  1. Good to know the other transducer will work, and thanks for the warning to change transducer type on the unit.
  2. I have a helix 5 si unit for my boat and want to use the same head unit for my kayak, so I was looking to by a 2nd transducer, power cable and mount. Can I use a standard transducer with the SI unit or do I need the SI transducer. I didn't want to spend much, and the standard transducer is much cheaper.
  3. Bass lI've is available now, but live bass fishing can be pretty boring. These guys may catch 5 fish in 8 hours. That's a lot of time to kill with nothing happening. I don't see how live fishing will work. Mlf they package a full day into 2 hours.
  4. I have gliss on a casting reel and love it. Great casting and haven't had any issues with it digging it
  5. I'd take a look at the St. Croix Avid or Avid X 68mxf. It's good rod for topwater, jerkbaits, and weightless worms. I've never used it for shakeyheads, but it should be fine. I think the 68mxf is one of the best rods St. Croix has ever made in all of their models. The ex6 mbr843 is also a great rod, but I prefer it for heavier weights. I primarily use that rod for spinner baits, and t-rigs. I'm not sure it would be that great for shakeyheads.
  6. If it's a reel you have a use for that's not a bad deal.
  7. I assume he has a lot of say with his sponsors in how they design their products. I doubt changing brands would have any impact on his fishing. Aaron Martens is now sponsored by shimano. Once he left megabass shimano picked him up.
  8. I agree with the academy ethos composite cranker. Wait for a sale and you can find it under $50
  9. I wonder how much of a market there is for the glx rods. Obviously the NRX has a big following, but I don't see much conversation about the glx anymore. Seems to be an in between price point theses days
  10. The other advice is to think about under deck rod storage especially with 2 guys. I'm putting in tubes to slide my rods under the front deck so I have a place for 6 rods under the deck in addition to what's stored on the front deck.
  11. I've got a similar setup for an electric lake, though my boat is a 1548 g3. I would go with a single trolling motor on the rear, the 2nd made little difference in soeed, just drained batteries faster. I'm currently rebuilding the decks now and using aluminum sheet and tubing to keep weight down instead of the plywood that was there originally
  12. I've caught more fish in my life on a beetle spin than any other lure. I still have an ultra lite rod I take every trip with one tied on to avoid getting skunked.
  13. I wash in tec-wash. They have one for washing gear, and one for waterproofing.
  14. Have any of you ever taken the classes mudhole teaches, seem reasonably inexpensive. Curious if they are worth the money, or if you tube is as good?
  15. I have an avid mm and love it. I've never tried the mhm to see how it compares.

Haha haha. I hope this is a joke
  17. I use academy aluminum pliers. They have a cutter on one side that slices through braid
  18. We have a cabelas and a bass pro is supposed to be opening, though construction has been delayed. I like to go to cabelas at lunch and waste time looking for sales. I've found a few unexpected deals, but typically don't buy much. I'm hoping the bass pro still opens to give me another option to add to my rotatation.
  19. I think the 852s is the all around nrx spinning rod. I have the 822syr, which is a good light weight rod, but I would consider it an all around rod
  20. If you are considering the higher priced rod, I'd go ahead and get it. You'll always wonder how much better it is, and up selling the rod you bought at a loss and buying the more expensive rod. I've done it enough, that I think I've finally learned better
  21. I just got a nrx822 syr for my stradic. Fantastic finesse combo
  22. In you want a small town in those areas, check out Fuquay-Varina. Close to everything, but you can get a decent sized lot for a reasonable price
  23. Shearon Harris was my favorite lake in the area. The slot limit produces a lot of big bass, and the lake is small enough compared to Jordan that it keeps the jet skiers away. You also have the eastern NC rivers which open up a ton of area and the albemarle sound.
  24. I've got mbr 843 and jwr 852s in the E6X. I've been pleased with both rods, but I also got them for $125. At full price I think I prefer the avid over the E6X. You really just need to handle the rods and see how they feel to you. I personally prefer cork which kept me away from the zodias
