  1. Congrats to Josh. Unfortunately I'm out of the loop and haven't been following him religiously. Do we know / think he is totally relying on the forward facing to catch all these beasts? As for the rest of us, rest easy in running your own race. Don't always worry about the other guys like Josh. He's in a position where he's dedicated his life to fishing, and many of us others have non-fishing day jobs, wives, kids, etc. It's still fun to see what he's able to accomplish to let us know 'it can be done' haha
  2. Alright, someone was looking for the Garmin sonar !! UHD-73SV. Down to 449 I think if you use the 10% new customer signup. @reelChris I think who was looking for it. https://www.sportsmans.com/fishing-gear-supplies/marine-electronics/fish-finders/garmin-echomap-uhd-73sv-with-gt56uhd-tm-transducer-fish-finder/p/1635253?avad=55097_d257269ad&utm_source=avantlink&utm_medium=skimlinks.com&utm_campaign=Custom+Link
  3. Loving all the suggestions. The one scenario I'm thinking of is when I rig a leadhead onto a keitech swimbait. I wouldn't be able to put that back into the keitech plastic. Maybe getting a small bait bag would do the trick. Which one is this? Good idea, just lay them in flat. Would work in the interim for sure! Do you have any examples from TW about the hard boxes that have removable boxes instead of drawers?
  4. Funny story. At the top of this thread, it explicitly says:
  5. Hi guys, I use a tackle bag because I go on friends boats a lot, etc. This is what I currently have: https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-deluxe-fisherman-series-tackle-bag The current bag I have allows me to insert my plano boxes in vertically, from the top of the bag. The issue with this is some of my soft baits get kinked sideways and bent in the wrong way. Thus, I want a bag that has a front loading compartment, so I can put my plano boxes in 'flat' (horizontal). It looks like a bag like this would work: https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/ego-tackle-bag It seems like a lot of backpacks use the flat storage, but they are also more limited in storage. This is for a boat, so I don't need a 'backpack' setup. Do you have any other favorites? It seems 90% of bags allow boxes to be loaded vertically. Looking for recommendations!
  6. I love that you are incorporating rakuten, this is very smart! I only am showing 15% cash back myself in my rakuten account. Still pretty dang reputable!
  7. Thanks for all the help guys. I called dobyns direct and there doesn’t seem to be a good 6xd rod for a budget angler. The swimbait rods they said are too stiff. Champion or bust I guess. Likely going to go with another brand regretfully. Hopefully they make somethin in the fury line down the road.
  8. I called and they said the swimbait rods are twice as stiff as the crank rods. So that isn't going to work. If anything, they said to stick with a standard graphite rod or save up for a refurb in the champion series.
  9. Hi guys, I'm looking for a deep cranking rod to throw mostly things like a DD22 and 6XD. I don't want to spend a ton, so definitely on a budget. I was looking at the Dobyns Fred "Boom Boom" Roumbanis 803SB. It's rated as Moderate Fast for lures 3/8-2oz but made as a swimbait rod... I'm wondering if it will be moderate enough for the treble hook baits like 6XD. The rod seems to be designed first and foremost for swimbaits, so that is my concern. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-DOBROD.html?from=basres (on sale at Dobyns $100 off) Anyone have this rod by any chance? Thank you!
  10. I wonder why such a discount? Do they no longer like Fred? Were these rods not good or...?
  11. What exactly did you change to be 400% more effective? What exactly did you change to be 400% more effective? I'd love to learn more.
  12. TW site seems to be going in and out... heavy load i assume...
  13. WOWZA!!! GO GO GO!!!

  15. Looks like Cabelas/BP is clearing out old carbons: Lowrance HDS-9 Carbon Fishfinder GPS Chartplotter Combo $799.97 https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/lowrance-hds-9-carbon-fishfinder-gps-chartplotter-combo
  16. Thanks Glenn. For what it's worth, I have been to Eric Huff's tackle shop he owns and is a well respected shop in the California area.
  17. Glad everything worked out. You may consider a satellite connection device when out of cellular reach. Check out Garmin inReach, Zoleo, or SPOT Messenger. Can save your life.
  18. A-Jay, looks like a fantastic trip. Despite the issues with the camera, I'd say a 34 min video is still great coverage, looks like a lot of fun catches! Thanks for sharing and posting the report, detailing all the good and the 'challenges' that come along with bigger trips like this.
  19. I love this hook, mostly because I won't fish the neko because i snag so dang much in my lakes (brush/sticks...). However, I'm facing a dilemma!! Todd rigs it with the swivel coming out the same side as the bend of the hook. This URL shows the swivel on the 'other' side. https://fishingnorthalabama.com/gamakatsu-introduces-cover-neko-hook-for-finessing-around-targets/ SO.......... which one is 'correct' or was it 'designed' for?
  20. Let us know how they work!
  21. I guess only time will tell if the inu rig is the new neko rig, and really catches on with the fish and the anglers, or if it's just another rig that gets lost in the melee. Looks kind of cool to me, but I'm an angler, and most things catch anglers more than they catch fish... oh wait, except for those $200 dollar swimbaits, I guess those catch anglers and fish haha
  22. Let's hope the new owners know this and don't mess with a fragile known working machine!
  23. Haha maybe I should go buy 100 bags of senkos that were made under Gary's setup, just in case these new guys change it and screw it up. Overall, acquisitions scare me personally.
  24. Gary Yamamoto Baits Sold to GSM Is this a big deal? Will we see bait quality degrade? https://sgbonline.com/gsm-outdoors-acquires-gary-yamamoto-custom-baits/
