Well if you watch MLF live, you can see locations, sometimes hear the water temp, etc. Local tourney guys seem to be a lot more tight lipped than some of the national guys who only fish a lake once a year. I mean, I don't know if you are going to get them to reveal 'everything' but it seems there is a lot revealed watching the livestream for the MLF tourneys...

Stupid question, I'm seeing a couple guys using some weird looking rod butts, a big baseball thing on the back of the rod. What is this for? Weight balance? Do you have a link to these? I'm not thinking I want these, just trying to understand some more.

Are the Dobyns jigs good? Is this the deal of the century, $1 jigs? I ordered some braid from TW, they warned me it would be at least a week shipping delay. I had them price match it to BPS (BPS was like 7 dollars cheaper, amazing! Was pretty happy for anyone buying braid...) Anyways, I'm frustrated with the TW lead times so I just ordered a pack of hooks on Amazon. My business is slowly sliding...

Suspended bass can always be tougher to catch. What is the water temp? What time of year? Do the fish look 'active' on the sonar, showing streaking? Chasing bait? Might be time to break out a night crawler just to see what kind of fish it is, even if it is a crappie they would probably bite it. A night crawler might be the answer for everyone trying to catch those fish that won't bite... however I'm sure even sometimes they dont want to bite that!

I feel like I have almost been doing this with a 1/8 ball head and a 2.8 Keitech retrieved very slowly... Seems CB came out with this many years ago before Keitechs were even on the market.

Haha I'm happy if its over 3 per hour for me, but my local lake is small and has lots of pressure. It never is easy. My local spotted bass lake sometimes provides a little better action. Anything over 10+ per hour is pretty dang good!

What a great day for you guys, once again! Gotta love those spotted bass, they seem to do so much better in the winter than the blacks! I always wondered how successful guys are with the dark sleeper out here in CA. Do you get lots of fish with it? I've wanted to buy one due to the weedless nature of it, but I keep hearing they are successful in the upper midwest due to the large goby populations. Are there a lot of gobies in the lake you fish, or do you just assume it mimics a little baitfish, etc? They are a sweet bait, maybe they just haven't caught on out west...

Very healthy fish! What water temps are you fishing? Lots of lakes down here are around 48-51. Ironic, I live local to those ponds and thought for awhile they were off limits?
