  1. my livewell only has a freshwater in as well. there is no plug, but a tube that that goes into a hole in the bottom that only allows it to fill 7/8ths of the way. I just keep it running and it always has fresh water. I do not understand why anyone would just recirculate the same water?
  2. Why wouldn't you just leave the fresh water pump run all the time?
  3. Had to make modifications to the trailer. Had an Incident on Saturday. Plus the "J" Brackets would spin on the pipe when empty.
  4. Yes. I said that here. Power, watts, is not constant. It is a result of P=E*I. so if voltage or current drops so does wattage.
  5. Not sure if I Can agree with this. I=E/R. I=Current, E=Voltage, R=Resistance. a .5 ohm load, say a motor, will draw 48 amps at 24 volt supply. That same .5 ohm load will draw 24 amps at 12 volts. So the lower the voltage the less current. This is how the 5 speed motors work they send different voltages to the motor to give you different speeds. The slower the speed the lower voltage to the motor and current. Power, watts, is not constant. It is a result of P=E*I. so if voltage or current drops so does wattage. Usually what burns out a motor is it over heats from turning too slow because the fan is turning too slow to cool it. A faulty breaker will cause nusiance triping.
  6. I have the pelican apex 100. the same but different. it is a very light and stable kayak works very well,
  7. Here is a fully loaded picture. took the trailer on a 400 mile round trip over the 4th weekend. It perfomed flawlessly. Well, there was one malfunction. every light on the trailer burned out after bouncing around on some of the dirt roads in Tioga county in PA. I switched them out to leds.
  8. Yes look at post 22 on the thread I posted above. pabassr made a similar modification to his trailer. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/117449-kayak-trailer-modifications/?p=1293962 see post 25 for a close up http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/117449-kayak-trailer-modifications/?p=1294243
  9. Edit to add. I reread the whole thread. You have thought of the "J" brackets. I never had someone steal mine. Knock on wood. even when left for 6 hours. How about something like this http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/117449-kayak-trailer-modifications/ Using these, you should be able to get them on your trailer. http://www.amazon.com/TMS-KAYAK-RK-J-1BOX-Universal-Carrier/dp/B003V57NUQ/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=1VVAF8GQHY0H2&coliid=I2HOXIY7TY818Q Here it is fully loaded Did a 300 mile round trip over the 4th weekend no issues what so ever.
  10. I have a 2000 Crestliner Angler 16 I bought new. Great boat on the lakes in Canada, the local rivers and the back bays in NJ for flounder.
  11. I bought carpet from this guy. The color matched my crestliner perfectly. http://www.ebay.com/sch/4247don/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=25&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2654
  12. Very easy to modify a trailer original trailer http://www.harborfreight.com/600-lb-capacity-boat-trailer-with-8-inch-wheels-and-tires-5002.html here it is modified. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/117449-kayak-trailer-modifications/
  13. Are you sure it is the overheat alarm? Does this motor have a VRO pump?
  14. The only light I use when night fishing are the NAV lights. I use a hat mounted UV led light when tying knots. The UV really makes the line glow and not flood the area with light. I like it as dark as possible when night fishing. Keeps the bugs down and keeps my night vision sharp.
  15. $700! yikes. I just stick an old ski pole through a scupper hole.
  16. I use this one. Has never let me down. Plus. It can saty out in the rain. http://www.marinco.com/en/2612a
  17. I would buy one piece of pipe long enough to do the job. Pipe is cheap an accident will not be.
  18. If you do. hook them in paralell. Each battery will provide half the current and you will get a longer run time than hooking up to one battery at a time and running it dead.
  19. I am sorry, I meant use the search function on this board. There are many topics about kayaks on here. A roof rack maybe tough. There is no way I could get my 70LB kayak on the roof of my SUV. The one time I tried to use the J hook bracket on the factory cross member it was too flimsy to support the kayak.
  20. You wont have much of a choice for a trailer and a kayak for under $500. I would look at craigs list to see to get a used kayak. The only thing I can suggest on big lakes, wear your life jacket. Use the search function you will find a lot of info about kayaks and kayak fishing.
  21. In some states, PA is one, you will need a non powered boat permit to use it at any state parks or state owned ramp. If you launch from anywhere else no permit needed. Check with your local boat police website.
  22. I have a Crestliner Angler 16. With a 25 HP on it. It will go 23MPH with two people and a lot of stuff in the boat. Those boats will be fine with a 25HP. I have two props a 15" for when I am by myself and a 13" if I bring someone.
  23. 10 AWG wire should only be fused at 30 amps. To use a 50 amp fuse you should really upgrade to 6AWG wire. The reason you my be blowing the 40amp fuses in the motor is drawing more current to make up for the voltage drop because you are using 10 AWG wire.
