest smallmouth of my life this year on the spoon. I am going to switch rods and see if my catch ratio improves. Which of my following set ups would be ideal? 1: st. Croix mojo 7' m fast action. It is rated for plastics but I do not use it for that. It feels more like a MH. 2: Allstar 6'6" medium. Has a lot of bend. 3: powell diesel 723 med heavy ex fast 4: falcon Bucco bcc 7-17 heavy 5: all star classic TWS 6'6" I have others but I think they will be too much. Thanks for all the help.
  10. I am using a 7' Heavy falcon Bucco Bcc-6-17. It is rated for 3/8 on up. It feels more like a medium heavy. Not sure the rod is wrong but I am losing too many fish. I don't lose this many fish on other techniques. Do the jigging spoons with a single hook get hung up less? More? Does catch ratio improve? Thanks
  11. I have been fishing jigging spoons with a lot of success. However, I am losing too many fish because of my rod choice. What type of action is best for jigging spoon? I am using 1/2 oz war eagle spoon the majority of time. I don't need a new rod in am just trying to pair it with what I currently have. Thanks

If you don't mind why they look like try some Vibram five fingers KSO. They look like gorilla feet but they are like going barefoot minus getting stuff on your feet. I bought some a few years back to do athletic training. They are expensive just for water shoes. Be prepared for plenty of looks and comments though.
  13. These are crankbaits that I do not use in winter. They are all dry. However, Biggest problem I have is when there is a Strike king crankbait with a hook that starts to rust and it just spreads. If I catch it early I remove that hook but sometimes I miss one. I will try some of those packs. Thanks
  14. I am trying to organize all of my hard baits. I putting most of them up for storage because I only use certain things for winter fishing. If I spray inside if each plano 3700 box with wd40, will it prevent rust? Do not want to lose money on good tackle. Thanks
  15. I like to throw it when water temp gets below 60. I throw it until water gets back above 60.
  16. I wear BPS 100 mph suit over my regular clothes in Alabama. It keeps you warm. It was the best purchase I made. I would give up my SI unit before giving up 100 mph suit.
  17. I purchased an elite 7 hdi unit to put on the front of the boat. I purchased from a friend who won the unit in a tournament. I was reluctant to buy it because I am a humminbird guy. He sold me the unit at a great price. Since using the unit I have really liked the unit. The sonar and down scan does a great job. I am able to mark fish and catch those fish if the fish are set up on the structure the way I like. Recently I was asking about a Navionics card for this unit. I thought I was going to buy the Navionics + card, however, I purchased a Navionics Premium card. I wanted to have a good Map so I can sit on a certain spot offshore. In the past I have just turned my humminbird around and use it. However, having a unit up front is the way to go. The Problem: Since installing the Navionics card the unit takes forever to load the map when I zoom in. If I zoom from 0.5 mile to 0.1 mile it takes about 5 seconds to load the map. The time increases as I zoom in. If I zoom down to 50 feet it takes 30 seconds to load the map. If I zoom all the way in to 30 feet scale it takes 32 seconds to load. I like the zoom to be pretty close if I am fishing offshore and trying to stay on a waypoint or at least close. It did not do this without the card installed. I also put the navionics card in my Humminbird 798 and increased the zoom all the way in. It took less than 2 seconds on each zoom level. I was checking to see if my card might be bad. I even took an old 2010 card and put it in my Lowrance to see if it would load faster. However, it still takes forever to load. Is this a processor issue? Software issue? I do have the 3.0 update on the Elite 7. Is there something else I can check before I contact Lowrance? Thanks
  18. I am looking for a very inexpensive spinning rod. I do not use one that often and I do not want to spend a lot of money. I plan on using this rod with shakey heads and light texas rigs with 8lb test line. Right now I am using a 7' medium Mojo St. Croix and I feel like I am not getting a good hook set. Would the Academy 6'10" medium heavy be a good setup? Thanks
  19. Thanks. I think I could use that feature so I will purchase navionics+ this weekend.
  20. Found the difference after looking at website. He might not want GPS capabilities now but I would suggest for him to spend the little extra money and get the gps. I think he will want the GPS capabilities once he uses the GPS. Just my 0.02. Good Luck
  21. I have an Elite 7 HDI mounted to my trolling motor. It is a very large transducer. I actually installed a transducer shield because I am always running the trolling motor into stumps and other object when fishing shallow. Not sure if there is a difference in Elite 7 HDI and Elite 7X HDI.
  22. Is the Navionics Sonar charts available on the premium or just platinum? If it is only available on the platinum I think I would be better buying Navionics+.
  23. I have the same problem. There is no way to trust my gauge. What I have went to is just putting enough for a trip I might make. If I think I need more gas, I have 2 dedicated 6 gallon cans that I fill up and just add using the cans. Sometimes I go to the store without my boat and just carry the cans a couple of days before hand. I use non ethanol and not many places to get it.
