Help! Pond Overrun by Weeds!
You can try contacting the SCDNR to see if they will stock grass carp. My lake was stocked with carp a few years before we moved there, and I was told it made a big difference in the grass.

Ground anchor for beached boat
Thanks for the suggestions. I found a auger style mobile home anchor at a hardware store that I installed this week. Seems to be holding reasonably well the first few nights. It installs nearly flush to the ground, so I can run over it with the mower. I still have the chain connected to a tree as a backup, but the ground anchor reduces my rope length from 25 ft down to 3, so now the boat can't move as much when it rains.

Best shimano/gloomis texas rig combo
May favorite t rig setup is a core 50 on a 853 GLX. I also have a 843 and 844 GLX, and a 843 NRX, but prefer the 853 for texas rigs.

Ground anchor for beached boat
I'm looking for suggestions on a ground anchor to use to secure a beached boat. I keep my boat beached on shore, and am trying to find a more secure way to tie it up. I currently have 2 dock lines tied to a tree, but the tree is an angle relative to the boat, so if the water rises due to rain, the boat can float due to the length of line. I don't want to put a post in the ground, because I need clearance for my truck and trailer when I need to pull the boat. The boat is a 1548 Jon boat.

Listening to music while fishing
Sometimes I like music, other times I like the quiet. Just depends on the mood I'm in and how the fishing is going. I find when I'm fishing fast I don't care for music, but when I'm fishing slow music helps me relax and helps me slow down.

Senko/Fluke weightless plastic rod suggestions...
I agree with the st croix 6'8" mxf, though I prefer the casting rod for senkos and flukes.

Favorite lipless crankbaits?
I used a 6th sense this weekend that I got from either MTB or LTB. I think it's my new favorite. The fall of the bait was good, and the hooks were great. It was my first time using a 6th sense bait, but I was impressed

Engineering Career Related to Fishing
If you are set on being in the fishing industry, start with the websites, and job boards. I'd also try going to fishing and boating shows and try to talk with the folks there and ask if they have any contacts or advice on how to get into the industry. If your school has a fishing club I'd recommended getting involved with that if you aren't already. I'm sure there are sponsor contacts through the club you can talk with. As an upcoming graduate the biggest thing you need at this point is experience. Find something that gives you design experience and learn modeling skills, and you'll have a better chance of landing your dream job in the industry. A lot of companies aren't interested in hiring new graduates, so you won't have as many options as this point. Find something that interests you and gives you options to learn, and you'll be better prepared for positions in the future.

Cranking Rod for around 50$
Academy has a 7' MM composite cranker for $59, though they were on clearance for $25. It's a great rod at that price range.

MLF Summit Cup
I love watching. I'm glad it's every fish and not top 5. There's more action that way, and that's typically how I fish, so I feel I actually learn something watching how the pros approach this event

small boat for non-gas lakes
I have a G3 1548 that I use for an electric only lake. I added deck extensions to the front and rear using aluminum and added some additional foam. The aluminum deck extension is much lighter than the wood the original owner installed. I keep the boat in the lake year round, so I wanted something that wouldn't rot. I have a 65 lb trolling motor on the front with a 55 on the rear. I've fished it a few times with 2 guys ~220-250 lb each. It's not as stable as a glass boat, but no one has fallen in and we both fish standing up. As long as you get a wide boat you'll be fine with aluminum.

$200 Bottom Bait Rod
For $200 I'd keep an eye on ebay and the classifieds here. I bought a 2016 St. Croix Legend Elite 7' MHF rod just before Christmas for $150 + $30 shipping, so $180 total for a $400 rod. I've also found Loomis GLX rods for <$200. Take a look at $300-$400 rods you like and then and find something used.

Coffee addict-any ideas for brewing on the water
How much coffee are you drinking that it won't fit in a thermos? Stanley makes a 2 qt thermos which will hold a full pot of coffee. Buy that and 2 of the 32 oz Yeti style mugs, and you can keep 2 pots of coffee hot all day.

Curado I vs Chronarch E which is the better reel?
I'm a big fan of the 50 sized E series reels. I've also owned 200E, 200I and 70I. Nearly everything I currently use is a 50E.
