  3. I ran a long shaft motor on a short shaft boat for years with out issue. Can you swap the lower units between motors?
  4. I also where the light weight convertable pants and shirt when kayak fishing. I may look like a goof but I also burn easily and hate the feeling of suntan lotion. I have different pairs. some by remington and others by Koppen
  5. I needed to repair a piece of carpet on my boat. I found this guy on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/sch/4247don/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=25&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2654 the piece I got, jasmine, matched perfectly.
  6. I think Missouri is a state that has personal property tax. They need to keep track of what you own so you can pay the tax on it every year.

  8. I have never heard of a lake with a length limit. HP yes, length no. My boat is a 16' model but is measures 16.5'.
  9. I have a bottom line fishin buddy 4200. It works really well. http://www.gps-info.com.ua/wp-content/downloads/manuals/kart_echo/bottom_line/manual_fb_4200.pdf
  10. I noticed, as well, the water in the foot wells pools toward the seat and not the scupper holes. Perhaps my boat is tail heavy too.
  11. The new scupper plugs are really nice. They let water out but not in.
  12. I meant how do you use the rudder. To Steer? to counter act the wind? Does it help to keep the boat from turning when the wind blows?
  13. How do you like the rudder? How do you use it? I was thinking about getting one. in the pic with the kiddies. How did you get is so dirty? was it sitting outside? Is is it hard for you to get rods out of those front rod holders?

  15. A crate will fit in the back. No scupper plugs. Plenty of room for a fish finder the one scupper hole will accept a transducer and it will be protected. Mine came with the basic OK seat. It handles nice and is very stable. I can sit sideways with my feet in the water and fish. I can also spin around to get stuff from the back. You would be able to stand in it. I put a center hatch in and it makes the kayak much more useable. It is heavy 70lbs. Not something you want to put on the roof of an SUV. I have wheels to move mine around. If you come up to the Philadelphia area I'll let you try it.
  16. I have had for the last three years. I like it a lot. It is a bit heavy on land on the water it is great. What would you like to know?
  17. I would check with your local shop to see if they have ones you can try. I have a 40HP on a 16' boat as well. If I am by myself a 17" works great. a 15" works much better with more than one person. Yes I do switch depending on the load I am taking that day.
  18. I do not know why people are giving pelican kayaks a bad rap. I have one and a friend of mine has one. Both are Apex 100s They are great little Kayaks. We go them at BJ's for $299 with a paddle and rod holders. They are very light, easy to carry, stable and paddle nice. We have caught many fish out of them. I will say the seat sucks because the one that came with ours was just a back. I like my OK kayak because it is two feet longer and has a lot more storage. But it is 30LBs heavier than the pelican. The pelican is nice because it it 30lbs lighter and 2 ft shorter and I can just toss in the back of the SUV for a quick trip after work. Once I put a hatch in the center it will have plenty of storage. I made the same mod to my OK and the kayak is much more usable. Please do not take the pelican out of your selection process. As others have said seat time will tell you a lot. Take a look at this one also http://www.pelicansport.com/index.php?language=en&category=kayaks&nauticalboat=KOA11P101
  19. DO you have a hitch on your truck? If so, this will work. http://www.harborfreight.com/truck-bed-extender-69650.html or this http://www.harborfreight.com/600-lb-capacity-boat-trailer-with-8-inch-wheels-and-tires-5002.html does the truck have a step bumper and no hitch. http://www.harborfreight.com/5000-lb-step-bumper-receiver-69670.html
  20. Gotta watch the second episode.
  21. The Walking Dead. Everything else is just noise.
  22. I would never try to put my 70lb kayak on the roof rack of my SUV. I used a trailer for it since day one. I went to the store with the trailer when I bought it. Towing a trailer is easy after you have practiced. Go to an empty lot and practice, practice and practice some more. The only issue I have is when I back down a ramp I lose sight if the trailer, so I rarely do it. Those malone trailers are costly. You can find a cheap trailers on craigs list or Harbor Freight. They are easy to modify if want to carry more than one.
  23. I would get a group 24 walmart battery. http://www.walmart.com/ip/EverStart-24MS-6-Marine-Battery/16782694 this will serve you well for your planned purpose. You do not want to use a tractor battery, you can, they are not designed for deep discharge like a deep cycle battery. How deep will you discharge it during your use? Who knows? If you were just running lights I would say spend the $25 make sure you charge it when you're done. Since you are running a bilge pump to empty your potentially sinking boat. Go with the group 24 and make sure you charge when you get home.
  24. Thanks for the part# I will be getting some.
