dumbest thing you've done while fishing
I was fishing off a pier in lake champlain and makea perfect cast with a floating rapala, then i hear a huge splash I turn around to see my dads favorite old rod and reel combo sinking in 40 deg. water. and me with a floating bait the was nothing i could do. Then I was fishing with a brand new 6.6 ultralight doin a side cast unbenounced to me my friend walked up and i wacked him right in theback with my new rod and broke it over him he then fell forward in the water and was unbelievably ticked when I stopped laughing so hard I realized my 100dollar rod was busted. then I casted a popper with a good knot and hit the other side of this river, broke off, then one of my buddies went swimming.... found it... gave it back and I tied it on went for another cast and saw my lure foating away.... I felt so dumb...

Broken Bill
Well I was out fishing the other day and had a Bomber square A tied on... story short... the bill cracked halfway off in the truck on the way home There is a little triangle left and my question is that could i just take the rest of the bill off and would it work like that or should i just take off the hooks and trash it? I dont really care because it is a 2 dollar lure but i dont want to waste money.

Leader to braid....knots or swivels??
I utterly despise swivels to th point that even if im ultralight fishing i would rather completely screw up my line with twist than use a swivel, it will knock out a guide on the rod or better yet it will hang up and when you snap your rod forward to cast your lure flys and hits the water and your swivel is still in the guides... whatever knot you choose will be a huckuvalot better than any swivel

Help with a new addition to my rod arsenal?
Alright well I have currently 5 rods and reels, 4 are spinning and one is casting... Here is the actions/ line weights all that good stuff... Quantum tenacity casting combo 6'6 Med action 8-17lb line (I run 12 pound trilene big game, in green) Mitchell Advanta spinning Med action 6'6 6-12lb line (I run 10lb stren mono) Leeland lures sore lip rod with an okuma sentry spinning 6'6 Fast light action 2-6lb line (I run 4lb trilene xl) Shakespeare UL spinning 4'6 2-6lb line (I run 4lb trilene xl) And a POS zepco spinning thats a really floppy medium that I have 12lb on (rarely sees use) (I run 12lb Pline flouroclear) Alright. so I suppose for being 15 this isnt too bad but really What do you think I should designate the rods I have as (crankbait, worm, topwater, etc) and also What is a good value baitcast combo or affordable rod and affordable reel, I want something nice but really can only spend about a hundred. Also I know that the fast action and ul isnt really standard bass tackle but its nice for some smaller ponds. So thank you for any input you have on this stuff.

How many casts will you make to one spot?
In the pond typically will fish 2 spots I know hold fish, but i mayfish that spot for 10- 30 mins then maybe try the other spot and then go back i dont sit there and count casts...

The owner twist locks are amazing hooks
-
If you had $100.00 to spend on baits
im not gonan sit here and name baits, but probably a couple different new soft plastics some jigs another spinnerbait or too and then a larger variety of crankbaits and hard jerkbaits (rapala husky jerks)
-
Sweeettt I love ultralight!
"Yeah, the large ones arent active. That is why you couldnt get them on a mepps." Is that sarcasm?
-
Sweeettt I love ultralight!
Yea I love that too I mean I love frog fishing actually the most, It is my favorite lure. but the ultralght is amazing I mean It really does feel Like you have a monster everytime and It gives you a better fight too.

$600 boat suggestions
I would say hunt on craigslist for a 14 foot jon boat, I gues you arnt interested in a trailer so just get the boat, you can rige a large cooler up with an aerator to be a livewell and then throw a little trolling motor on that thing and you should be ready to go, goof luck to you.

Does your wal-mart carry anything good?
they have no plastics but they have some decent craks, spinners, buzzbaits, and my wallmart has a million trout lures... it like an isle of them!
-
Rattletrap or Rattlin' Rapala?
Rattletrap... im a classic kinda guy...
-
Some new stuff
Ecpect an order for them curl tail worms soon...
-
Does your wal-mart carry anything good?
Mine is pretty crappy..They have some decent trout stuff but i get most of my gear at dicks...
-
ultra light gear for trout
I use a cheapo Shakespeare UL. Its i believe 4'6 andis great... I actually use it for panfishing, trout, and anything else... It typically sees more use than any of my rods.. mainly because I can walk to a panfish spot. And it is a 10-15 minute drive for trout fishing

Getting ready... Trout
Alright I need to go pick up some stuff for trout season... well I dont need to but hey its been a long winter and a guy can dreamcant he? So I plan on using my Shakspeare Stream Seeker Ultralight.. and its seen allot of use last summer sooo I gotta respool... so What do you guys think... How line shy are trout.. I was thinking 4 pound trilene xl but then I am afraid if a fish can see it so maybe some flouro leader? I just dont want to spend the money for all flouro on my ultralight when My bass rods only get to see Pline Flouroclear... So whatt do you all think? Also I want to get some hip waders this season... Im thinking just the regular rubber ones are these alright? And what do you guys usually throw... Last year it was just powerbait... And those Atlas mikes trout mallows... I want to try some Salmon roe and those power chains or whatever they are called, How in the would do you fish those? I mean not the rig more like how do you hook them... And im gonna be picking up some new inline spinners and tiny Kastmasters.

anything you do that goes against "the rules of fishing"?
I just fish what I think works, If I think a crank will catch a fish there I throw it, If im in a pond or something I fish topwater all the way I just do what I want, I still catch fish, I really dont feel like memorizing every lure technique and getting into all the perfect rod for every lure.
